Guy Splits Face Into Pieces

The video won't work for me, and it's pissing me the fuck off. I've seen it before, from www.liveleak.com (a great place if you like looking at stuff like this), but the video stopped after impact, showing nothing else. I WANNA SEEEEE

My heart sank when I saw that...

Honestly, I was watching after he hit his face with my hand over my eyes peeking through between the fingers...

Not exactly as bad as I thought, but definitely not a sight I'd ever care to see live, much less to a loved one or a loved one's loved one.

Fuck anyone...

I'd never wish this on them.

x_x

This is just one of those things where I'll cling to the ole saying "Ignorance is Bliss".

/facepalm

He died a few days after that.

Dont mean to dispute that but, source?

Cant remember which, but a local news agency to where it happened was covering it. They updated their website with his progress everyday.

Darwin Award?

Don't think it qualifies. This guy was just a poor sap who got caught on the wrong end of physics in a place where numerous people were seeking a thrill.

but he was jumping off a CLEARLY not safe place to be.. that's pretty god damn stupid >.>

Not really. Jumping off of cliffs and shit in to water is a pretty common place thing now. It was just a bad accident.

Its not like "a man that just bought $400 of illegal fireworks and hid them in the oven for when his friends came over because he didn't want to share. He forgot they were there a few hours later and decided to make food. His house exploded."

Oh, hm, I should probably take those fireworks out of my oven then. I could have sworn it was a good idea to hide them there...

I dunno, I'd still say it works for darwin award, even jumping off cliffs and shit seems pretty good candidate cause that's not thinking >.> or not thinking about survival for sure. Ah well, it was stupid, and he sadly paid the ultimate price for it but he has no one but himself to blame.

It's stupid, but it's not outrageously stupid. I mean, not 30 seconds before another guy does the exact same thing and is just fine, and I'm sure other's have as well. An idea of what get's a Darwin award is having someone stab you to test if your bullet-proof vest will stop a knife.

Right, it's obviously not the safest thing to do, by any means. But it's been done before (even by the victim), so naturally they would assume, "Hey, everything's going to be fine!". I know when I do things (though, not as reckless), I naturally assume nothing can go wrong, so I'm sure he thought since he was familiar, all would be good.

Like in Ravic or Makelith's example, that's just plain stupidity and beyond human thinking. What this guy did was reckless, stupid, but not insanely unthinkable to the human mind.

Yea that thrill doesn't even tip the scale at extreme thrill seeking. That would be mild for many thrill seekers.

He just took a bad leap, quite literally and suffered the consequences .. stupid accident more than anything, just a stupid and very unfortunate accident.

Stupid people doing stupid shit, who seriously injure or kill themselves, are all examples of nature trying to keep the gene pool a little less diluted. The degree of stupidity is irrelevant. Millions of people text and drive at the same time, and somehow there are relatively few accidents compared to the number of potential incidents. Just because a lot of people do something many times over without incident, that doesn't make it any less deserving of a Darwin Award. Poor judgement usually leads to undesired outcomes. A final thought, reckless and stupid are pretty much synonyms.

Not exactly. Thrill seekers can actually be beneficial to a species. It just so happens he was in a bad accident.

And really, I'm willing to bed that place is pretty safe. People have likely been jumping there for years without an accident. Even if there's been accidents, most probably did not result in deaths. The guy was just unlucky.

If he was doing something obviously dangerous, such as walking on train tracks or jumping out of a moving vehicle speeding down the highway, that qualifies for darwin awards.

Saying its his own fault is pretty god damned stupid.

How are thrill seekers beneficial to the species? The only benefits I see are stupid people dying so there's less of em for the species :P

and it is his own god damn fault, HE CHOSE TO GO THERE AND JUMP!! So how is it NOT his fault? He didn't have to go there and jump off that ledge at all >.>

How is thrill seeking = stupid? Just look at that one dude who owns Virgin. He's one of the most successful men on the plenty, and also a huge thrill seeker, he's just enjoying his life. Accidents happen, and this was an accident.

And no one is arguing it isn't his fault. But it also doesn't mean it was a darwin award. They are reserved for people who do outrageously stupid shit, like fishing with dynamite and blowing yourself up. You may not find base jumping fun and may think its crazy, but plenty of people do it and find enjoyment from doing it, so I don't think it would classify as a darwin.
