Hoping someone here can help me out or shed some light on my current Halo3 problem.

For about the past week, I've been getting randomly booted/disconnected/IP blocked while in multiplayer games over XboxLive. It started out as only about once or twice a night, but now pretty much happens every time I try to play the game over live.

The game usually starts fine with no lag, then suddenly it goes to the blue player/team screen and my modem and router start flashing orange(green is normal). It then says "xx player has quit and I've won the game". Then boots me back to the lobby. In reality, its booted me out and the game I was in continues on without me(I know this base on playing with my brother and him telling me the game continued after I was booted).

After I'm booted to the lobby screen, then my router regains connection and I can start another game. Where the above happens all over again.

Anybody else have this issue? Is it my modem? Router? Connection? Is it a Halo3 issue? I don't have a problem with any other game over Live. I play FFXI on 360 and never get dc'd. This is really pissing me off, cause I lose exp on Halo every time I get booted.

I haven't tried a direct connect from my modem to 360 yet, but may try that tonight. Any info is appreciated. Thank you for reading this semi long post.

Is the NAT on your router open? Thats what it sounds like...

How would I got about checking that? I'm not too tech savvy when it comes to routers.

You can do it really easily from your xbox. Just go to the network options on the last blade and run a test. After the test is completed the last thing listed is your NAT. Open is the best. Moderate it medium. Strict is the worst, and it means you have to putz around with the ports on your router.

Yeah I found that. Its showed as open. I did a firmware update on my router and was able to play 2 games without getting DC'd. On my third game however, my router and modem started blinking orange again. :/ This is driving me nuts.

Well NAT open and you should have a great connection to live depending on your ISP. I would say its something to do with your ISP or router... I would only assume this because there is pretty much no way Halo or any game on live is going to shut your connection down... Shut your connection to live down, maybe... But internet connection and router actually shuting down, no.

Yeah that's what I'm starting to think. They have been doing some major construction on the streets in front of my house over the past month. I'm wondering if that has something to do with it.

Going to try to call my ISP today or tomorrow to try to figure this out. I just hate calling them cause they'll be like "Have you power cycled your modem?" :dur:

Any chance you use Optimum Online?

No, I'm stuck with the Empire that is Comcast :/ Going to call them tonight I think. The weird thing is, that I don't get DC'd from FFXI on my 360. I haven't really played any other FPS other then Halo3 on it recently though. So its hard to tell if its a Halo3 issue, or and issue on my end.

Wouldn't FFXI take just as much bandwidth as Halo3? Its almost like my modem gets overloaded and it blocks signal. Wondering if they have lowered my connection due to all the construction outside.. Going to have to call them I think. I've had faulty modems before, where the internet would work on my PC, but it wouldn't connect me to Live. So they came out and replaced the modem and everything was fine then.

Also, I did connection test on the 360 last night, and everything checked out ok.. Its really frustrating.

No matter what game you are playing it takes the same amount of banwith. Live takes a chunk so that anything on live can be played properly. The banwith is not adjusted per game, this is how the Live tech explained it to me when i had issues... a year and a half ago tho.

Hmm, well this issue is really strange then. Going to have to troubleshoot a bit more.
