Having some Email Problems ; ;

as of late my email has suddenly stopped working and im not sure what to do. This is what happens whenever I run Outlook Express:

The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'mail.comcast.net', Server: 'mail.comcast.net', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10061, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E



I dont know how to fix this ; ;

Basically this means that your machine can not reach mail.comcast.net, no idea why though.

There is a hosts file somewhere on your machine, possibly a couple of places. Find it, open it, and add the following entry:

204.127.198.10 mail.comcast.net

That will point your machine in the right direction.
Running a recent virus scanner may not be a bad idea, things like that tend to not screw up on the own.

its not getting to the mail host just like sculli said. have you added any new hardware at all?

I did install a new version os Systamec Anti Virus. The 2006 edition. Think that made email not work?

lol, i would bet my hat on it, antivirus suites and firewall suites = 90% of household PC problems in my experience

You probably have to specifically allow your email program to access the Internet. Some setting in there somewhere, no idea where though.

if the problem was noticed just after something was done, good chance is that a setting was messed with or a setting needs to be changed in whatever was added

im having some majpr issues with the Internet Security I installed. Everytime I click on it it tells me to install it and i do. but when I click on it again, the same thing pops up. and I keep installing it without it actually working. I cant congfigure anything either. I have: Norten Internet Security 2006

Try browsing through the NIS troubleshooting page:

As a customer of Symantec products, they should be able to help solve the problem if it is NIS' fault of the e-mail error.
