Wtf, another Witch Hat reward for following the witch with the costume... I'm going to try talking to the NPC again though next ingame day to see if there's any other rewards we can get.

Anyone else try this more and get anything new and exciting?

Nothing new as far as I can tell, the witch event is mainly the same, just they don't tell a story, and I did with witch/coven hat on and got papillions, I'd assume they would normally give the hats if not.

Just a chance for people to get the old items they missed from previous years it looks like, which sucks for people who enjoy doing these every year(like me), last new items I believe were from the easter event, the egg helm and the jeweled egg furnishing >>

They said there were new rewards in the announcement though.

No...

This year's festival has all the makings of a truly memorable celebration; everyone's favorite bomb decorations will adorn the streets of the three nations, specialty shops will deal in seasonal sundries, and both classic and all-new costumes will debut!

Costumes, the things you get when you trade sweets to costumed npcs, not items/rewards.

It's just not a Harvest Festival without treats—and treats are exactly what all costumed NPCs are after!
By trading certain treats to costumed NPCs, not only can a character gain the ability to dress up like a monster or beastman themselves, but can also receive some familiar Harvest Festival items!

Familiar items, not new

As in previous Harvest Festivals, one can't help but wonder what might happen if two particular characters in full costume were to get near some of these decorations while in the same party...

Probably exactly the same method for the pitchforks

*Don't forget to talk to any moogles that may be hovering about the streets. They might just have some hauntingly helpful hints!

Although I haven't seen any moogles around, minus the ones at the event stalls, so they may add something in the future, or there's something now, just nobody knows how to get. I hope that's the case, maybe these, since as far as I know I haven't seen them ingame yet, nor nobody knows how to get: http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/wiki/Redeyes

stock up on jackolanterns....I got 320 of them on 5 different mules...okay I dont.. but....O_O

Think I tossed witch hat last year because I got coven and witch was too boring and plain, so I ended up getting another this year. I won't bother with the second part then if it's just a coven hat as a reward.

SE is really getting lazy with their events...

Guess they are too busy on WoTG? >.>

Yeah, I was just thinking the same, too busy with WoTG to work hard on the events recently, and they probably figure too many people don't care about the events anyways.

They should just not even do events anymore. It's the same crap every time.

The fact that there is always new players who haven't gotten these items never crossed your mind?

Yeah what about us noobs? I've already got both Trick Staffs, an HQ pumpkin head, and I'm working on my coven hat! Awesome stuff! I just wish I had more gil so I could afford more candy so it could go a little faster >D

Still would like a Bastokan to help me get a pitchfork though. If you see me walking around handing out candy, give me a yell!

Does goblin chocolate work as candy to get the hat? Sorry - I haven't logged in yet since the event started.

Anything under sweets on the AH should work.

Heh, I love this ninja edit I just noticed at POL.com, from this

If the Harvest Festival is a bust, I hope they have something new for the Starlight Celebration.

Yeah, just tried this stuff again tonight with my gf since I kinda just got her started about a month ago in ffxi, and looks like you can get old items like pumpkin hat and pitchfork and stuff just by trading sweets to the npc monsters and teaming up in pairs for different costumes.

My gf got a pumpkin head hat from trading her first cookie to one of the trick npcs.
