FINAL FANTASY XI Update (Jan. 13)

At the following time, emergency maintenance was performed on FINAL FANTASY XI.

It came to our attention that some players were using third-party software to repeatedly and automatically steal items from monsters in certain areas. Emergency maintenance was performed to address this issue.

To counter this exploit, it is no longer possible to obtain items via the job ability "Steal" from certain monsters in specific areas. This measure is only temporary, and the issue will be fully addressed in upcoming days.

We would like to take this time to remind our players that the use of any third-party equipment or software to change or modify the game in any way is strictly prohibited. If you come across such software, we ask that you please refrain from using it, no matter how minor it may appear to be.

We thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

10 bucks says they never change steal back in those zones.

I do believe that this was in oldton and newton molvalopolis. I was there when they took those 2 zones offline.

Does it apply to other zones?

Translation:

Some people were using and exploiting the system via, we assume, third party tools. In the effort of fairness and good business sense we at SE have decided to punish everyone punitively. From everyone here at SE we'd like to say "Don't you owe us some money?" Thank you for your cooperation and don't mind the rectal bleeding, it'll heal soon enough.

ha so what zone are effected? boy i love how se sees problems they will do something about steal program but wont do anything about the teleport to nm problems which are becoming more and more popular

If you read the thing in quotes its safe to assume the 2 movalpolos zones were affected.
