Having trouble with my CoP disk.

Hey people. Well, the phone company turned off my phone, so I won't be able to head back into FFXI for another week or so......{fun} -.-;;.

Anyways though, finally got my CoP in the mail, put it in my PS2, and like 2 minutes later, stil doesn't load, then says "Cannot read disk". This is a new never been opened copy, and was wondering if anybody can help me out.

You might want to check the cd for damage. I've bought a brand new cd, and it had a big scratch on it making it almost unreadable. If that's the case, I'd call whoever sold it to you and try to get a replacement.

If it's not the CD, it might be your PS2. They seem to have a life span of about 3-4 years, then start having a ton of disk reading problems. You'd just have to go buy another PS2 if that's the case. That happened to me last year, I just sold my old PS2 and bought a new one. One way to test if it's your PS2, is to try several other games and see if it has disk read errors on those as well. If it's happening on perfectly good games, then it's the PS2.

If it's neither of those, then I don't know.

I had this disk read error a lot. could not read dvd's certaing games and couldn't read blue disc games. what I did since warranty was finished already i opened up the unit and took a can of air to it and cleaned it all out. Then I made sure to clean the lens. you can try a lens cleaner also but i couldn't find one to run in the ps2 at the time. I had to do it 3 times already. lol. Just make sure that this is not a real disk error you dun want to do all this if the disk is bad. Go to a friends house or go to a game store and ask them maybe they will help ya out and check to see if the disk works in theres.

I could not clean it the last time, which was 2 months ago, i think the lens had it so i went and bout the new slim ps2. So try what I did and if not you may have to try and find a new older ps2 model I haven't seen many in stores since the slim model came out.

I know it may sound goofy to even mention this...

But have you made sure you have the PS2 version of CoP and not the PC version?
