Harry Potter: The Order of the Pheonix

One and two didn't change much. Three and four changed quite a bit and I did bitch and moan about them. Five was by far the worst with changing shit. I really didn't want to go to the movies. The woman wanted to see it. I said fuck it and took her since she wanted to see it so badly.

well first of all, Movies 1 & 2 were the absolute worst movies of the series. poorly put together, crap acting (which i personally blame on the director), and they did change a few key points of those movies.

Second, you knew the 3rd and 4th movies changed, and they were very significant in their changes, so why would you expect anything more from the 5th movie? Yes they took out ALOT of sutff, but that book hasa slot of information and storyline. and As I said above for entertainment purposes and so as to not have to give every member of the audience a complimentary bed-pan for it being so damn long.

In all honesty it comes down to this: if you are so Die-hard about the storyline, don't see the movies. I understand having to take the woman to go see it, because I dragged my boyfriend with me yesterday. there are too many theories and avenues the books go down, directly and indirectly.. a lot of underlying story that isnt addressed in a direct manor.

the movies are and should be treated as sepereate entities from the books, JK Rowling writes the screenplays, and I think she knows her stories quite well.. she leaves out what she feels can be left out and changes what she needs to to make up for it.

I actually like the first 2 movies. The first 2 definately had the better actor for Dumbledore. Beleive me if I can help it I won't be going to see movie 6.

edit: I just checked. She writes the novels. Steve Kloves writes the screenplay.

Yes Dumbledore was a much better fit in the first two movies, unfortunate that he passed away:/ ... but chris Columbus ruined those movies. I think although movies 3-5 have strayed from the original story more, but they are infinetely better movies.

Don't get me wrong. I dislike the movies because I infact like the original story so to see it ruined just ruins the movie for me. If I had never read the books then I would probably love the movies. They are very well done.

I know Sirius dies in the movie (from a previous post) there is no way that J.K. Rowling would allow him to live, or not be mentioned, because it would fuck up the storyline so heniously they'd just have to stop and go kill themselves in a large mass suicide. Its Warner Bros., its probably in the contract.

They didn't have much of a choice about the 'First Dumbledore', Richard Harris. He died of bone cancer about 4 months after they stopped shooting. The 'Current Dumbledore', Michael Gambone, while his look is significantly different from that of the spot-fucking-on Richard Harris, is doing a great job in my opinion.

If you like the first two movies, I have to seriously doubt that you've even read the books, or even like good acting. Those two movies were so completely terrible, its laughable. The sets were very nice, as a visual introduction into the Wizarding World. Otherwise, they're complete wastes of time. I think they should remake them (they wont, but whatever). There was barely any REAL acting at all, Chris Columbus pretty much said 'This is what you're going to say; you're going to look like this when you say it; I'll have no complaining.'. Its a sore spot for me, so I apologize if I seem overly bitchy about it.

I said I wouldn't see the next movie a few times. You'll go see 'Half-blood Prince', just like the rest of us. I guarantee it.

I never went to see 3 and 4 in the theaters. I only went to see 5 because the woman made me. I really had no intention on seeing it.

Yeah you got me I never read the books. Nope not one of them. That is how come I explained in my spoilers about the differences between the two. Pure fucking genius calling me out on not reading something.

I understand that the original Dumbledore died.

man but i rly need to say... this movie was great i liked it alot.... not thats i was expecting more of it since i knew they were gonna butcher the book....I expected the dumbledore fight alot more intense and i didint like one thing... i dont recall well in the book but im sure that the Death Eaters and the Order people didint fly around in dust... that kinda was stupid lol

lol nego... not like its not gonna happen... knowing and seeing it you will get 2 different feelings i guess @ least for me... i always get spoiled about shit and never am let down

Man i so want book 7.... looks like harry will die... J.K. Rawlings said that one way to end the merchandise was to kill Harry..... this book is gonna be awsome... i hope is longer than any of the previous books- i need some long reading material lol ^^

They don't even let you know that Umbridge is the one who sent the dementors after Harry.
I understand the Ginny and Harry thing but Ginny was not acting interested at all in book 5. She was actually dating someone else.

Thats explained in book 6. Ginny stopped showing the signs outwardly hoping that eventually harry will come around. But in a movie sense, I guess its better to foreshadow that stuff =P

I am pretty sure she told Harry in book 5. She didn't play that much of a role in book 6. The Ginny thing didn't bother me too much it was just something I noticed.

You become a prefect in your 5th year so it was in book 5. It is during Dumbledores very long speech that he tells Harry why he didn't pick him. Also if you remember Percy was a prefect when the story opens. Percy was only at the school for Harry's first 3 years. Making him a fifth year in Harry's first year.

She can't really think that, look at Darth Vader...

I bet she starts writing some "prequel" novels so she can continue milking this series. She might have said she'd stop writing the Harry Potter series, but nothing has said she won't stop writing all together.

I'm not exactly a fan of the books. I've read them but didn't like them enough to be swept in Pottermania. However, I read somewhere (forget where, and I'm too lazy to find the article) that she may continue the series, but the fate of the series at this point is neutral as she hasn't given anyone a straight answer.

She has stated that there will be no prequel. However that could change. She could probably fill 2-3 books if not more just on the story that is Dumbledore.

Edit: I have book 7 on pre-order. I plan to read it all on the 21st.

While I was not aware that she had said that (Again, not a fan), she has said "Never say Never".

If she actually does as she says, and this is the final book, and there are no prequels or continuing series arc with the remaining/past characters, my hat will tip to her. Maybe it's because I'm not a fan that I don't understand this, but why are people so unwilling to let a series end?

Sorry for the derail.

Well there are just so many lose ends for one. I just can't fathom her tying all those loose ends up in a book shorter then Order of the Phoenix. Another thing is in this day in age; I for one would love for someone that has gotten it so many children have started reading again would continue to write the series that got them into reading.

I personally also very much enjoy the series. It isn't really something you can explain unless you are a fan of the series as to why we don't want it to end.
