For the past few days, I've been listening to the good old FFXI OST via Youtube. The Ronfaure track in particular reminds me of how much I love this game.

For the past few days I've been losing sleep over searching my memories for FFXI experiences I've had in the past, and how it puts a smile on my sparkling teeth.

It's been over 2 years since I canceled my account, so out of curiosity, I logged into my PlayOnline viewer. And after checking my account status, I've come to see my characters are all listed in a que state. Sweet. It's been a long time but now I'm sure my data is still there because of that and other official FAQ's I've read.

At the same time I'm a workaholic and I work 7 days a week. Maybe it's time I give myself a day off every now and then. So long as it doesn't have a negative effect on the quality of my output.

At first I did plan on returning when I put the game down, so I kept all my gil and items. I did give a friend my Wyvern Helm +1 on lending terms. It's really up to him if he wants to return the helm to me, it's been so long.

So yeah. Tomorrow I'll update my account information and the game. Maybe pick up a copy of that last expansion pack. Dust off the crafting book, and set up my macros.

If you're losing sleep about a game, chances are it's not a bad thing you put it down in the first place.

It's good though, that you're doing something that brings you joy, so I suppose that cannot be all bad.

I have a Dragon Harness signed by you, from Magno.

You can buy it back for 1mil.

If you sell it in your Bazaar, you'll get more money for it cause of the brand :)

Magno is one of the greatest trusties around. He use to assist me on a regular basis in my quest to obtain that Kraken club I've always wanted. I'm guessing he quit the game. I wonder what he did with that HQ Wyvern Helm before he left ?

The game use to bring me joy Tristam. I liked it better when everything was super expensive and crafting never had such a terrible failure rate. I liked it when dangerous mobs would stay at the zone when it chased someone there, I use to laugh when someone would perform an MPK, even if I was the victim. I'll have to find out what I think of it now when I return.

I miss setting off to solo difficult NMs like Bune with my Ninja sub. Only problem is camping for hours will not be on my list of things to do, and I cannot dedicate my time to end game LS's.

All I want is to craft and sell. Some good texting and little bit of adventure. Not much time to play.

I have many fond memories of this game too, and I also returned after 2 years, it was short lived though because it was SO had to play catch up

Thats part of why I haven't returned. The game has changed so much that I'd be lost all over again. I played back when the game first came out for PC for about 2 years. Its been around 4 years now since I retired due to school so I know much has changed. Plus most of my LS has retired and the experience wouldn't be the same as it was during my first run. I do get urges every now and then to play again.

I say wait for FFXIV :P

You can just get Altana Viewer and view the dats if you have the game installed on PC. I find this better, due to the fact I have the whole selection in front of me and don't have to youtube>search.

I'd call losing sleep without even returning to the game a warning sign. Whether or not you were overly into the game when you played it before, it doesn't bode well for how you'd react to having the full game back. If your work is that important to you, which it sounds like it is, then you shouldn't really have an issue, but I'd strongly suggest waiting for IV like a few people have said already.

If you're gonna pick up something, get the recently-released Ultimate Collection. It comes with stuff that'd otherwise run you 30 bucks separately (50 if you're missing WotG).

I've been too busy to play, so i never reactivated yet, cause I know I'll have to update and such, and it'll take hours. The urge to play isn't so bad at this point, maybe cause I already have my heart set on returning. But what i wanted to say was...

I'm missing the Wing of the Goddess expansion. I'm hoping I can find a copy for the PS2. That way, I'll have the flexibility to play on the PS2 and the PC, although I'll be on the PC more.

Also, wasn't there a patch to play the PS2 FFXI on PS3 ? I won't hold my breath for that one. Still the PS2 version I think is the way to go in my case.

Yes, Magno left the game roughly 1 year ago now.

The Wyvern Helm +1 probably went to one of the many people gathered around him during the quitting phase. I was entrusted with this Dragon Harness with a promise to "never sell it". The idea was he was drop/clear his account of everything so he will never return.

I have his "RL" e-mail address if you want it for anything. I haven't tried to contact him but all I know is he said he's gone travelling/back to the forces.

As for the game, I too don't have time for many events. Typically all I do is solo EXP or NMs, farm and do Limbus (no more than 90mins) or Nyzul (no more than 30 usually). Everything else I do is on an ad-hoc basis. So don't worry too much about that.

You'll never know how you'll feel if you keep putting off coming back. If I were you I'd just take the plunge. Who knows, after 2 weeks you might just start to have the quit feeling again, then so be it. Otherwise, if you like it that much, I'm sure you're sensible enough to hold back and little and manage your time a little.

Update will only take 1 "night", just leave it running and go to bed, or when you go to work.

Only if you have one of the release PS3s that had backwards compatibility. You need to download the PS2 Hard Drive data (it's under Add-ons on PSN) in order to operate it.
