Hey, need some help and a list; want to finish seeing all of the good gundam anime. I say good because the more contemporary Gundam series have really failed in my eyes and gone way off from the original good stuff.

I've seen

Gundam Original
Gundam 0079-0082 (with unit 1 and 2 and 3 and the nuke saga thing)
Gundam Wing
Gundam (dont remember surname but the one where the zeon girl and the federation guy fall in love and work together)

I've played a few gundam games and noticed there's mobile suits like Gundam Alex and such assuming that they all have their own branches to the main Gundam family.

Did anyone know the entire listing of the Gundams and which ones are good to watch? I know there's a lot of them can just chose your favorites. And I forgot I've seen Gundam Seed (which was okish...lol downfall started there and onward imo)

thanks,

Gimp

Pretty much every Gundam series (Except SEED and SEED Destiny, those series are absolute shit) are good.

You might want to give Zeta, ZZ, Char's Counterattack, Unicorn, F91, Victory, G, X, and 00 a go. Not sure if I've missed any, but if I have, I'll be sure to recommend those as well.

Gerry is likely QCDN's biggest Gundam fan. So I would trust what ever he says about that particular issue. :P

Gerry's problem is that he's too much of a Gundam fanboy.

Yes, there is such a thing. And trust me. There are people who would probably have a heart attack at seeing me say that.

From the UC timeline, F91 and Victory are, well, not the best. F91 suffers horribly from being a series condensed into a movie and Victory was just never that good to begin with.

08th Mobile Suit Team, however, is definitely worth watching.

Gundam X is okay, G Gundam, on the other hand, should only be undertaken if you have a strong love for the vaguely surreal (The Gundam for "Neo Holland" is a fucking transforming windmill...).

Watch G Gundam. Its so cheesy its good.

Gundam Wing and Gundam are the best of the series imo.

G Gundam is also damn good for cheesy value :P I'd say Wing is my favorite though. The themes and story and characters were all just so interesting and good. But since you've seen Gundam Wing hmm

if you wanna play a gundam game prolly no one has, find a Pippin and get the Gundam game for it. It's only in Japanese but once you figure out what to do it's pretty fun.

Bleh, I hated Gundam Wing. The story was ridiculous, the characters were flat and universally annoying, and it wasn't even particularly original.

Yeah I've seen G Gundam, and tyrath hit it right on the nail, so cheesy its good thats probrably the only anime i can say that about

And yeah I'd rate Gundam on top with Wing(although I havent seen it in years) with the best and 0079; thanks for the input!

I've seen Char's Counterattack(the movie right?) pretty badass as I can recalll "You wont beat me, not with that machine" Shit lol, guess I'm sounding like a fanboy now too. Dunno I've never gotten into the robot anime series too much cept Gundam and I'll check out 08th Gundam first. I have to ask first though has anyone played Gundam: Journey to Jaburo for PS2 and know which series Gundam Alex and the blue GM model are from?

Hmm I always loved Gundam Wing, tbh I really couldn't get into any other Gundam series than Wing. So it's my favorite.

The Gundam Alex is from 0080 War in the Pocket which is... okay. One of those Gundam stories designed to emphasize the horror and futility of war and all that.

The blue GM... I don't feel like starting up my PS2 to find out, so I'm guessing you're talking about the Blue Destiny, which was a set of Sega Saturn games and a manga series.

My picks:

G Gundam - I didn't find it cheesy at all. The battle system is just brilliant - a latex bodysuit laced with sensors that makes the mobile suit mimic your every move? An evolving Gundam pretty much possessed by a demon that demands human sacrifice? Not one, but two hotties (I'm looking dead at you Rain Nakamura and Allenby Beardsley)!??!? Show fucking has it *all*.

Gundam W, and Endless Waltz - The show that started it for me. The characters are a straight rehash of those from the original series, of course, but the whole Aristocratic OZ was just sweet. I had a huge crush on Dorothy, also.

08th MS Team - echoing what Raesvelg said, this show is worth it solid.

Gundam 0083 Stardust Memories - two of the best designs, ever, for Gundams appear in this, one of which is nuclear-powered and carries a nuclear payload. I loved it.

(I'm surprised nobody's a fan of Turn ∀Gundam lol - nobody's all about the warthog-faced Gundam??)

Gonna correct you on one thing, 0083 is "Stardust Memories". War in the Pocket was 0080.

And for those who are fans of the UC timeline Gundam series, watch Gundam Unicorn. I cannot stress this enough. You'll get more out of it if you're intimately familiar with the majority of stuff leading up to (and including) Char's Counterattack, but it's a great show either way.

And once you have, you'll be stuck waiting 6 months for the next episode, just like me, and my spite will be satisfied.

lol, thanks. It's been so long since I've seen either that I forgot their byline names. changed :)

And going back to your edit... I've never watched Turn ∀Gundam, though I've always meant to at least watch the first few episodes.

Even if the series caused me to develop a profound loathing for Syd Mead.

It's why I didn't exactly say much about those series other than they were good (And in my view, worth watching), except SEED and SEED Destiny of course. A better thing to do instead of watching the Cosmic Era timeline is watching Macross Frontier, it does what SEED tried to do, only it wasn't absolute SHIT!

My all time favorite series is 08th MS Team.

UC is definitely the best of the series, but it gets worse as time goes on.

G Gundam just can't be taken seriously. Even if you go into it trying to take it seriously, you won't be able to by the end of it. Hell, not even by the 5th episode. I still like it, it's funny, and the english dub is hilariously awesome.

Wing, albeit slightly fruity is a pretty good show. Great soundtrack, lot of people have a nostalgia for it, as it was their original Toonami Gundam series.

I hated SEED. SEED Destiny is even worse. Chicks love it, because there's homolust and it's basically just a cheesy love story with action scenes.

00 was pretty cheesy overall, but it had nice homages, amazing animation and overall was my favorite of the series after UC.

Pretty much. It's probably why it's my favorite series of the bunch. That, and the complete diversity in design.

Devil Gundam and its iterations are just amazing, The G Gundam and God/Burning Gundam are killer, and the Nobel Gundam is quite possibly my favorite design ever - a giant Sailor Moon lol.

You have probably already seen the 08th MSG.

My favorite gundam game is Gundam Side Story 0079: Rise from the Ashes for the dreamcast. You can watch youtube videos of it and see for yourself.

Lets not forget:

The best/most hilarious dub of an attack ever. And there are many variations and other ridiculous attacks in the show.

Agreed!
SEED was a bunch of pretty guys trying to live up to Amuro and Char..... just badly. Heck even some of the mobile suit designs and episode synopsis are CARBON COPIES of each other.
I can't bring myself to watch Destiny.... and I made it to a grand total of 3 episodes of Gundam 00 before I decided... it was over.

War in the Pocket was sort of sad, but good.
I'm still waiting for Heero Yuy to kill Ralena.... Or Wufei to get bitch slapped by Noin or Treize or Lady Un or Trowa... Trowa would be more amusing
The best way to know if a Gundam series is good... is by following a simple formula...

Number of Gundams is inversely proportional to amount of awesome

Now if you excuse me.... I'm going to encourage Haman Karn to slap around Cha.....errr Quattro Bajeema
