Haze Video

Still have not seen enough to put it above some of the other shooters i am looking foward to. But it does seem like it will be good.

Off the videos I've seen, I really like it, but the reason I rate it so high is because these guys did Timesplitters and they were the core from the Goldeneye team that left Rare.

If not for that fact I'd say the videos are good, but I'm more interested in Unreal Tournament 3. I love the Unreal Tournament series and Epic are a proven so far to be the best dev for next gen consoles.

Killzone and Halo interest me because they're going to be huge spectacles of console rivalry, bursting with technology, but neither dev has won me over based on last gen.

But Haze is free radical, and the only two FPS I played seriously last gen were Timesplitters and Socom. Next gen FPS are way more fun than last gen,(probably why there's so many of them), and I'm excited to see a next gen timesplitters and socom so much.

The story itself seems like it may have some more depth than, "destroy the space aliens to save humanity," and the cutscenes look incredible, so it may actually be an interesting storyline. Then you've got 4 player online co-op, 4 player splitscreen, tons of online battle modes and a big community guaranteed on launch thanks to holiday release and timed exclusiveness.

Seriously, my only worry is that this time in March when Killzone comes out I'll be so satisfied with UT3 and Haze that I won't see the point in buying another FPS.

Halo3
Crysis
Bioshock
UT3
Call of Duty 4

And thats just released in 07' FPS games that i am more excited about then Haze. 08' include Killzone2, Turok(may be 07'), Area 51(may be 07'), Postal 3, Left 4 Dead. Haze seems caught in the middle, may be better then Turok and Area51 FPS's. But not close to Halos or KZ2. And the story is not all that great lol. I find what you called "Destroy the aliens to save humanity" refering to halo i am sure, a far greater story. Hey all opinions till they come out. I am sure Haze is in your top 5 if you only have a PS3 tho lol.

Bioshock looks cool too but I haven't played the system shock games that got everyone so excited.

Crysis is the fucking man, but PC gaming is not really on my radar right now. Gears of War, Bioshock and Crysis however could all be mine if I upgrade my PC so it's tempting, but need something besides just shooters to make me take the plunge.

As for the 'destroy aliens to save humanity,' I'm talking about pretty much everything. There's either WW2 shooters or space alien shooters. You've got Resistance, Halo, Gears, Mass Effect - it's all human versus aliens.

Obviously none of that shit matters, it's all about the gameplay but maybe if Haze's story is good I won't use cutscenes as a bathroom break.

A lot of the stuff you said though coming in 08, like Turok, I don't really intend to buy at all. The only 08 games that interests me is Bioshock for PS3(if rumor is true but who knows), Killzone, Resistance 2(I bet this is a huge fucking seller), and that Lucasarts thing with the terrain deforming, I think that gameplay aspect would be awesome.

have you played Deus Ex, Fire? :P cause that's the same team that's making BioShock and that made System Shock I do believe.

Honestly fire i just like Turok because in past you could use a bow... Feels good lol.

Dunno, I played Turok 64 for about 5 minutes before throwing it aside. Goldeneye spoiled me on FPS and I couldn't play another until Timesplitters/Socom.

And no never played Deux Ex. There's very little I played between FFXI launch and about 7 months ago. A lot of important things I missed and subsequently are hard to play now with my graphics standards raised. Like I tried playing Residence Evil 4 PS2 version on my PS3 and it just wasn't doing it for me.

Strangely Killzone looks kinda good on a PS3.

Deus Ex came out like.. 2000? :P way before FFXI. Best FPS ever.

In your opinion lol. Was good tho.

I think that Haze has really great looks, but i'm not really feeling the story that was talked about in the video. Unless they can make that Haze serum thing work out better for me, this game may be put on the the low end of my top 10 games.

EDIT: Didn't see the posts about it being from the people who made golden eye and timesplitters. This game just moved in to my top 5.

pfft, not many FPS have really added anything new to a FPS or had a great story to go along that took a great deal of good time and was always compelling like Deus Ex :P I would like to ask what you think is a FPS that had a great story as well as added something new to FPS gameplay on par or better than that of Deus Ex.. hmm..

though yes, that is my opinion that it's the best, but it definitely brought something new and was a great game.

As for Haze, it looks like it'll be fun FPS, not sure how the story is exactly but it seems like it'll be enjoyable. I don't see it as anything entirely revolutionary though. Still looks to be fun, but then again, I need more info ~_~

Well to name the obvious, HL & HL2. Think we have all shared our opinions on this before tho. My fav FPS is more multiplayer oriented, eh Halo2 lol. The story is not like a deus but it revolutionized multiplayer on FPS and actually made em popular. Goldeneye was a legend starter sure, CS caught on sure. Halo made them mainstream. Started Dual wielding, 2 weapon limit at all times, Health regen, perfected the grav lift(that quake tried to do, just trying to eliminate ladders), nearly balanced all weapons for multiplayer(some issues, but thats as close as it comes), used matchmaking and was incredibly customizable. It also braught story driven FPS back to consoles. May not be the great story you love but w/e lol. Eh its opinion tho, i am very much more into multiplayer. Haze has 4 player co-op at least so i will try it no matter what. Hey ele was deus ex ever for a consol? I played Pc so i dunno.

I'm pretty sure you could dual wield in Goldeneye.

Deus Ex was also on PS2 :P Deus Ex: Invisible War was on X-Box and PS2 and PC and such. Didn't Doom or Quake have health regeneration? :P As for dual wield, I do believe that Marathon was the first FPS with it. That too was a Bungie game XD so the company was the first to introduce it. I will agree that Halo really made a lot mainstream for the console. As for multiplayer, Deus Ex had a fun multiplayer patch that it got shortly after its release, but ya, it wasn't as large as Halo.

Goldeneye was mainstream, moreso than Halo ever was. You could hang out with any guy in my town my age and they had goldeneye and could play it decently. If you're going off online multiplayer to judge popularity it isn't quite fair.

Bungies first game started dual wielding. I actually ment Halo perfected it sorry. I should have placed quotes. Halo was first game i saw were dev actualy took time to work with each dual wieldable weapon and balance them as sets. Fire how can you say goldeneye is more mainstream then halo. We cant deny how important Goldeneye was for FPS yes. But there is hardly any game period more mainstream then halo. Sales determines that. Halo> other FPS in that area. Look seriously Haze will be a good game. They are scared to compete with halo sales, rightfully so. But this game is no system seller, and doesnt look OMG incredible. I will buy it tho as i said earier but i am FPS freak.

Goldeneye - 8.09 million copies.
Halo 6.43 million copies.

Halo was in a generation that was hugely bigger than Goldeneye and had the full backing of Microsoft as it's #1 title.

To top it all off, Halo was on a console that was very unpopular. It's about as mainstream as Smash Bros. A staple of its platform but overall not able to topple goldeneye.

Wow o.o those are interesting figures.
