Hi Quetzalcoatl! Just want to wish you all a safe and happy holiday!!!

In keeping with the cheerful holidays, I have a puzzle for you ^.^

Take a look at this picture:

And the story goes:
Once upon a time 4 men were apprehended for committing a terrible crime. The police officers locked them into two jail cells which are seperated by a brick wall. In jail cell #1, is one suspect, and in jail cell #2, are the three others. The officers tell them that the crime they committed is punishable by death and they are to be executed tomorrow morning. However, being that it's near Christmas, he gives them a second chance. He goes by and places a hat on top of each suspects' heads and says,

"I have placed a hat on each of your heads. There are exactly 2 black hats and 2 white hats. WITHOUT turning around, taking off your hat, moving, making a sound or talking, if any of you can guess what color hat is on top of your head, I will let all 4 of you free. If any of you guess the wrong, you will all be shot on the spot. If any of you break the aforementioned rules, you will all die as well."

Now, my question is, which suspect was able to tell the officer the color of the hat on his head and why?

The winner of the puzzle will receive a prize of 1 million gil. (from me of course, think of it as a christmas present ^^; )

please post on this thread and i'll come back to see who has the right answer.. and YES there is a right answer and YES i know what the answer is.
 
This is stupid, why bother doing it if you can't read my answer anyway. Tell Sabia to have fun with her new 1mil.

by the way.. the guys in the jail cell are all facing the same direction.. looks like this

and theres a brick wall seperating guy #1 from guy #2,3,4

guy#1 cant see guys 2,3,4, and vice versa.

Guy #3, #3 can see #2, and thus knows that one white hat is out of the race. #4 can see both in front of him, and is not shouting anything, because he doesn't know whether his hat is black or white.
#3 can conclude that his hat color is thus different from #2, and that only leaves #3 having a black hat.
 
Yeah, Sculli got it right alright. After I got it right. I guess he deserves it because he doesn't even play the game anymore, and he's gonna give the money to some person who's never even so much as heard of this thread yet.

How about this one, for no reward, just pure entertainment.
You are out hunting and not finding any prey. You decide to walk a grid to put some system into the hunt. You head 10 miles due South, then 10 miles due West, and then 10 miles due North. Suddenly you see ... a BEAR!
What color is it?

Because of this number 2 knows that he cannot be wearing the same colour hat as the person in front of him.
If he was then number 1 would see two black hats and would therefore know that his hat must be white.
He isn't wearing the same colour hat as the man in front.
The man in front is wearing a black hat.
number two can confidently shout out that the hat he is wearing is white.

i have one that i havent figured out yet:

You have a circle and 2 straight lines... now how do you draw the lines in the circle to make out 5 parts?

Eh ..., where are you from that you read right to left?

I don't really care about the cash, just honestly curious how someone who very likely grew up reading (and numbering) things from left to right would all of a sudden reverse that order.

Oh well, I lost 600,000g yesterday because my friend lied to me about gardening, and I lost 5000 experience today because of noobs doing ENMs with me. I guess missing out on 1,000,000g because some guy's diagram was messed up shouldn't do much else for me.
lol, taking WHM out of retirement? I'm thinking of permanently retiring.

How so?
You came up with the wrong answer, you said the hat is white. This is incorrect no matter how you number the dudes.

Sorry. I wrote it down on paper and I got the hats mixed up. GTFO already.
