So i get kicked off from someone else logging me on. I have a real life friend that knows my password so im not to worried about it. I wait a minute and try to log back on. Only to get Password Error Password Error Password Error. Your account has been temporarily suspended due to 3x password error ina row. I get on my friends account. I call GM. i wait a few minutes , and Fubio is online on /away. Eventually a few minutes later offline. I have a talk with GM's which went no where fast. Basically them saying its not there problem that i gave out my password. which i replied of course saying nobody else had it. then it gets into some bs with account info and what not and they say they can change my password for me if i have all teh info. I just need to call SE. I wait about 5 minutes, upset as ever. I try logging back onto my account. What do you know. Im able to log onto my account. I log onto a naked ninja and no gil.
Giving out your password is no joke. No matter how much you trust that person, it shouldnt be done. If you care about what happens to your account anyways. I know it wasnt my friend, i mean. Hes one of my best friends in real life, and just simply wouldnt do such a thing. I dont know how this happened. Ive heard of it happening before though, heard stuff about key loggers and shit that i dont know anything about. All i know is ive lost some valuable items, and im just giving warning to those out there. Its just stupidity to give out your password. Ive known a few people now that have lost everything due to it. If anyone has any idea who did this. Or hell maybe your reading it now, contact me. PM me, please. Going to keep going, just letting youknow , i earned that shit, i played 3 years for taht shit, you didnt earn shit. Anyways, Im out, upset as ever, you knwo the usual fuck the world (FF world) its not fair blah blah. Peace. KEEP YO SHIT PRIVATE no joke. this shit happens. dont think it coudlnt happen to you.

I didn't really follow most of what you said... at one part you said no one had the password but your rl friend, the other you said "Do not give out your password. no shit". Is that saying that you did give it out? <.<

Either way, look at the AH and see who sell your stuff and you can figure out who it was by doing that.
 
Well. i started out saying how a real life friend has my account info so wasnt too worried about it.. but when the GM asked i said of course... that nobody had it. beacuse i didnt want him saying basically waht he said anyways. which was that its not there problem that i gave out my password, that they strongly suggest not doing so. Redness has my account info. but i told GM that nobody did. more clearer? >.> and the items that tehy took arent really AH'able.. Cerberus Mantle Speed Belt Unsho well Unsho and PCC are AHable. hell maybe ill find out who it is eventually.. we'll see i guess :/

Achelois has my Aristocrats and Royal Cloak was and still is in the AH. :) i got lucky. somewhat...its not like i cant recover.. i have 99 clothcraft and 7mil that was in teh AH (not selling buy my shit peeps) and Achelois had my Aristocrats, which i can sell. If anyone will buy it. :/
 
Well that is a good thing heh Atleast you'll be able to make a recovery once your stuff sells

Really sorry to hear that happened...
Though...well, I'm sure you don't care to hear this...but while it wasn't your friend that did it, your friend having the password could have very well lead to the cause, if he happened to have some program/accessed some site that popped a keylogged on his comp. =/ But then, the odds are the same that it happened on your comp, not his...just sayin'...
 
that sucks. Though can see why gm chould not help. There no way of proving it your char, or that it your stuff. Hope you atleast find out who it is.
 
Yup, like Mish said, it might not have been sniffed out of your own computer, but maybe your friend is a bit less careful about what gets installed on his computer. Sure, I could trust my best bud to not give out a password I give him, but if he's knee-deep into dubious downloads and questionnable third-party programs, chances are my password isn't all that safe anymore.

Sorry to hear you've lost your stuff.

that sucks man i have a similar story,
i used to share an account with my mother brother and my moms ex boyfriend, to make a long story short ex boyfriend moves out gets ffxi steals all of our stuff, and drops some of the R/EX stuff that u cant get back anymore that we all loved, brother wasnt affected at all he was and still is a noob lvl 20 with nothign too great. so all his shit was there still. my mom lost all her gear about 2 mil worth id say and its hard for her to get gil shes a whm and does teles all day to get anywhere lol. anyways the ls and i donated gear back, i found out who he was on game and begged and pleaded him to give me back the crap, my emp pin Leaping boots + more and about 400k at the time was all i had.
well long story short i gave him some of his RL cds he gave me all my equip back and me and him are kool now but my mom dont like him much. hes not a bad guy he just doesnt deserve what he got. and neither did we..

anyways sorry yeah man that sucks this shit happens, if you play on a pc get Zonealarm pro and install that that will block everything and everything .. ive had keyloggers on my computer before it was ugly.. neway GL recovering
 
lol! Might as well make a whole forum just for all the idiots who give out their info. We have a fine collection going.
 
Another thing to be careful of with your trusted friends having your info. While it is fine for someone trusted to have access(I do it) you have to realize that the info is only as secure as where they store it.
A friend of mine back in the UO days had a maxed out character with tons of shit, house, boat etc... well a friend of his little brother gets pissed at him one day and copies my friends password down one time while he was over visiting with my friends little brother. Next day my friend logs on to find out he has nothing except his account. Luckily he ended up finding out who it was and the kid gave everything back but still.
