First off - if your PT is having problems in Gustav Tunnel at level 42 fighting VT and IT+, GTFO and back to Crawlers nest. I have never had any problems in Gustav Tunnel until last night.

We started out in Gustav as the only PT. At 38, bats are IT++, Hawkers were IT++ and IT+++, and Gobs were IT+++ and IT++++. Needless to say, it's a great freaking place to be at that level if you can handle it. It does top out at 41 though where you should leave or try farther into Gustav. So we set up camp close to the tunnel exit and start out clearing our camp of bats because we are doing a Distortion SC and wanted to Burst Blizzaga. We chain 2 on the bats and I grab 3 Hawkers and easily get Chain 5 - both mages were over 50% MP still. This night will be awesome, oh yes! We were getting 200+ on every kill, all the way up to 280 on a couple of them. A typical pull would be for me to grab hate with my RA, position the monster in front of the NIN blinker, and tank for 1 to 2 hits until SATA went off. At that point it was glued to the NIN for most of the fight and we proceded to slaughter it. It worked well. Our Distortion was doing 1200-1400 damage consistently. Piercing Arrow for 250, SATA Viper Bite for 450, Distortion SC for 300, Blizzaga Burst for 300. Things were going great.. So why is this in the Flame forum?
Well, after our first chain, the FOX clan show up. Who is the FOX clan? This was a PT of 1 WHM and 5 DRG :shock: Everyone had the name FOXblahblah and all were 41 and 42, and severely underequipped. And they move IN FRONT of our camp. Our BRD does a /s and tells them that they will aggro that Poacher that spawns in the first room. No answer. So I leave to pull. We get to Chain 3 and I pull another Hawker. Just then the Poacher pops, I swing wide around and behind it and get to camp safely with my Hawker in tow. Sure enough, the Poacher aggros the FOX PT, 2 of them die and they have to zone that and a Reaper they were fighting. So we finish our Hawker for Chain 4 and decide we have enough time to take on a bat pop for chain 5 before we Escape out. We finish the bat and just draw aggro from the Poacher which returned - BLM casts Escape and we are gone. /sigh.
We return and find another PT (thanks Ryme!
) in our spot so we have to move our camp up a ways, and the FOX PT nowhere to be found. Good, I thought they were gone. Then I went to pull. Nope..they were there...this time sitting in a Reaper pop zone. FFS... I do a "/s Gob pop here" and continue on. Do they move? Nope.. Sure enough, not 10 min later as I was leaving to grab another mob, I see them aggro a Reaper while fighting a Robber. Hi Ho, Hi Ho, it's off to zone they go. I run back to our camp and /s a warning to the other PT "/s gobs are on their way to zone". To which one guy from their PT tells me "deal with it then" ... Ok.. and Escape we go.
We return yet again to find the FOX PT camped at the closest camp next to the tunnel exit. Well at least they were out of pop range. Then this anon THF, who will remain nameless because she apologized, decides to try a Goblin Poacher. She pulls it and attacks it in OUR FREAKING CAMP. We tell her to GTFO cause we didn't want to take an AoE bomb. So she runs up the tunnel a ways. Unknown to us, she decides to zone it instead of kill it so I pull. While we are fighting a Hawker for Chain 4, the Poacher comes back and 2 shots our BLM while the BRD is singing lullaby and sleeps it. I go off on the Hawker with Sharpshot + Barrage and draw some massive hate with a 400 damage Barrage. I blink 5 hits and start taking damage. Finally the THF gets a SATA off on the NIN and I am free of hate. At this point the Gob wakes up and attacks our BRD who tries frantically to get another Lullaby off - not fast enough and as I was gearing up for a ranged shot on the poacher, the taru BRD goes down. The Hawker goes down. The RDM casts Cure 3 on me since I was in the red but had shadows up and she pulls hate so she runs. I hit it with another RA and the NIN provokes it and gets Hate, we all zone. ARGH!!
After 20 more min of downtime we return. The FOX PT must have finished off the Poacher since they were still there. So we continue on actually for awhile before the FOX PT strikes again. This time, they were fighting a bat and linked another. With 2 bats on them, one of the five DRGs is almost dead so he runs from battle, straight into a Poacher. Obliteration ensues. We pull the goblin off and kill it but it was too late for them. 4 of them bit it. And there they sat..dead...for 40 more minutes while we finished up and our NIN tank had to log. We weren't going to raise unless they asked and we certainly weren't going to be nice about it. I think they cost us enough for the night.
All in all we had over an hour of downtime and missed out on 4 to 5k XP. We averaged just over 4k an hour for the time we were there which tells me were were actually closer to 5k an hour considering our heavy downtime.
So, watch out for the FOX clan...or whatever they are. /fume
