For anyone here who plays Guitar Hero (and you all should be playing it, one of the best games on PS2), the official song list is now out....

# Nirvana; "Heart-Shaped Box"
# Primus (original recording); "John the Fisherman"
# Stone Temple Pilots; "Trippin' on a Hole in a Paper Heart
# Anthrax; "Madhouse
# Motley Crue; "Shout at the Devil"
# The Police; "Message in a Bottle"
# The Pretenders; Tattooed Love Boys
# Spinal Tap; "Tonight I'm Gonna Rock You Tonight
# Heart; "Crazy on You"
# Allman Brothers Band; "Jessica"
# Lynyrd Skynrd; "Freebird"
# Avenged Sevenfold; "Beast and the Harlot"
# Dick Dale; "Misirlou"
# Lamb of God; "Laid to Rest"
# Alice in Chains; "Them Bones"
# Reverend Horton Heat; "Psychobilly Freakout"
# Black Sabbath; "War Pigs"
# KISS; "Strutter"
# Butthole Surfers; "Who Was in My Room Last Night?"
# Van Halen; "You Really Got Me"
# Guns N' Roses; "Sweet Child O'Mine
# The Rolling Stones; "Can You Hear Me Knocking?"
# Rush; "YYZ"

Overall, seems like a decent list of songs. The list doesn't include the hidden tracks it seems. Anyone know the release date though?

Hahaha... Can't wait

I wish, I wish they would do entire add-ons or expansion packs or even games just for one band.

I want a Van Halen only Guitar Hero!

This would work great on xbox live.

Awesome, I love Guitar Hero! The new song list sounds great. I can't wait for Rush-YYZ, Black Sabbath-Warpigs, Alice in Chains-Them Bones, and Nirvana-Heart Shaped Box. It's going to be sweet.

Too bad they couldn't have picked a better Police song. That's cool that they are using an original recording of Primus too. But it's probably only because no studio-band could recreate Les Claypool's amazing bass playing.

(also they mispelled the band name "Lynyrd Skynyrd")

that's like.. 1/4 of the total songs :P there better be some metallica T.T old school metallica

I bet the people that wrote the article misspelled skynyrd. The GH people seem to love what they do.

As a guitar player I love message in a bottle, it really stretches the fingers out, it'll definitely be a mid tier difficulty because i know at extreme they'll make it a tough one to pull off.

I know T.T curse you rich bastard! and yet.. a good drummer :| he was a rich kid growing up so ya.. money = yay to him :P

I seem to remember reading some talk about different versions of the game for other countries with other songs on them. Like European versions and stuff. It's too late in the day to look it up, though, since I'm just about to walk out the door at work.

/sigh I bet half you people don't know who these bands are. War Pigs will be easy as it's basic chords almost (I'm a huge Sabbath Fan). Why didn't they use Eruption instead of You Really Got Me? Rush... well it's Rush... Geddy Lee sucks for vocals. The most challenging song on there might be Message In a Bottle by The Police (agree it is a really good finger stretching excerise) or the A7X song. Madhouse is fairly easy to learn on guitar itself. I wont say much and G.N.R. Although I admire you guys for playing this game it's not the same as a real "axe" in hand. They take easy to learn songs and make it DDRish. I played it once and thought it was retarded.

Edit: Forgot the fact that Metallica sucks even old school. You'll learn off of Guitar Hero even that mostly all Metallica guitar riffs are the same just changed around slightly and played at different paces. I'll explain the concept of why you hate Lars Ulrich later then you'll realize although he's a douchebag he had very valid points.

All I could think of the first time I saw their video was 'how impossible would that be in Guitar Hero'. I really can't take their kind of metal very seriously anymore (not since the sixth grade, really, about the time of the third Crue album) but I've actually been looking for any of their stuff in the local shops.

3rd crue album? Is Dragonforce really that old? They don't look it in the video (then again it was you-tube).

Certain music is meant to be way over the top, I highly doubt they were in the studio thinking that people will live or die or make babies to there music.

Freeeeeeebirrrrrrd!

Man ever since Dragonforce was listed on Ozzfest everyone has been crazy over them. Before they were barely known in the states but famous in Europe. You want hard try Freebird that song gets complicated. You want to say Beast and the Harlot by all means but listen to Freebird first.

As to the Metallica and Lars Ulrich thing first I want to say that I am by no means a fan of Metallica and I support Dave Mustaine and Megadeth on Metallica stealing Mustaine's songs, but to my original point. My guitar instructor told me this, these are not my words but I will use his explanation, the reason as to why Lars Ulrich and Metallica sued Napster is not because he himself wanted more money nor the record label. The reason behind is that it's not just the band or the company that releases the album that receivers the money. It is everyone who did their job on the album. This means the P.R. people, the engineers, and the roadies. The coporeation has to divide the sales profit amongst all those people to pay them for working there. This is why, in mine and my guitar teacher's opinion, why Lars Ulrich and the rest of Metallica sued Napster. It was taking money away from other people that did their hard work to only have it taken by people downloading the tunes. I don't necessarly agree 100% with it, but in all mind it does make sense as to why sue. Although sometimes I do think it is because Lars Ulrich wanted more money.

Also I hope they have Slayer for the highest level on Guiter Hero 2 just for the complication that Slayer presents with their riffs and the speed it requires a person to have. If they put Freebird on there why not Raining Blood or Disicple lol.

I let you borrow a CD...Illegal? No.

I burn a CD for you...Illegal? Yes.

I download a song off the internet and put it on a CD...Illegal? Yes.

What is the difference between these three? If somebody wants your music, they will get it. Legality is an issue, but if its a band that i really like, ill probably buy the CD anyways. I use P2P to sample music that i am unfamiliar with, and then if i like it i might go buy the CD...so it should benefit bands to some extent too.

Anyone have any numbers on record sales and increase/decline over the last 20 years to prove if music sharing has affected anyones income?

No, that's just when I stopped being able to listen to that kind of metal without feeling like an ass. I don't really know much more about Dragonforce other than the video I saw on the intertube two weeks ago.

I've stopped bothering to read articles talking about whether P2P has actually affected sales one way or the other. There are too many other things complicating the matter, it's nearly impossible to isolate just downloading music as the sole factor. Personally, I find most music I hear lately just sounds the same, particularly in popular music. Not like the same rhythms or something, but the tonality itself. That certainly leads me to avoid a lot of what the record industry would want me to buy. The engineers and producers are all working with the same toolsets in the same software packages on the same workstations. Why buy 5 albums when you can buy one that sounds like all the rest?

On top of that, all sorts of other distractions are out there to keep people from noticing they're not buying music. It's the same excuse every other media uses. Kids don't buy enough comic books because they're busy watching TV. People don't watch enough TV because they're too busy playing video games. People don't play enough video games because they're too busy using a social networking website. The list goes on and on. It's just a series of excuses for why product isn't moving that isn't 'because it sucks'.

Incorrect. Burning a CD for a friend for personal use actually isn't illegal. It's just like copying a CD or audio cassette onto another audio cassette for a friend, which was deemed legal a long time ago.
