Hey guys,

I need a bit of advice. I just finished installing FFxi on my office PC (took me a good part of the week), and after all the updates and all, i try to play, and it opens up, and before it goes to the fullscreen mode it'll jump back to pol and say "Terminated as an error occured in FINAL FANTASY XI. Faled to recognize Hardware TnL."

Please, does anyone have it in their heart to try to help me out? I'm not that great with computers, i know enough to get along, and i have no idea where to go from now.

Thanks a lot in advance, i've been watching the DL's come slowly for 4 days, please help me log! Cheers,

Dj

All it means is that your office PC's graphics chip doesnt support Texture and Lighting, or that its drivers arent updated enough, or that FFXI isnt configured to recognize your card at all. Theres a workaround for this if your chip is just straight up incompatible here: http://ffxi.archbell.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=2380

Sometimes it fixes it. Sometimes it doesnt.

I think it means your hardware needs to level up ^^;

Lol yeah, my hardware's TNL is, obviously, larger than what my patience can take, even WITH an empress band...

Nico, i love you. Thanks for the tip, i'm trying out the different settings and all, so far, no cigar, but i'll keep trying.
THANKS!

=) I still have hope.

There is something to fix this one sec get you it

yes lol i done it on my pc you get the software they have there then you hit the FFXI file in run 1 put windower into 2 and hit start (one good point of windower helps grapics like w/e i cant see a smns pet with i can)

Dejan if you figure out what the settings are that'll run it could you post them so I know what to do when I run into this problem? Thanks

Shady

<<laptop user with ati radeon 8500 series... I'm sure I'll be running into same problem if I can load it at all

Well, luck isn't on my side.
I've tried each and every version of the 3DAnalyzer and no dice.

I'll just have to smuggle in a new vid card and see if i can install it on my own.

Fuck.

Thanks again guys.

Cheers

You brazilians are always up to something shady, arent you. God speed, criminal.

I want to feel bad for you, I really do. However, you are installing it at work to play at work, so I think I speak for all of us workers who can't play while working, when I say that I pretty much hate you.

Take a laptop to work plug it into a network port play FFXI now play at work in spare time or if want to play at work and get paid be a RMT (dark side) or a GM (dark side)

Yeah, we're known for smuggling internal organs, true. People go to parties and all, someone'll slip em some drug, and next thing they know, they wake up in a bathtub full of ice, without a liver or what not.

Cheers

Ps: Still can't work FFxi... Fuk.

july 1 first need to get it sorted by fyi as satic so get it done dej :P

Don't worry, there is hope! I had the same problem and I have for you a solution. There is this program called 3D-Analyze that is amazing. It will fool your hardware into thinking it meets the required TnL.

1.) Download the newer version of 3d-analyze from the following link:

http://www.velocity.net/~culver_c/3da164.exe

2.) One you open it you should see a box with a lot of German in it.. click the button on the bottom right that says something like "intalleren" which put the files on the desktop for me.

3.) Create a new folder in your C: if you want so you can put all of the files into one folder.

4.) Launch the program, 3D-Analyze

5.) You will now notice on the left side " File selection" go down to the second "Select" where it says
ExE (select the application file) and press Select

6.) Open the Programs file where your PlayOnline folder is and open that, open up to the PlayOnline files to where you see the PlayOnline .exe file (The one with the symbol) and click open.

7.) Now press Select just above where you did for the last one, the one used for the DLL path.

8.) Now open up the file using this, first open the Playonline folder, then SquareEnix, then Final Fantasy XI, then find the file named FFXIMain.dll and click open.

9.) Next look at the top right side of the 3D-Analyze program where it says DirextX 8 Options and look just below for Hardware Limits (caps) and place a check mark next to emulate HW TnL caps

10.) Now click the "RUN" button located on the bottom left of the program window and the playonline viewer should open normally. Now the difference is when you enter the game you should not see the terminal error occur, and the game will run!

Alerith, i can't thank you enough for trying to help.

Indeed, that would be the solution, however, Nico posted a link when she first replyed, which gave me the step by step process of the 3d Analyze.

I tried that out, and i tried every version available of the 3D Analyze, as posted above, and still, no cigar...

So i'm totally bummed that the pc's we got for this new office suck ballz, and probably have no vid card...

Thanks for everyone's reply, it really means a lot that you all would want to help! Unfortunately, the problem, this time, comes from this end of the line!

I'll try to get a new vid card for my pc alone, hopefully.

Cheers,
Dj
