Hacked? - Returning player

Hey guys,

Ive been sat on my FFXI account for about 2 months, didnt want to play until i was settled into University. Thought id log onto my account and get a copy of WotG so i can start playing again in January.

I log on and to my surprise i didnt get asked to pay my bill for the month. I notice that my PoL name in the top left hand corner changed from Spriggan to Ovan or something. After that i kepted getting the message saying that im being d/ced because someone else is logging onto my account. Needless to say i was gutted, so i kepted trying and trying and i was logged on long enough to get a PoL message saying my Password is now invalid (used to be 6 chars needs to be 8 now).

So i go through step by step and i now have changed my password, dont know if the person who hacked it kept the same PW or PoL has a new function that lets the person who has the longest log on history changed it if its invalid (sounds weird but ive seen PoL do crazy things in the past), i have no idea.

So im not updating the game and seeing if theres and damage to my characters, looking at FFXIAH it looks like the guy has been using the account rather then striping it: http://www.ffxiah.com/player.php?id=322028&sid=16

My question is... has anyone seen "Spriggan" runing around with RMT or anything like that?
 
Seems like I've seen it but I doubt it.

If you need help, I'll see what I can do. I'm slowly getting up there and would be willing to put forth towards re-vamping you. Same thing happened to a couple friends of mine and I'm gonna be helping them once I can.

If that's what people do, no wonder the RMT's are still active. Its people like that, and people that buy relic weapons with RL money, that have made the RMT's start hacking accounts, I guess...
 
Why slander him for buying gilz like, 3 years ago when RMTs didn't have to hack lol. He only did it because he was hacked...so if you stand behind what you say. It's a loop hole to only get worse to cause more people to buy gil and it'll just infect the entire game. Mine-as-well quit now? Or am I reading/comprehending this wrong?

Obviously you have hope for people where as Tim, and I agree with Tim, people for the most part are complete idiots that will actually keep doing that.
 
Spriggan I had seen a lot of things bought/sold by you on the AH. But hadn't seen nor heard from you for a long time.

I was under the impression you were back, just not hangin out in NT. It would seem you were picked off.

Thanks for the info, I finished updating the game and i logged on. Seems like the person playing my account most likely bought it, my account really hasnt been raped i still have all my ra/ex gear. I even have a couple of semi high priced items that i didnt have which is alittle iffy. Either the person playing my account bought gil and got these items or borrowed them from someone in-game.

Kind of have a problem if he borrowed the items because if i sell them i dont want what could be someone just being helpful to be without that item that they let someone they trusted hold.
 
Not to be a prick but the dude jacked your account. If anything those high priced items are yours now. It might suck for the person who lent them but that's no longer your problem. But if anything, I'd wait a good week before selling them. If he did have friends they're going to send you /tells. Ask them questions about your char and what not. If someone did lend you items they'll say it without you asking about said items.

If no one says anything then it's all yours.

First, ask about a decent item that is yours if they say anything about items. Like if they mention something bring up another item you have. If they ask about a PCC bring up another item like Noble's(Just two items as an example, don't know what you have) If they say the Noble's is theres aswell, then it's possible they're lying.

Not to mention, you got your account back...either they didn't think you would come back or they are just ammateurs (SP) and forgot to edit info or something. So in the end, what you have on your characters, are now yours. I agree with Myrrh 100% on this situation.
 
So you quit for a while. Got hacked while you were away, and your character was sold. After a few months you come back, this character has changed hands twice now, and not once has the log-in info been changed? I'm just trying to get straight on this.

Why do you think someone bought your account? Did you pay for the account during the time you didnt play? And that you could login with the same PW looks a bit fishy imo. You sure not just someone you shared your info played with your character? That does not really sound like you got hacked.

I agree with Chii on that one, it definitely doesn't look like a hack job, the PW would have changed immediately once it was obtained. Has it been so long since you've played that perhaps you did forget giving the information to a friend?

Regardless, ask around, especially if there are new people on your friendlist. If you infact did forget giving the information to a friend, get some ginko :P otherwise, at least they didn't jack your shit too.
