the ending will be that someone wrote the whole story and it never really happened and the scene fades to black when the writer writes "The End" and puts their pen down.

Before each Harry Potter book comes out, there are always people who will try to turn theories they've concocted into fact, or even those who will simply create rumors for the fun of it. Currently, there are a few about Book 7 and below you can find the ones which JKR has debunked.

Voldemort will cast nuclear bomb > hogwarts, but it will look like iraq did it, then he will start a chain of mutually assured destructionisms....
 
All i heard from JK's interview is one of the pupils becomes a teacher at the school, and harry fights voldamortdude again.
 
The ending will open way to a Hogwarts cartoon series that takes place some time after the book ends, bringing back minor characters in their own solo adventures, and refferences that will lead some people to believe there'll be an 8th book, causing flame wars between fanboys for years to come.
 
Hmm...this was on that muggle site

While Jo is listing the characters who she'd invite to dinner, she names the trio but then pauses. The crowd begins to shout out other characters, but Jo responds, "I'm the only one who knows who lives through the series," accidentally implying that she could only list characters who make it through the final book. Her final two choices (after realizing what she said) were Dumbledore and Hagrid.
