The movie adaption of Gainax's hit mecha series from 2007, Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann was released on DVDs earlier this week, and has now been subbed by BSS.

You can find their release on their site: http://www.bssubs.net

If you've never seen TTGL before, you can still watch the movie, as it is a retelling of the original series with less filler, and reanimated scenes. The essential collection.

This tells half the story, the other half will be finished in Lagann-hen, coming to movie theaters in Japan within a month or two I think, so we should see it by the end of the year.

This is probably my second favorite anime ever, I recommend this to anyone, regardless of taste.

Sounds really interesting. Would got to Wiki to check it out a bit more but I don't want it ruined. Whats the general plot of the movie, minimal spoilers if you could.

It's the same story as the anime but cut down. It's like the Individual Eleven and Laughing Man Ghost in the Shell movies. The anime is the best way to get the story though, imo, it's definitly one of the best out there and skippin' it over and settlin' for the movie would be terrible.

Yeah I'd recommend watching the movie after the anime. The second half of the first movie is done differently. And I'm told the second movie will mostly be different.

Well I'd expect the second movie to be different after a premature ending like that. Nice way to spend two hours though, and the added scenes were really a sight to behold.
