Just out of curiousity, what is your guild and skill level? AND has investing time and money into the guild been worth it? :?

Currently I focus in 3 guilds, goldsmithing level 13, blacksmithing level 15, and fishing level 17.

Out of all of them, fishing has gotten me the most profit, but takes too long. Smithing can make some quick gil for me, but its a gamble, failing a systhesis means lost materials, which in turn means wasted gil. But suceeding means I make some decent gil. I think I'll keep raising the three, but goldsmithing is on hold due to its high cost at higher levels.

I"m in clothcraft and I hate it! it's level 12 right now and I can't even think of how much gil I've allready sunk into it. DAMN HATCHIMAKI'S!

Clothcraft is the devil's work

D'oh! Double post...DELETE ME! :)

Clothcraft level 3, fishing level 1...Just starting.

I'd like to get good at gardening and cooking too.

Fishing lv 4, cooking lv 3...

hmm...anone knows where rod I should use at that level?
I keep using Fastwater fishing rod, and it keeps breaking...which rod is good (and cheapest...lol )for catching big size fish at this lv?

I currently have lvl 5 clothcraft, what a pain! I'm not sure it is woth it. Last night I spent 8k on materials trying to increase my skill, I didn't even gain 1 level and have hardly anything to show for it. Not to mention I used about 30 crystals from my mog house. If anyone can give some advice on how to improve skill, ie items to synth that raise exp and what lvls to do them at, items that have good value and don't break a lot, I would be grateful. Supposedly synthing is a good way to make money, I have no luck yet.

I've got a few skills I've been working on. My highest is Cooking 53, and so far that's been fairly worthwhile. I was careful in raising my skill, only skilling up on either A) foods I could use or B) stuff I could make a small profit on. However, it hasn't been a big moneymaker, so if you're looking for pure profit you might want to try another guild. Me, I wasn't looking for profit, I just wanted to make my own Melon pies, lol. I've found that now that I have decent skill I can make money if I'm smart- a LS friend of mine is a regular Mithkabob customer, and since I grow my own peppers and garlic, and farm for onions, I only lose on the meat, so even giving him a sizeable discount I make about a 400 gil profit per stack, depending on how much I got reamed on meat this week. >.<

My moneymaker by far is Fishing- with my cooking I can craft my own insect paste, which just increases my profits. In an hour of fishing in Rabao I can pull in about 8-10K in pure profit. Even with fishing for gil and not skill, I've gotten my skill rating up to about 27ish.

I've also been playing around with Clothcraft, but haven't gone far in that (skill 3). I only clothcraft when I get raw materials dropping- yag necklaces, specifically. ;) It's so much easier to cut those up into thread, and turn that thread into neat stackable cloth while farming- leaves a lot of inventory space for other goodies. ;) I may take that further someday, but only with drops, like cotton from the Pygmaioi, etc. I have no interest in powerlevelling this craft, I want it to make me gil, not lose it.

I finally got myself together, recently, and got my cooking to 60. It had been sitting at 43 for months.
Other than that, I am a level 1.0 Blacksmith :p

fishing

I have started to fish, but i have yet to catch anything. i am a taru so i bought a taru fishing rod thinking it may help (probably not), but i still havent caught anything. Does anyone know any good places to fish? I am from Bastok so in that area would be nice. Thanks!

I ahve also just started goldsmithing, although my skill isnt even 1 yet LOL! But im havin fun so isnt that what counts? LOL

Lv23 blm Lv10 rdm Lv9 whm

I've got cooking lvl 2 (so far only been making roasted corn, but I stopped when I realized how much stacks of fire crystals sell for), clothcraft lvl 4 (pretty much all Yagudo Necklaces -> grass threads -> grass cloths, which I get from farming, so pure profit there; had to stop though when I needed the necklaces for Norg fame), and fishing lvl 11. I stopped fishing for now too, and sold off all of my fishing gear and my composite rod. From my experiences, the best thing to do to make money and raise skill at the same time is to get fishing image support from the guild in Port Windy and then head to Bomingo Round in Windy Woods and use insect paste to catch moat carp. Oh, and a composite rod is totally worth the investment. It will never break in freshwater, and that's the only place you can catch moat carp anyway (moat carps sell for 4k/stack on the AH). I suggest that you never pay more than 300/stack for insect paste; anymore than that is wasting your gil. Personally, I usually got my paste from a cook in my LS, who gave LS members a discount by selling them for 200/stack. I also only fished during full moons and new moons; that seems to be when you get the most bites.

Thanks for the fishing tip!! It worked great, already catching fish. My finshing skill hasnt gone up much, but the income is much need so that more than makes up for it. Thanks again!!

I love crafting!!
What I have so far:
Woodworking 68
Cooking 53
Clothcraft 42
Alchemy 29
Smithing 10
Bonecraft 9
Fishing 9
Leathercraft 4
Goldsmithing 3

I've got lvl 7 woodworking.

I think that I have made a little more than I have spent. Arrows- they don't sell fast, but make me about 100-200 per sale

Oh well, sounds like there isn't anything much better!

Ditto to him. My Clothcraft is 5, and it's staying there until I can figure out how to not lose a bucketload of Gil on it. I also have 16 fishing.
