Accounts Banned (Jan. 25)



We would like to report the termination today of multiple accounts held by players involved in the usage of third-party tools or cheats, or engaged in RMT (Real Money Trading) activities.

Over 6,100 accounts were permanently banned due to terms of service violations. Details of the violations are as follows:

- Usage of tools that allow enhanced character movement.
Approx. 2,300 cases

- Usage of tools that circumvent game mechanics with respect to the timing of ability use, etc. in certain areas or at points where Notorious Monsters appear.
Approx. 850 cases

- Accounts from people that were previously confirmed to have RMT connections, or that had violated the user agreements but re-subscribed to PlayOnline.
Approx. 1,850 cases

- RMT-related activity
Approx. 1,100 cases

The termination of these accounts has led to the removal of approximately 17.2 billion gil from circulation.

We would like to remind players that as well as adversely affecting game balance, the use of third-party tools or cheats can also have consequences that are not immediately obvious, such as introducing damaging viruses, and comprising the security of private account details. Usage of third-party tools will not be tolerated within FINAL FANTASY XI, and we will continue to severely penalize any players found to be in violation of the PlayOnline Member Agreement.

We would also like to announce that the issue where players could illegally obtain gil through the Quest "An Explorer's Footsteps" has been fixed as of the maintenance work that was carried out on Jan. 16th. We have also taken action against any accounts that were confirmed to have participated in illegal acts related to this issue.

As we continue to ensure a fun and balanced environment for FINAL FANTASY XI, we hope that our players enjoy the game as it was intended and take care to avoid involvement in activities that violate the PlayOnline Member Agreement.

Divided by the number of servers wich is like 32?
So some 500M gil/server. Not to bad, but i can think of several single
persons with that amount of gil on them.
 
I always get nervous when i see these things thinking i got banned for using Windower. >.> I'm just glad i'm not banned.

Wait, so comming back after a ban gets you re-banned?
I've some GM calls to make when I get home.

I'll laugh if all what they did was ban mules of legit people across the server and not touch their high lv chars

or most of the mules of rmt then save the rest for another "intimidation" strike on 3rd party users

Yeah, if you get perma'd from FFXI and try to sign up on the same CC you'll get flagged for another ban in these monthly sweeps. I imagine a second CC (with different billing information for maximum protection) would probably get you in under the radar. Moreso a precaution for the CGF leaders re-regging 200 new accounts under the same card over and over.
 
With all these characters getting banned recently and the noticeable, natural decline of population... do you guys think there might be some server mergers soon?
 
Nah I doubt server merges any time soon. What they need to do is repremend the players for them slacking. 17.2 billion gil> 500mil/server> not a notable difference but combined with the trillions of gil they have pulled we'd be rich! I could afford to level the jobs I wish to!

For 2 hours, until everything inflated due to the influx of gil to the players that was not previously possessed by us.

But it was a nice thought :)

SE sent me a letter a month after i got banned asking me to come back and spy on people and go white hat for them, Even offered to pay for my account and give me a character name change to boot. Sounded like a sweet deal and all, but im really done with ffxi. I didnt know they ban you for remaking new accounts tho, just thought that and my letter compared to that was funny.
and you gotta think, making a new account probly means those people bought new discs since they needed new registration codes, OUCH!
