GTA 4 full experience: 360 only and E3 discussion

They gave some specific release dates and confirmed all of the games they showed(except RE5) would be out this year.

Well this is a new E3 Fire. The whole view has changed. There are now several shows set up per year. This happens to be perfect timing for them to showcase their holiday lineup.

Ok now check this since Sonys is over. What did they show new that you will be able to play withing a year from now? Nothing lol. Most their games coming out after March 08'. In fact they have no official date of release. MS made a great move.

i never saw anything about the disney contract before their show...anything about scene it and the controller...anything about golden axe and sonic, i never even heard about the Gta content. so hey, if its been out there before, its new to me, but the sites i visit daily would have revealed all that already had it been out before, which like i said, i never seen anything about it.

Sony really needs to start using the advantages they have with BluRay if they want to win. Like add more content in games vs other versions (in GTA4-PS3 BluRay can hold more songs, another island, more cars, ect...) But that would mean more work for Rockstar. Sony will have to start paying for more content from developers and M$ can easily pay too to get the same content in XBox LIVE (and get more money too!). Sony is screwed...

No one knew about it. It would have been such a popular news item thay it would have shown up EVERYWHERE. He's just bullshittin'.

Episodic content

During Microsoft's 2006 E3 press conference on May 9, it was announced that Grand Theft Auto IV would be available for the Xbox 360 and that Rockstar Games will offer exclusive episodic content via Xbox Live for the Xbox 360 version. This had been confirmed by Rockstar, announcing two extra, exclusive, episodes.[27] After the press conference, Rockstar Games' parent company, Take-Two Interactive, posted a press release announcing Grand Theft Auto IV will be released simultaneously for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 platforms. On February 28, 2007 it was announced that exclusive episodic content will be introduced starting in 2008.[28]

Peter Moore, head of Microsoft's Interactive Entertainment Business division announced that Rockstar Games is working on two downloadable packs for GTA IV exclusively on the 360, which will probably be available within months of the game's release date. Moore described downloadable content as "epic episode packs", and not just extra cars or characters. A press release during the conference said that the packs would add "hours of entirely new gameplay" to the game.[29] The official Xbox website states that these episodes will last a minimum of 10 hours.[30] Details on the pricing of these downloads have not yet been revealed, though it would almost certainly not be released for free, as Take-Two Interactive's former CEO, Paul Eibeler, have said numerous times that these downloads would provide "additional revenue streams" to the company.

As part of a conference call following the release of Take-Two Interactive's Second Quarter Fiscal 2007 financial results, the company's Chief Financial Officer, Lainie Goldstein revealed that Microsoft was paying a total of US$50 Million for exclusivity of this content split equally between the two packs.[31] The payments can be found referenced in the company's Second Quarter Fiscal 2007 financial results as "Deferred revenue".

I think we've demonstrated time and time again Strid you're the one willing to say just about anything to win some pointless argument on the internet.

Personally I'd give a shit if I'd ever actually managed to finish a GTA game in the first place. All I've ever done is gotten to a point where I had all the upgrades I want and just rampage. I highly doubt I'd actually buy the extra missions if it was coming for PS3 though it's possible if they make the missions actually interesting unlike in every installment ever. Admittedly I loved the Bully missions and finished that - and I consider Bully a GTA game.

I too already knew about the episodic content, you most likely forgot since there hasn't been really any news on GTA4 since last E3, other than a trailer

I don't even remember it then. All the while, I've been a GameInformer subscriber a looooooooooooong time now. Not to mention following web sites. Oh well, can't catch them all I guess.

"Time and time again"? This may be the only time you've actually gotten me. Kudos. I don't bake cookies though for a first. Being persistent while correct is key. That, you are not. I wished, like you, I could live in my own little world :(
