Can any account be hacked into with a foriegn 3rd party tool or only the accounts on PC?

PC, PS2 and Xbox accounts are all the same. So any.

It is, however, harder to use 3rd party tools on Xbox and PS2, so PC is more at risk. It is also harder to get infected with a virus on PS2 and Xbox.

However, I heard a lot of Xbox accounts has been getting hacked, due to the Xbox thingy (in some people's sigs) being a kind of back-door to FFXI accounts.

Meh... Can't sleep. I did some research... Alot of the stolen accounts were dispatched to Kuftal Tunnel and Wajaom Woodlands; and the majority are at Hades and Bahamut.


Oh and... I was feeling a bit crazy today, so I re-activated an old account on Bahamut and found Andrene camping Amemet. Do any of these characters next to her look familiar? ~~ They are most likely stolen too.

The bitch took my boyfriend's name off bazaar message. It makes no sense now...lol

Slightly better geared than most BLU I've seen. :3

And uh, I forgot to take screenshots, but here are a few lines of what Andrene said to me. Of course I didn't want to alarm them...so I played the dumb noob who asks obnoxious questions.

She found out that her character had migrated to another server (Bahamut I believe), and changed name to Andrene. I think this makes it rather obvious gilsellers are behind it.

Just wow..... Those RMT are really getting desperate. It's sad that so many people are losing their hard earned chars. Getting hacked is like losing all your saved data from a memory card D:

I really hope SE finds away to stop this and hopefully return some of the accounts.

How does an inactive account get hacked though? How do they even know it exists if no one
is playing the account for them to read off access information to it? Even if they DL a program, they still havent enterd in any passwords or whatever so im confused X_X.

Well, I'm guessing they might still have PlayOnline installed, with password saved. As your POL-ID is always saved on your computer, it can simply read the file containing your saved POL-ID and password, and then send it to its master, who can then access it.

For those of you that have found malware on your PC that refuses to be deleted, try the Unlocker. It's a great tool that allows you to delete stubborn files that give such errors as:

Cannot delete file: Access is denied
There has been a sharing violation.
The source or destination file may be in use.
The file is in use by another program or user.
Make sure the disk is not full or write-protected and that the file is not currently in use.

Hackers are getting very annoying. Hacking is considering as stealing someone's properties. How come those people never get arrested? I am very confused....... We all should complain this to SE so they can do something about it. They hacked into people account, and all they get is getting banned. :nono:? I think they are trying to hack more recently because they cant make enough gil like they did in the past. This is very sad for someone who has been playing this game for 4 years and end up with nothing..... Fuk all hackers bastard!

The US is not going to send FBI Agents or regular policemen to China to investigate account hacking in FFXI. While this issue is very important to you, it's not so important to the gov't. From a business standpoint I'm not so sure it's even that important to SE. They're still getting their 13.95 a month, and they haven't seen a dramatic decrease in customers since this has started. Everyone knows their "customer service" isn't exactly top notch.
