I've not logged on for at least two weeks if memory serves. I just tried tonight and I'm told that the password that I've always used is either incorrect or my ID is incorrect. I know each by heart, so I'm wondering if some smuck hacked it. Has anyone seen me walking around or in /sea?

I appreciate any input

Edit:
To answer the inevitable: No, I've never shared my password and no, I don't dabble with third party software.

Nope - stupid i know. I'll be getting in contact with PoL tomorrow when they have "office hours". For now, I look to the community for info on whether or not "I" have been online.

it needs to be after a recent patch i believe. try to change your member password if you can

Changed my member password (Not PoL password, since I can't), and used the "check files" function. Files check out fine and I still can't log in. On a different note, I tried logging into the linkshell community and my info didn't work there either. I checked my credit card history and I'm still being charged for two content IDs (accurate) as of the first of October.

if it's any condolence

you arent online atm so it probrably has to do with your password

POL Maintenance notes from 10/9 said:
In an effort to improve the security of services under PlayOnline, the minimum number of characters that can be used as a PlayOnline password will change.

During the maintenance held between Oct. 3, 2007 and Oct. 5, 2007, the following requirements will be added for passwords on both the Friend List Plus and Linkshell Community sites:
- Passwords must be 8 characters or more.
- Passwords that are the same as your PlayOnline ID will not be accepted.
Please note that if your password does not meet these requirements, you will be unable to log in to either the Friend List Plus or Linkshell Community beta version sites.

For those unable to log in after these requirements are added, please log in to the PlayOnline Viewer in order to update your password. Please be aware that your new password must meet the above requirements. Changing your PlayOnline password can be performed through the "Service & Support" screen which can be accessed from the PlayOnline Menu. Choose "Membership," select "PlayOnline ID," and then select "Change Password."

In the near future, these password requirements will be added to the PlayOnline Viewer as well. Please be sure to update your PlayOnline password as soon as possible if it does not meet the above stated requirements.

Thank you for your cooperation.

You have not been hacked. This same thing happened to quite a few of us earlier in the week. POL said they e-mailed everyone who needed to change their password, yet none of us received any such mail. It generally took 1-3 hours with POL live chat assistance, found here in the chat support tab, to get it fixed.

Here's the original QCDN thread about the problem.

Oh sweet, thanks for the info. At least now I'll know how to get in once I'm in the mood to play again.

My pw is 5 characters long and still works :o

5 you say eh? ..... just wondering, whats your ID name.... Just wondering for personal reason really.... :3 5 is easy to brute force

I love my 14+ alphanumeric passwords for everything. Almost impossible to crack. Plus i know them by memory.

Yeah, my password is only 7 characters long. I believe it can be less as long as the format is correct. I still use my random generated one from PoL, so I would assume they would allow that as a password.

your computer is broadcasting an IP address. hope that helps/
