I know your all prbly thinking you want to stab me in the chest but truth of the matter is.. Growing up Sucks-_- why cant i go back to highschool? why cant i go back to being that kid in 5th grade with all the pokemon cards. Why can't i be sitting in front of my huge tube television watching Rugrats.... why the fuck do we have to be dying from the day we are born.. Think about it. From the exact moment a human being, or any organism for that matter, is born it starts to die.. Yes its growing, yes its getting bigger.... but in all honesty its getting bigger to die. Sitting here thinking why did god put me on this earth isn't enough for me. Everyone has a purpose in life but i do not know what mine is yet.
Who knows maybe ill end up finding the cure for cancer in some piece of gum attached to a wall thats 20 years old, or maybe ill invent the best new MMO... who knows...
All i know is if you think about it life is precious and sweet and short... Too short to worry about stupid shit like " I need to get a million dollar job" or "oh my god, those people think i'm weird"......
20 bucks goes to who ever finds out the purpose to being alive is.. because honestly right now i don't see what the purpose of sitting here typing this is.... ( NO IM NOT SUICIDAL )

To be young again.Share

God i miss being a kid.

Twenty years gone by and it feels like every one since the first has gone by faster than the last. Approaching my twentieth birthday, January 28th if you didn't know, I'm starting to realize how much in my life i have to be grateful for. A full high school education, great friends, the most supporting family i could ask for, sweet vehicle, sexy bod, free post-secondary, and not to mention I'm hung like a turkish mule. That one is genetics but whatever =D. But after I thank everyone and everything in my life that molded me into the man I am today I still can't help but reminisce about those younger days. The days when every morning was a brand new beginning, the start of your next great journey! When all that you cared about was getting the good cereal for breakfast, or making sure you wailed like a ghoul when you shit yourself so mom or dad would give you a nice wipe and then spray that precious magic powder that took the burn away asap. Every night at dinner you plan to make the biggest mess possible with your pureed carrots and peas and laugh when mommy makes daddy clean it up. After your bath you head downstairs to once again try and figure out why that god damn purple square won't fit in the yellow circle hole. . shapez iz haaarrrdd. Your end of the night ritual is to create a few 4 car pile-ups on your tonka toy car mat and then save everyones lives by whipping the firetruck as quick as possible in the direction of the chaos you have created. Mom and dad tuck you in, hug and kiss goodnight and you whipe the slate clean and start fresh the next morning. Easy peasy lemon squeezy.

The toddler years pass and you wind up being a rambunctious elementary student making snow caves and tunnels with mom's kitchen spoons in our ridiculous Calgary winter snowfalls. She gives you shit for ruining the cutlery, and you track your wet, muddy ass downstairs to game some intense Super Mario on the NES. Again, such a simple, carefree existance which, of course, is completely run-of-the-mill average until you look back and realize how easy you had it before your voice changed and your parents gave you the chat about the birds and the bees. That's what it's for? noowww i gettt iitt. But what should i name him ? haaahaa.

The Junior High years are a little tougher than the elementary ones passed, mainly because the teachers start introducing 'responsibility' into the already drawl curriculum. What the fuck? I'm only 13. . . i just sprouted my first ball hair for shit sakes. Whatever, shake it off Brad, they're just fucking with you. Shoot more hornets and put more tacks on ms clark's seat and you'll forget about it in no time =)

Then we come to the high school years. Narrowly avoid being hazed in the first month, succeed as being a model student in the second, and then fall of the horse and continually use the phrase, "fuck my life" until you finally scrape enough credits off your dirt classes to grab your diploma and peace. High school in a nutshell? Mmmm not quite. I forgot about all the stupid ut unforgettable shit you and your new best friends would do in-between classes and at lunch in the caff. Lol, gambling for quarters while skipping first period, playing Big2 nonstop at lunch and moving all the tables to the top tier to show how much seniority we had over the younglings down below. hanging out in the gym office with the best teachers in the world and eventually makingit to class to hand in your piping hot, fresh off the press Spark Notes essay to Mr Hoar. And how can we forget Jean showing Mr Hall his penis countless times, being a hero in gym class and continually dominating with Corbs in intramural football, copying off Matt and Jess in Bio 30 and ending with a bang getting matching t-shirts made to finally give Craig his rightly deserved recognition for having THE hottest bod in the league. Grad '07 was sick.

Alright people, fun and games are over, you are in the real world now and you must act accordingly! You are adults! you must conform! Do not think for yourself! You will earn a degree in business and spend the rest of your lonely life crunching numbers in your uncles accounting firm until your finally fucking old enough to collect your pension and die of a heart attack on the plane ride to your summer home in Tahiti! FUCK! Sound about right? Not quite? Yeeaah i might have exaggerated a bit, but srsly boys and girls, college is tough shit. I quit after my first year of business and have no regrets in doing so! I, for one, am not going to conform. I'm going use my life savings to earn a degree in Literature and make my way up the poetic ladder to eventually land a position as a senior editor for the fastest selling magazine on the streets of Paris or London. I'm going to marry Emma Watson, and write a book about our magnificent travels and feats of unbelievability with our 11 children. Which by the way, are going to be the most beautiful children to ever grace the face of the earth. We will have ten terrific boys, all best friends, and one gorgeous little girl- Charlotte perhaps. We will grow old and wrinkly together and die at exactly the same moment just like in the notebook. Our names will go down in history as being the most loving and devoted parents and lovers in the history of our world. And my life will be complete.

Now take a step back from what you just read, I HAVE 11 KIDS. Now i finally understand what responsibility is all about. I don't not speed anymore because i don't want a ticket, i dont speed because my kids need their dad. I eat healthy and work out not because i want to be ripped and pick up chicks, i do it because as a father i need to lead by example. And i won't write that autobiography so it can be published and make me a million, i'll do it because if anything ever happens to me or my wife I'll want my kids to know how much we cared, and that everything we did since the day we were born, let alone the kids themselves, was for them. My life is no longer carefree, i realize now, even before i meet my future wife and before we have our 11 beautiful children that i need to start planning for the future. Sacrifice my friday and saturday nights and save my money because as soon as the first little guy pops out, i'm gonna need all the help i can get.

Friends come and go, jobs change, our material belongings lose their shine and our bodies will eventually deteriorate. All that is forever in this world is family. So make the best of the life you have, live everyday as if it's your last and never forget the people in your life who havn't forgotten you. Do yoga, jump out of a plane at least once and travel as much as you possibly can before you settle down. Because like i've been saying throughout this entire note, you're only a kid once. Live it up.

The meaning of life is what you make it. Go your own way, do what you like, don't care what others think about you, and live life as you want. You'll never find the meaning to your own life by worrying what others think of you, or being submissive to other people's will and opinions. Live high, live mighty, and live every day as you want.

Worrying about what is to come or delving in to the past will only cause you confusion, sadness and depression. Live without regret, and don't think about what your purpose in life is or why you're alive. It'll come to you eventually. Be it becoming a responible parent or the boss of a large corporation.

Life is what you make it, so make the best out of it.

Oh, and its true. Life do seem to go by faster when you're young, and it is actually quite obvious when you think about it. When you're a kid, you don't have al ot of experience. Almost everything in life is new, so your brain registers more. Whe nyou're older, you learn less and experience less new things, so the brain deem a lot of memories worthless and discard them. As yoour brain catalogs things chronologically, years seem to go by faster when you're older, as you're met with less new experiences. Adult life is a lot of repetition (wake up, go to work, come home from work, go to bed), which isn't important for the brain to memorize. When we're bored, time seem to go by slower as we have nothing to do, but looking back at it a few days later, we only have small memories of the event in question, and 1 hour might seem like less then a min when you look back at it. For the same reason, you experience life as being faster then when you were a kid.

You start thinking about how fun it was to play games
like battleship when you were a kid
and how, as we get older we forget how to play and just to enjoy ourselves
so you say "Guess What? I'm gonna make up a game right now
and it involves a baseball bat and a porcupine
and I'm gonna try to kill a porcupine with a baseball bat"
but then you don't know where to find a porcupine so
you do a search on ebay but people don't sell porcupines on the internet
and you say "Guess what world? you've got me cornered again
I'm gonna roll another joint"

Look at me
Look at me
Driving and I won't stop
And it feels so good to be
Alive and on top
My reach is global
My tower secure
My cause is noble
My power is pure
I can hand out a million vaccinations
Or let'em all die in exasperation
Have'em all healed of their lacerations
Have'em all killed by assassination
I can make anybody go to prison
Just because I don't like'em and
I can do anything with no permission
I have it all under my command
I can guide a missile by satellite
By satellite
By satellite
and I can hit a target through a telescope
Through a telescope
Through a telescope
and I can end the planet in a holocaust
In a holocaust

Just because you're not a kid anymore doesn't mean you have to change. Growing up just means rising to the call when you need to be responsible. You can still live a lazy and carefree life, as long as you know when to put that on hold and be serious.

When I'm not doing important things I'm either playing games, watching TV(90% of which is cartoons, even kid ones,) or playing with my dog. That's hardly a lifestyle change from what I was doing 20 years ago.

This.

Remember this and everything becomes pretty simple. I still sleep over a friend's house a lot and watch films/tv and just chat, just like in high school!

Life is definitely what you make it, too much energy is spent worrying about whether you'll have the sweetest car, sweetest house, most "toys" and electronics. Too much energy is spent on stressing about the bills you can't pay this month, or the party you can't go to. Too much energy is wasted on too much.

I believe I know my purpose, I believe I'm here to be a great mom someday, I believe I'm here to maintain the great relationships I have with my friends, with my family. I believe I'm here to make my mother cry when she sees me marry, when she sees me give her a grandchild.

We can all live a youthful life, as so many elders say to me, and to everyone I'm sure "You are only as old as you feel", this statement has never been more true. As this civilization that we drudge through daily drains us of our precious time, we need to take a step back and remember we're not here to work, but to live, love and experience whatever life throws at us.

Just remember....

There's the "PLAN", then there's "LIFE" .

To qoute the rock......

Live free and die well.

I had a hard time adjusting to life post-school. Looking for a job sucks, finding a job you actually like at first is not going to happen unless you're super lucky... and people who have pipe dreams of landing their perfect job in the field of their choosing straight out of college are also nuts. Try to find a job you at least don't dread going to every day, and make sure you have something fun/worthwhile to do on time off. It also helps to have a great partner :p

Eight years after graduating college and here I am, I finally am married, have a house, 3 dogs, nice yard, and a job I don't hate :D

I think that "if at first you don't succeed, try, try again" applies here. Sure life sucks, more often than not as a matter of fact. But just be persistent and you'll at least end up being someone/something you're content with.

Know what I'm gonna do if we make it? I'm gonna go back to Eagle River and marry my gal, Edith Mae. Gonna get us a nice little place with a white picket fence. You know the kind. Two-car garage. Maybe a fishing boat. And in 15 years, when they're all paid for... I'll set my charges and blow the shit out of them.

im 19 and engaged , im ready to be married, only think im not ready for.... is the seperating from the air force when i do... if i get kicked out cuz of my knees

Hahahaha

Make that Elli Mae.

Even if you're not content with your job and it isn't the perfect job for you, you can still enjoy it. Hell, I would never in my life think a job in a store selling clothes would be my ideal job, but the people I work with are awesome and fun and make my work so much more fun. I love talking to them, and have a very fun time just working with them, even if the job itself sucks, and they make the job so much more endurable and enjoyable, and actually make it something I look forward to each day. I model, photograph, customer service and sell things all in one, and I couldn't enjoy my job more, even if the job itself isn't very fun, only because the people I work with are awesome.

Even the job itself isn't ideal, it can be fun and enjoyable due to the people you work with. I'm sure a lot of you agree. If you don't enjoy the company of the people you work with, you should consider changing job. Not because of the job itself, but because of the people. Social contact means a lot in your life, and can make the most dreadable thing enjoyable. Or at the very least more fun (as I truly hope your job isn't dreadable).

Age is a state of mind. Even in the military, you can still be a kid, you just need to know when to turn it on and off. There are times you need to be responsible, and so long as you know when those are, you're good.

Hell, what do you think motivates most pilots? The boys didn't grow up, they just got much bigger (and more lethal) toys.

I was engaged at 18, but we broke up. Eight years later I'm married :P
