PC Guild Wars 2

$59.99 for a PC game is not standard price... If you think that's standard price, you're buying too many consoles games and not enough PC games.

Every Blizzard game since the 90s has been 60 bucks :P as has some westwood games I think (but I might be wrong) and ya... sure 50 is also standard, but many of the companies do sell at 60. Just not as frequently.

You know what? I love vistas, even if sometimes they are incredibly frustrating to figure out how to reach (but that's part of the fun and challenge).

Today, some more vista shots!

The following are from Divinity's Reach, the main human city that I finally got around to exploring.
While not quite as large as Hoelbrak, the Norn city, DR probably has some of the most impressive views.

Meh, I cracked a few days ago when I noticed I had enough Power Up Reward Points to get the game without having to pay out any money. I haven't shopped at GS for a while so I figured I may as well use them so I'm completely done there. As expected the game is very, very good, and finally really quite easy to run. During beta it was horribly optimized; it didn't even run well on my new PC, not an issue at all now, fully maxed and using my GPU to get more out of it I'm cruising above 60 FPS.

I started as a Human Elementalist and got to 22 then made a Norn Guardian after I partied with one, finally, and thought, "sure would be nice to always have one around." So I figured I'd make one myself and, man, I'm so hooked on this class. I've gotten it to 34 and have no care in the world to play anything else, it's such a great class. I especially love the looks, the ability auras have little puzzle piece shapes, hearts, etc. on them, very reminiscent of something out of Alice in Wonderland.

I think this game is the perfect MMORPG. It's everything a good, fun MMORPG should have but minus any of the hassle. Not having to formally join groups is amazing, and since everyone benefits from helping, the level of co-op in the game is superb. I'm extremely glad that instead of going the normal MMORPG route, say like WoW, they've kept the game very skill based, both in PvE and PvP. If you're not generally always on your toes, no matter your level, you stand to get taken down a peg or two (within reason). The WvWvW reminds me very much of the awesome, awesome DAoC and that alone... my how I've missed that game over the years, for someone to "get it" and do it right at this point in time is a miracle and I'm very thankful GW2 gets it. As for the amount of content, my Lord, I'd be surprised, even at 100% map completion, people would have a hard time finding something fun to do, there is just so much content, far more than levels. And woo, the map points to "collect" on each map call out to my gaming OCD, I friggin' love them. I'm not a big fan of how Structured PvP works, but that's just a quirk of mine. I like to PVP in the items I gained from farming the world to get or make. That said, it's the perfect system for people interested in a near completely balanced system for PvP. Hard to knock it for providing such an expansive eSport type set-up there though, it just falls in line with this game providing something for everyone. Since WvWvW has the system I prefer, it's more like an added feature instead of a detraction.

I'd have to say, since the honeymoon period is over, this is probably the best MMORPG I've ever played, topping FFXI by a hair. I wake up early to play, I forsake any amount of healthy sleep, and I couldn't be more happy. Arenanet have really outdone themselves here. Moving forward, I don't see how anyone could compete with something like this. The level of quality is far superior to any other MMORPG out there, yet there is no sub fee. I enjoyed GW a lot, but I didn't expect this kind of transformation at all, again, they've really outdone themselves. I'll sort through some of my pictures later and add to the thread. Too busy rushing to get into my Galdiator set right now.

I have yet to get into the WvWvW stuff myself. I've spent my time leveling from doing the story missions, crafting and exploring areas (read: Completing full zones - when possible - some things are bugged). I really haven't done anything else, but I've heard some of my guild friends talk about WvWvW and it really does actually sound pretty engauging and fun to partake in.

So far my Sylvari Necromancer is level 67. I've fought 2 dragons (not the elder dragons) and everything has been an awesome experience.

Picture dump! With added dragons!

And I'm now lvl 70 after gaining 3 levels from barely even playing yesterday.
Seriously, I did 1 story mission, ran through 1 really short dungeon 4 times with different guildies, and ran through 2 zones just getting a few waypoints, points of interest and skill challenges (didn't complete any heart quests). That leveled me 3 times from 67 to 70. Hmm, I did partake in a few events while running through zones though.

Wtf.. Every post I do on these forums lately ends up a double post. >_<

Aggravating.

Dunno, I seem to not double post, just takes forever for my post to go through :P

Anyways, I love the game, but I don't like playing every day. So I play casually. It's all good :)

Probably just as well that student teaching has left me unemployed; I could afford the distraction even less than the game, lol.

Just got GW2 for Christmas. I gotta say this game has surprised me, its a breath of fresh air. there are so many elements and mechanics I've never seen in another mmo. the zones feel SO ALIVE, every time I turn a corner there's another dynamic event going on. Loving this game so far,

I started on Denova's Rest server, tho I have heard you can add people to friendslist, chat, join guilds and even run stuff cross servers on GW2. Anyone else still playing? Ingame name is "Thelonah" thelona was already taken -.-. send me a chat ingame! solo grinding is getting lonely. Only been playing for like 3 days and don't have a guild yet.

Glad to see another person experience the fun of GW2.

I forgot what server I rolled on but I'm fairly certain it wasn't the one you joined. You can add cross server people to your friends list, but you can't really play with those people unless you happen to be on the same overflow. I haven't really been all that active on GW2 the past month or so but that's mainly due to IRL stuff taking up a lot of my time. Plus I've been on a swtor kick lately, playing through class stories I hadn't tried before and really enjoying them.

Eventually I'll get back in to GW2 because quite frankly it is one of the best games to have come out this year, and definitely deserves the praise it's been receiving.

I'm on anvil rock. Still not very high level as I haven't figured out what I want to play yet.

Having the same experience with ranger atm, started as one and got it to about 45 and started making alts, and i have to say I feel like I've been spoiled by ranger, so far haven't found any alt that doesn't feel meh compared to ranger, the mobility, the survivability, having seemingly endless skills to keep distance between you and your foe.

And people say ranger is underpowered atm aswell, I don't see it. but then again I'm only 56 atm so endgame may be different. Even in Spvp where many seem to think ranger has the most problems, Once i got a good build goin I can kite wars and guards all day, and really the only class I fear is a really skilled thief or mesmer.
(and from what I've heard EVERY class fears good thiefs and mesmers, they just seem to be the strongest 1v1 pvp classes atm.) Others say wars and guards are great in pvp, but I never let one of those fools get close enough to me to hit me with a melee weapon, so I wouldn't know =P

I have to say PVP is where this game REALLY shines, haven't seen such a well balance pvp environment in any other mmo, there's no stats on gear, just jewels with stats that you put in the gear, and those jewels are free, and have no lvl/rank requirement, only way to improve your GEAR in pvp is getting new skins as you rank up, which differs only in appearance. So there's no gear advantage at all no matter how much you grind or how new you are, everything falls to the skill of the player and how their character is built trait wise. Don't get me wrong, when you first start you're gonna get rolled, but that's only because you have to play around with your trait build till you get a good setup for pvp goin, which does take some time and some experimenting. but overall it's a GREAT system that leaves me asking "why doesn't every other mmo do pvp this way?"
