Harry Potter!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, I saw it earlier today, it's a very good adaptation of the book. They sped through some stuff that wasn't all that important to the overall plot, but covered the important parts well. They cut out some explainations that I would have liked to actually see. If you didn't read the book, some things aren't going to make that much sense and there will be some loose ends at the end, but it's still a great movie.

yeah you guys, i think this was my least fav of the movies so far, though ron was hot...

those redhead boys..

They shouldnt have gotten rid of Bagman dude's character. he wouldve been more interesting than Crouch. Good movie nonetheless!

eh, coulda been much better, lacking though >< and i agree with Answa, WHERE ARE YOU PEEVES?!

eh, it was visually stimulating. and I will end up buying the DVD. But it still dissapoints me how much was done wrong. My main gripe with the movies is that they made Hermione to cute from the beggining. she wasn't that cute in her descriptions in the books >.<

I'm not complaining :)

i saw it at midnight on thursday. i loved the dragon scene. but i still think the movies lack fluidity. seems they just keep jumping from one important part to the next leaving those that havent read the books thinking "wait what just happened?"

I agree completely. I still enjoyed the movie, but it left me with alot of questions - and was a bit hard to follow at points. Like when they were showing the "trials" - what did that really have to do with anything? Seemed sort of like they threw that guy and his son in....and quite a few other points that I didn't think were terribly well thought out. Like if Harry saw Malvfoy's dad at the grave site - why did he not tell anyone?

I did however like the idea of the games - I wish they would have elaborated more on "games" scenes. And I liked seeing the characters changing. THe Weasleys rocked this time around ;) It was cute to see Ron get all jealous of Harry - and be hot for Hermine. I wish Snape and some of the others were in it more - but I guess they couldn't really go over the 2.5 hour mark. :)

Overall I liked it - and I haven't read the book - maybe doing so would explain some of the plot holes....

yes it would explain alot Jender. A lot of the parts I find lacking in the movies is when the students are actually in class in the books. and they leave a lot of the classes out in the movies.

that's another gripe I have with the movies. they leave the a lot of the classes out.

This movie went out very fast. hey didn't show much of the Quidditch World Cup, they've never shown the House Cup or the Quidditch Cup for that matter, Moody's eye was too fake, and he was too fat. I did like Voldemort's acting, though. Very good choice. Sirius only appeared once... no Headless thingy, whatever the name was. Fleur wasn't a bitch...

im dissapointed in #4, its to short for a book that big, they cut to much good stuff out, and they all look like pot heads ;), no damn veelas :'( WHERES MY VEEEELLLLAAAAAS!!!!!!!! and and.... well, its funny~!~

but others, great movie, *goes and downloads it* anyway... if u watch #1 to 4, youll see how different they look, its funny :) and i like well, ima keep that a secret ;)

and hermoine was hot in her dress at the Yule Ball, and i felt sorry for her that ron did that to her :'(

Here's the thing. The movie is almost 2.5 hours as is. The average moviegoer isn't going to want to invest 3+ hours watching a movie to appease to the hardcore book readers. I think they did a pretty good job in choosing what to cut and what to keep.

Cuts I liked:
-Quidditch. We've seen it enough and we didn't even know the people involved this time. It was only needed to introduce Krum which they did a good job with.
-Ludo Bagman. Unimportant.
-S.P.E.W. Probably one of my least favourite parts of the books, thank God it's not in the movies.

Cuts I didn't like:
-Rita Skeeter. She was the person you loved to hate. They nailed that really well in the 2-3 scenes she was in, but why just drop her midway through the movie? They didn't even mention the SPOILARS about her near the end of the book.
-Harry Stinks badges, etc. They do a horrible job with this in the movie. Everyone's wearing them for like 2 minutes then suddenly they are cheering him on like mad vs the dragon and it's all forgotten.

Other random comments:
-The characters are looking a little too old now, especially Ron. On the flipside, they are doing much better jobs acting now, especially Ron. He was really convincing when he was pissed at Harry.
-What's up with all of the OOC comedy bits from Snape and especially Filch?
-Too much foreshadowing in the movie.

The trial was badly shown in the movie. They just randomly brought it in. In the book it fit right in with everything that had been happening. You already knew about the son being evil, and it just further explained the situation. It also recognized the fact that Snape had one been evil.

I also didnt like how they cut it kinda short at the end. In the book harry names the people he saw and the ministry wouldn't believe him. It started the rift between Hogwarts and the ministry, which is the central theme to book 5, and it was completely ignored in the movie :|

Oh, and where were the damn Blast Ended Skrewts?!? EVer since I read about them, I wanted to see these huge mix of crabs and scorpions and whatever else but they went and cut them out of the movie -.-

I thought it was a pretty good movie. I haven't read any of the books so I don't really know what they cut out. My girlfriend is a very avid reader of the books so I suprised her with tickets on openning night at the local IMAX theatre. It was visually stunning on IMAX. I liked the story and it made sense to me. (Maybe that's because my gf filled in any gaps.) It was kind of predictable though. I won't say anything though since it might spoil it for someone. All in all though, I thought it was pretty good for not having read the books. I still can't get used to the new Dumbledore though...

One more thing ... it seems they took the LOTR route and started adding a lot more comedy relief as the series progressed. The first LOTR was all serious, but the 2nd was full of Gimli being stupid and other random comments. This 4th movie seemed to do the same thing, just trying to add comedy for those who aren't too big on the series.

i thought that was the best of the 4 movies. This one had something the others didn't. It was weird though! Good lord i did not want to see Hagrid hitting on the head mistress from where ever (the giant woman). It seemed more adult and had a lot of surprising sexual stuff in it. Ex. Harry and Mertil in the bath... good lord.

Going with the part about how the actors are aging, they should probably make the last 3 movies (7 total, that corrisponds with the books right?) all at once, (Like LoR) so that the aging won't effect the characters as bad. The ages they are now seem about right to where I 'think' the book series is. But like mentioned previously, Characters can be percieved younger on film. Most teens in film are much older in reality. Look at Melissa Joan Heart <i think is how her name is spelled) she was in her late 20's during "Sabrina the Teenage Witch". Then again, she always has looked young.

This was a huge disaster of a movie. They ruined one of my favorite books of the series.

'Should have gone direct to DVD...

I just got back from the midnight showing of Harry Potter & The Goblet of Fire. Frankly, it stunk. Granted the book is longer than JK's previous efforts, but what they left out in the movie is just plain sickening.

I'm at a loss for words as to how let down I feel. I was expecting something that paid tribute to the book like the previous 3 movies did. This one is a hack and slash attempt that drives home the point that some books should not be filmed. I can't believe JK even approved this script.

Spoilers ahead, so stop reading if you haven't seen it. The movie starts out with Harry being woken up at Ron's on the morning they are going to travel to the World Cup. He's just had the Voldemort dream, with a twist. Barty Crouch Jr is in it with Wormtail & Voldemort. Mind you the entire World Cup takes up about 2 mins of screen time, no Leprecauns or Veela. They've got Harry and gang in the cheap seats, not in the minstry box. No Winky, No Bagman. Nada, Zip. Two important characters are NOT in the movie!!!

The Death eaters show up but they're not bouncing muggles, they're torching all the camp sites. Mr. Weasley tells the kids to go to the port key, not the woods. Can't have woods because there is no Winky I guess.

From here on out you've got a bunch of crap, Nevel giving Harry the Gilly Weed, cause Dobby has also been left out. Dumbeledore acting like a raving lunatic, half ripping off Harry's head when his name pops out of the goblet. Last time I checked, the big D has always been cool and collected. Rita Skeeter does not get outted as an Animangus. The Maze sequence has been hacked, no Sphinx, blast ended skewerts, or boggarts. Just a bunch of running, high winds, an imperius Krum and some aggressive roots. Like I said, they murdered the book.

I do have to give hats off to Ralph Fiennes, he does play a most excellent Lord Voldemort. But with everything that was sacrificed from the movie in the name of keeping it short has severly damaged the movie story line. Most everything they cut out is important in the following book, The Order of the Phoenix.

I was hoping for something fantastic, even memorable. Book 4 is where the series really takes off. However the movie leaves a lot to be desired. This effort does not bode well for the remaining books. Warner Bros, needs to stop while they're ahead, because if they are going to release trash like this, then they are doing a gross diservice to JK and the rest of Potter-dom.'
