Four ecstasy pills have been found inside a computer game bought at a High Street store.

Richard Thornhill, 34, found the drugs under the front cover of X-Box game Grand Theft Auto IV, which he bought from Gamestation in Cheltenham.

Mr Thornhill said: "What made me feel the most distraught was the fact we let our 12-year-old play the game."

A spokesman for Gamestation said the company has launched an investigation and was assisting a police inquiry.

But the Thornhills claim Gamestation's initial response was to tell them to "flush the drugs down the toilet".

Mr Thornhill said he bought a second hand, or pre-owned, copy of the 18-certificate game before making the discovery last Sunday.

'Felt sick'

He said: "I was going to put it away and I felt a lump on the front cover.

"Inside the instruction booklet was a ball of Shrinkwrap, or Clingfilm. I thought it was just a ball of clingfilm, but then I realised there were tablets inside. I instantly felt sick.

"They had Mitsubishi signs on them, which I recalled meant they were ecstasy pills. I wasn't 100% sure though, so I checked online and sure enough I was right - it was ecstasy."

His wife, Lesley, contacted Gamestation's area manager whom she claimed invited her to hand the drugs over to the company so they could destroy them.

But the couple contacted Gloucestershire Police and officers collected the pills.

A Gamestation spokesman said: "We have rigorous procedures for accepting pre-owned titles and checking them before they are put back on sale.

"We have launched an investigation and will work closely with Cheltenham police to find out what happened."

Those 2 LOOK like they're from fucking ecstasy.

Plus, what the fuck is the shop going to do about it? Not like they had fucking dogs in the shops sniffing up drugs? Wasn't their fault that whoever owned the game before used it as a shipper for their own drugs.

And why feel sick? Just throw it away and move on. But NOOOO, these dumb fucks have to make a fuss out of it.

Yes but NOT FOR SEARCHING FOR DRUGS. Otherwise, you might as well look for used condoms and terrorist related material. OH NOOOO.

We have rigorous procedures for accepting pre-owned titles and checking them before they are put back on sale. These include making sure the game works, checking the instruction booklet for drugs, dismantling the disc case to make sure it doesn't have any explosives attached to it, getting it tested for STDs, and whether or not it takes good on rye bread with mustard.

It could of been fatal if the 12 year old found the tablets and swallowed them. Doesn't look too intelligent to know if it's drugs or not.

Plus, nice parenting letting a 12 year old play a 18 rated game.

Exactly. So therefore, they had it coming. Leave them be, nature will sort it out. Better DNA overall. Win.

I personally think that's a bit harsh. Sure it's shitty parenting but nobody deserves to die of drug abuse.

The single most important bit right here.

Actually, I'd call this a tale of GOOD parenting. The parents seem to have bought the game independent of their kid, it sounds like the dad may well have done some research and bought the game knowing about its content.

The article says he was distraught that he let his kid play the game; in the context of the article i'm PRETTY SURE the distraughtness was caused by the ecstasy, not the game content.

Harsh, indeed, but hey, they're blaming the shop in the first place. And adding up all the facts I think those 2 should lose:

1. "Mr Thornhill said: "What made me feel the most distraught was the fact we let our 12-year-old play the game." <--- OMFFFFFFFFG did you just REALISE THIS FACT? Dumbshit
2. It's GTA4. It's a kickass game. And this only appeared on the news because it's GTA4. Because you know, IT'S BAD FOR YOUUUUU SO WE MUST DO WHAT WE CAN TO SHIT THIS UPPPPP
3. It wouldn't appeared in the news if it was:

4. Chavs. Totally.

EDIT:

The article says he was distraught that he let his kid play the game; in the context of the article i'm PRETTY SURE the distraughtness was caused by the ecstasy, not the game content.

?

Sarcasm radar going off here but I just cannot help that you meant it for real there. What is it?

Darwin Awards, anyone!? No? oh, ok....

The context of the article doesn't have ANYTHING to do with the content of the game, just the drug thing. Go on... re-read it.

It would, because only pedophiles can play Animal Crossing and be adults at the same time, according to Missouri Police. It wouldn't be hard to link drug transfer from a pedophile to a child, right?

Oh yeh that I knew. But his dad clearly said he feels bad letting his spawn play the game. That is all. The article I understood.

Oh, soon GTA4 will be dragged in anyway and it'll all be "hey lets attack GTA4!!" again. :woot:

I forgot about pedophiles for the moment I posted Animal Crossing. My bad.

EDIT:

However, what game can contain drugs but not link it to anything of significance?

Mario? ...

Actually nevermind, those mushrooms ...

Tetris?

...

What i found funny was "the pills had the mitsubishi symbol on them, i recall that ment ecstasy"... LOL my friends LOL.... BIG LOL

Sounds like an Ecstasy consumer to me!

I can't shake the feeling that those pills were planted there by none other than Jack Thompson himself. He's trying to tarnish the good name of Grand Theft Auto(I lol'd a little as I typed that) by planting drugs in the cases. Next thing you know he's gonna come out and say that Rockstar ships X pills in all there games.

Yeah but seriously, woopty fuckin doo. So someone forgot to take their drugs out of their game before they sold it for more drugs. They're probably super bummed about it too. This guy that called the fuckin cops over it needs to get a life though. He should have just called the gamestore and informed them of his find so that they can be more careful about what they put on their shelves, and then flushed the pills down the damn toilet.

You know, it's really not that hard to notice that something is behind the cover of a game, it makes a pretty noticable bulge. Whoever the idiot was that sold it to him in the first place before looking at it should be fired.

Sounds like an Ecstasy consumer to me!

You know, I thought that too, until I realized that I know(now) that some X pills have the mitsubishi logo on them. And I've never done or even seen ecstasy.
