is anyone interrested in Guild Wars? Looks most interresting.....

I might give it a go. Looks good enough and I won't feel like I need to play it all the time since I won't be paying a monthly fee.

Kind of seems like it's going to be to MMORPGs what Dungeon Siege was to PC RPGs. It cuts out all the non-essential stuff and tries to focus on the meat of the genre. In this case, Guild Wars seems to cut out alot of the role-playing and time sinks of other MMOs(Wow, EQ, and FFXI), and focuses on strategic PVE fighting and PVP.

I might pick it up just for something fun to do that won't require a massive time investment. Not having a monthly fee is nice too.

Played 2 weekends in the Beta and was rather unimpressed. Had many of the same problems of ffxi, but worse. One of the few things I enjoyed was all the private scenarios.

i might give it a try since there are no monthly fees, and no need to put tons of time into it.....prolly a good pick up and play game at a Lan cafe.

you know well what no monthly fees means, constant expansions, bad service or the suprie when it becomes a monthly fee game down the road.... a bunch of my friends are doing beta... looks pretty sad... if you play it be a monk (overpowered)

Installing now.

actualy, be a Ranger mesmer. then you only need 4 abilities, and you can own any single thing in the entire game, at lvl 14.

Marksmans wager (before starting if possible) >>> Imaguined Burden >>> Conjure Phantasim. and Trool ungent if you somehow take damage.

marksmans wager: enhancement spell, whenever your arrows hit the target, you instantly gain 12 energy, and if you miss, you loose 10 energy. (oh, and its almost impossible to miss)

imagined burden: Kinda like gravity, only you can make it better and more effective, and last longer the more points you put into the asociated skill. they move HELLA slow.

Conjure phantasam: They should really just call it "Death Beam." Its actualy a poison attack, but it just starts you're HP rolling down at an allarming rate. at lvl 14, i had enough skill points to its atribute skill, that it was "Health degeneration 40 for 10 seconds" so, every .1 seconds roughly, they lost 40 HP. its cast time is instant, and can be recast before the first one is even finished.

Trool Ungent: baisicly, the oposite of Conjure Phantasam. it regens your HP at a huge rate that goes up the more points you put towards your skill.

useing ONLY those spells, i, as a lvl 13 ranger/mesmer, soloed a lvl 24 Demon thingy that would have raped me in about 2 hits. (this is the equivalent of a lvl 50 soloing Ose or somthing.

also, the towns are shared, but have "Districts" to keep everyone off the same map. and you can toggle through the districts. And when you leave town, and go outside to fight, you get your own coppy of the map, with only your party members on it. sorta takes the fun out of a MMO for me.

also, you cant change jobs, you have to create a whole new character to try a new job.

And theres no search function to see where your friends are (not that they could just come to you anyways, you have to go back to town)

Oh, and the game caps at 20, and they have tons of useless emotes with motions, like /guitar (/em plays a mean air guitar) /drums (hammers out a drum solo), and has really dumb and annoying dance motions for all the jobs.

I actually really enjoy it. I haven't gotten very far into the game since I am still playing some other MMO (wink, wink) but what I have experienced has been really fun. It isn't a difficult game and there are better solo/console RPG's out there (there have only been three times that I had to group so far). This offers PvP though and from what I've seen of the PvP I like it. The quests are pretty standard. Find this and bring it to me, deliver this item/message, so on and so forth. The UI is very intuitive and I personally think the majority of the emotes are fairly funny. (Headbanging is awsome and violent) So far I have 2 characters to ~ level 8 and two others that are still at level 1. I have a Mnk, a Necro/Elementalist, my level 1's are a warrior and mesmer.

There is a ton of "Wut r u duing" and spamming of the same messages over and over in town but the beautiful thing is that 99% of your time isn't in town.

For a game with no monthly fee I am enjoying it currently. Who knows what the mid-game and end-game will be like? So far so good.
