Guys, its over -- the ffxi killer is out

Make a video acting out the "tuck" scene from Silence of the Lambs!

should do something like:

Hi, my name is <name>. I've always been interested in kids, and I see this game as an opportunity to get in contact with them.

Subtle, yet effective.

LMAO this will really get you in!

i like hello kitty island adventure!

I always make this joke in my linkshells. hahaha. r8^

Yes, necro. But did anyone get in the beta? lol

I tried. But when it came down to making a video about why I should be in the beta I didn't feel like putting in the effort...

I turned in a video. Apparently telling them I want to play so I can meet small girls was a bad idea. :\

Thats about how far i got too.

Same, I don't have that much care for something this stupid.

Sorry to bump this. But I actually got into the closed beta. Figured I'd let you guys know what it's all about...

Basically you're a person who has come to Sanrio Land. You get to find all the keys that are locking up all your favorite sanrio characters! I think. I kinda just clicked through a bunch of it...

On to game play... It's a point and click system. You left click over there and your character moseys over there. You don't gain experience by killing. You gain levels by harvesting, gardening, wood collecting, farming, cooking, and whacking cute little animals with your red broom till they go unconscious and you pillage their bodies for items. Basically you do quests and perform any sort of function to gain levels. Everything you can do is handled by your mouse and when it comes down to collecting 100+ of something, it takes its toll on your finger as well as your mouse. Farming is not very difficult once you reach level 10-12 since you can kill tougher animals that drop books that sell for 400 money to NPCs. The money system is almost solely driven by selling to NPCs. The only player to player money making is done by selling items to other players in trade. But most people farm their crap so good luck with that. Also, the more substantial quests have voiced dialog. All in cute and cuddly voices pleading for your help.

You can have pets. Monsters drop cards (chance of dropping is 1/100) which you can right click on and essentially "equip" them. You can have up to 3 monsters at a time. You can level them and I assume they can help you attack things or something. I really haven't done much with it since it costs money to feed and stuff and I really just could care less.

Now for the best part! You get your very own ranch once you reach the second area, Florapolis. On your ranch you plant seeds of all sorts and fertilize them until enough time has passed that you can collect your fruits and veggies. These luscious tasties can be turned into foods later on once you obtain a book with the skill in it for you to learn. Now, once you complete enough quests to earn enough "friendship" with all your new sanrio friends you can obtain a "land certificate #1" on which to build your house. Or instead of wasting all that time doing quests you can farm up 5000 money and buy one from an NPC. You get this quest from Kitty herself cause she's trapped in her house because an ebil widdle dinosaur is blocking the way! Poor Kitty. I'll help you!
Oddly enough the quest was glitching for me by not registering in my quest log and the GMs (some who speak like a 13 year old texting their omgwtfbff jill) wanted me to shut up about it after I waited an hour for them to help gave me the "land certificate #2" (worth 40,000) and 5,000 money for me to go away. (See mom, complaining does get you places in life!)
Now for the task of building my house. For this house I needed to collect 400 clover, 400 pieces of clay, and 600 small branches. Great. Now I can tell my grandchildren how I got arthritis. Sad to say I actually accomplished this task this evening after several hours of working on it since about 2 days ago. Now on to build my house.
This is how building your house works in this game. Building your house is broken up into 6000 segments. Each segment is performed by you (or your friends if you have any in the game who are willing to waste hours of their time for nothing in return), it takes roughly 80-10 seconds to perform each segment to which is sucks 5 of your stamina. I have 200 total stamina from my gear, which as far as I know is as much as you can get in the closed beta. Stamina can be replenished by watermelon juice. The juice takes 5 watermelons to make so it is kind of a pain in the ass to make since you usually only get 3-4 melons per harvest of a plant and unless you're constantly fertilizing your plants it takes forever to get them to ripen enough to take. So far I'm 600/6000 thanks to me saving a bunch of watermelons before and 2 people from my guild helping me out for a half hour or so.
Lets do some calculations here. I'll just use the low end times to make it seem better for me. This also doesn't include if you get some friends to help you. Each friend contributes another output equal to your own. And you can have a max of 5 help at a time.
6000 x 8 seconds = 48,000 seconds
48,000 seconds / 60 seconds per minute = 800 minutes
800 minutes / 60 minutes per hour = 13.333 hours.
13.333 freaking hours to build a house. Even if you have 5 others there to help it will take over 2 and a half hours to build a house.

Now this game isn't so bad. It's just the long task of building the house that is making it seem tough. And the fact that I must rush to build it before end of closed beta on 12am June 1st hong kong time. I actually don't mind the game itself. They'll be inputing many changes into the open beta and of course release that may totally change how things are played currently. With all the complaints I hear I'm pretty sure they will make house building a lot less difficult. The GMs in the game are available for your every need. They may take time to respond but unlike most games they actually help you. The GMs also create games and contests for the closed beta players so they can have rewards that no one else will get. Just last week they had two contests where you must collect certain items and you get a pet solely created for the closed beta testers. A giant, puffy dinosaur and tickets to enter into a raffle they are holding for real sanrio products. They contest I'm working on currently is building your house and sending in a picture of it along with your farm and yourself. I'm hoping they will send us a boxed set of the software or something. And I guess it forces me to not slack on my farm.

I would suggest those who want an easy, carefree type game to play to try the open beta which is slated to start in July. It's enjoyable and rewarding in its own way. And if it's free in a beta test, might as well give it a try! Here's some screenshots of it all.

My Pet Scorpion thingy, I have an array of others including a bee, an armadillo, a crab shaped like a toaster, a sheep shaped like a mini-fridge, a starfish, and a boar shaped like a moving box.

Kitty's quest that wouldn't work for me and got me 1337 land and money from GMs.

Faule that is so cute. XD Though, I see this and want to play Ragnarok online again for some reason.

Does this game have a crafting system that I can possibly dominate?

I never played RO. But according to Langly the whole engine is basically the same. And it is beyond cute. Almost sickening at times. But I have to save Kitty and her friends. :(

Not really a crafting system. You learn skills via books you either buy or get from drops/quests. They teach you how to make a certain item and what ingredients you need. So far there are no HQs though you do gain skill in the trade. I'm not sure where they'll go with it. Though I plan on taking advantage of n00bz via extorting things I can farm and they can't. :3

The only thing I can think of for a FFXI killer or at least trouble for it is an actual Diablo 3.

Dear Daniel is so cute.
I hope he wasn't too worried about Hello Kitty's predicament.

my house is 2200/6000 complete.. only an 11 hour timesink so far, not counting the 450 pieces of materials, or the items it took to get them.

Also, i finished the pet and farm quests too late for the raffle ticket. /cry.

Go figure everyone with a vagina flocks to play it =X

@Misi: what server on RO did you play on?
