What the hell!?

I don't know if it was just my town, but it seems that slowly, halloween spirit has been depleating.

Last year, about maybe 20 people in my high-school actually dressed up, this year, only about 7...(me included, I was a ninja =P )

Then, tonight, I went out trick-or-treating and having fun with my friends, and there weren't many decorations, nor houses that were passing out candy!

Not to mention, not many people were out, most stayed home...

It was sad...Halloween is the greatest Holiday, i mean, you go outside, dressed up as anything you can think of, and have fun hanging out with your friends...but, seeing people with no spirit for such a great holiday made upset...

Has anyone else witnessed this Global Halloween Depleation?

I most definatly have. We got 4 KIDS come to our door!! Thats bs. I couldnt go because i have three tests to study for but man oh man did i eat a bunch of candy. But yeah my neighborhood has no decorations whatsoever either. its messed up..

We didn't have a single kid come to our door, and we live in a house on a nice, tree-lined street. And we left our porch light on and had Halloween decorations on the yard.

I live in an apartment complex...With lots of kids...I had one kid at my door. Even when I still lived in nice suburban Connecticuet, no one came. If we got 4 groups it was a good year.

A few years back our my old home averaged 20-30 trick or treators a year, but the last few years there have been 0-2 at best. No one even decorates on the street anymore. :(

I stayed home and passed out candy this year. I was all excited because I have a really nice mask that little kids find particularly scary so I was hoping to get some interesting reactions. So I get out my candy bowl and wait... and wait... and wait... and wait... 2 trick or treaters who show no reaction at all... wait longer... 2 more... wait... finally the last group shows up and a lot of little kids freak out until i take the mask off and then the night was over. 3 trick or treaters all night... pathetic. >_<

I remember when I used to live in Southport as a kid, maaaaaan those were some good trick-or-treating fun. Probably the best trick or treating I have ever had.....that was about 7-8 years ago though....

I took my daughter trick-or treating- her first time out. 19 months old, and she loved it. We just went a little ways through the apartment complex we live in, hit 5-6 houses and went home. Even hitting so few places, she still nearly filled her bucket, heh. So that was nice.

BUT . . . looking around, comparing to when I was a kid, it was just sad. We only hit 5-6 places because they were the only ones giving out stuff. 5-6 places out of what had to be almost 100. We handed out candy ourselves, had a HUGE jack-o-lantern in front (seriously, this thing was like 40 pounds, bigger than my child, lol); got ONE group of kids all night.

The saddest thing I saw- one house was not only NOT handing out candy, but they had the 7 or 8 year old boy answering the door to turn trick or treaters away. How fucking sad is that? What kind of person do you have to be, to ruin a kid's Halloween like that?

I didn't get ANY trick-or-treaters this year :(

But I did get to go to a kickass costume party <3 I LOVE HALLOWEEN!

Kids are spoiled, so they just ask for candy and thier parents give it to them i think....

If you live in Calgary where I'm from. You design your costume to fit over a snow suit. Its gets fuckin cold here. Kids just arent as tough as we were when i went trick-or-treating. I woulda gone if the old batman suit wasnt incredibly small.

I agree with you on kids are spoiled(I'm 14, I know this)

However, how come people can't teach their kids that Halloween isn't just about candy?
All I wanted to do was dress up, and go hang with my friends...
The fact that you can scare the crap out of your friends, or someone you know for the shear joyment of the TRICK part ^^;

Christmas has gone down the gutter in what was meant for...now kids just think it is the Uber-spoiler Holiday..

You mean... It's more then just about candy...

Scaring people is fun. But it's even more funny when you scare the shit outa people when it's not halloween. Or go trick-or-treating during easter. Now thats Trick-or-treating!

Yeah kids are wusses in calgary....I think all the freakin kids went to sunridge mall this year. You put a dman snowsuit under your costume and head out! If the snow's to damn deep get your parents to carry you! I wouldn't go home until I had at least 1 1/2 pillowcases of candy....

Pansys

HEY. shut up. Lmao. We're moving to Marborough now... Sunridge is under-construction. Calgary yea. I bet 9/10 of the potential trick-or-treaters over 12 were getting high. LIttle kids are like mom!! The moms like shut up im high. Buncha druggies here.

yeah it is absurd what is happening to halloween. We had few houses in my city decorate, and to make matters worse, trick or treating was held between the hours of 4pm-7pm. How pathetic is that? in my day it was from like 6 to 9, when it was dark out and actually fun. Costumes are no fun in the daylight jackasses >< *punts his city*

Hehehe, you think that's bad ? Picture this:

"Operation Goblin"

Armed Guards are patroling Base Housing, trick or treating is allowed from 1800 to 1900 hours, only one Bag of Candy is authorized. and Children have to be under direct supervision of their Parents.

Have a Happy Halloween.
