Okay, saw a preview to Grudge 2 on the internet... did anyone actually enjoy the "horror" in the first one (English Version)?

Personally, I thought it was a piece of shit.
 
yeah, I hated it. By far one of the worst movies ever =/
 
Yeah, i thought some stuff in the Grudge was all right but it's definitely a series (like so many movies today) trying to ride the success of The Ring (Ringu) and get paid.
 
well Ringu actually has like 6 or more sequals in japan, Go to blockbuster, they have every single Ringu there on dvd with sub titles, If all they are doing is translating and americanizing each installment, its not all that bad. But i still didnt think they did good with the first one anyway.

The Grudge (Ju-On), sucked. I saw both and the ORIGINAL jp version was much better and more believeable. i think there are quite a few Ju-on sequals out there too.
Now if you want a REAL Japanese horror flick that will make you cringe at some scenes,
might i reccomend The Audition.
 
Was I the only person that was absolutely terrified of this movie? I remember not sleeping for a couple of days afterwards, and ever sound made me jump. Iunno. The movie got to me on some primal level. I'll see the second one because I want to see it end. Only THEN will my fears be stopped.

Lol nah you arn't my sister doesn't see scarey movies anymore because of it. It's funny she came home and was scared to go to sleep. The grudge scared her that bad XD . Seems like were remaking more and more Japanese movies these day not sure if this is good or bad? I've never seen the japanese really act, other than voice acting which btw they are quite good at.

lol i've only seen the 3 ringu movies (ringu 1, ringu 2, and ringu 0[?]). I didn't know there was like 6. Damn. They must be reaching for plot considering Ringu 0 was about a PLAY.....

i was scared shitless also.
 
I was sitting 6 rows back with my friend, and the row behind us was hysterical...

Not crying that is...

They were laughing like no tomorrow.
I.e, "That bitch is going to die! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!" Everyone in the movie theatre was like, ZOMFG! STFU! for a while, until everyone else started joining in on the laughing. So at the theatre I was at, it became a comedy rather than a horror.

And to Chasym's point, the Japanese version of the Grudge, Ju-On, was much better than its American counterpart.
 
I didn't like the Ring or The Grudge. You know what was a great movie? Army of Darkness. Bring back the Evil Dead/Army of Darkness Trilogy. Bad acting yet still funny! Though I saw evil dead when I was 5 and it gave me nightmares for like 2 years o.o;; army of darkness lightened things up
 
i saw it in the theatre it scared this shit out of me cuz i was with my sister and friends and i used to get easily scared now i watch horror movies and laugh at them...... i think that movie scared me so much i cant be scared any more, i just laugh at horror movies now.....

or the whole crazy crawling down the stairs thing that she does.

nothing beats the spider walk in The Exorcist though.
 
I thought the Grudge was rather interesting. It was different than most horror movies which I liked. Plus surround sound makes it freakier. Like when you hear the boy running it sounds like he's running past you from behind like he's running on the wall or something. Plus there is a speaker near where my shower is so right before that shower scene, it sounded like my shower was actually being turned on. Quite an experience. I was also alone with the lights off at night. That made it fun.

Both JP and US versions were pretty good. Though I didn't like how they left out a lot of scenes that was shown in the orginial JP version. I would of liked to have seen those scenes in the US version since the affects in the US version were a bit better. But overall they were both good and I'm looking foward to seeing the 2nd one.
 
I saw the japanese version first and thought it was great. Then I saw the English version and all I could do was swear because I couldnt see any boobies in the shower scene.

Um... yeah that preview... scared the shit outta me. I never saw the first one because a friend of mine told me about it and it had some chilling stuff about an attic and what not and well... my room is the attic in my house and i'm pretty sure it's haunted anyway so, yeah.

It's weird cause i LOVE scary movies but when i can relate to em in real life it freaks me out! When i saw that preview for the 2nd movie with my friends, i was freaked out cause it did not STOP! That preview was so damn long. Like it could have ended 12 times but it kept showing long pauses of silence then BAM. BAM. Pretty sure i leaned over to my friend and told him to make the preview stop or i was about to walk out... I was sorta not joking lol
