OMG! I worked so hard to get dark ore following a general recipie for it and checked other sites to see if they had any others and they all seemed simular. and I plant, feed, and harvest on darksday and what do I get?

some investment of 1 month and 3k..... But oh well time to try another recipie, I wish SE would tell us more about the mysteries of gardening...like come on! they never tell us anything.....
 
I wish they would tell us more period...I mean what the hell does summoning skill do?
 
You need to try more than one plant. My friend did like 8 plants and got 3 dark ores. He got a lot of persikos and some other item that i can't remember. The recipee doesn't always make the same item. I think that a recipee can yield several different results and that they are chosen randomly.
 
Gardening is definitively not an exact science ... :(
It's not very important when you try to grow fire crystals like me, but it can really suck when you try expensive recipes like elemental ores.

Too bad in-game gardening isn't like RL gardening, if that was the case I would be one of the premier gardeners in-game.

But.....it's not, not really even close to tell you the truth.

So I was a little disappointed to be honest I thought it woulda been similiar to RL gardening, way to go SE for managing to fuck that one up.

I don't MIND gardening. I mean, hell, if I need Millioncorn, I know the surefire recipe to get it. It's the expensive stuff that I have a hard time getting, and get upset when I miss out on it.

I know it's not an exact science, and it's just pretty much hit or miss, but...
I'll still be killing goobs for Tree cuttings, to grow into saplings, for the rest of FFXI eternity.

And yes, Anesly. Rock Salt hurts. How about getting 40 Windurstian Tea Leaves from a persective Wind Ore?
 
Use the more sure-fire recipes to fund your experiments.
And take good notes.

I farmed my tree cuttings, grew them into tree saplings, then planted them in hopes of a Fire Ore or two. What did I get about a month or so later? 11.5 stacks of Cinnamon Sticks. I've lost all faith in harvesting. :evil:
 
I planted four saplings on darksday. I fed each two dark crystals. I harvested today. I got persikos from two trees, rocksalt from the third, and a Dark Ore from the fourth. Why am I still annoyed? Jeuno undercutters have killed the sell price from 200,000 gil to 89,000 gil. Ah well. It's better than nothing.
