Hello, New to FF11

Hello everyone and thank you for having me. I'm a long time player of the final fantasy games and have been playing Daoc/WoW for years now and am leaving those for FF11. I don't know what sever I'm on yet because I'm getting a POL-0011 error code right now when I try to register play online but a csr said I just need to wait and keep retrying. Till then I thought I'd join a forum and introduce myself. I'll be playing a White Mage as my primary character. As a secondary character I'll have a dragoon. I hope to get to know all of you and keep you all healed up :-).
 
What an experience so far, POL error has not even logged in yet >.<.

Lol Someone will have to explain it to you so I will.

FFXI is nothing like WoW when it comes to job selection. You get 6 jobs at the start those being Warrior, Thief, Monk, White Mage, Black Mage, and Red Mage. In order to get a dragoon you must level one of the 6 jobs to 30 of course you have to level a sub-job as well so you do not look the fool at 30 with out a subjob.

WHM
Umm... NIN
Im sure others can we viable for the job.

Welcome to the game. :) One nice thing about FFXI is that you don't have to level different characters to level different jobs. You can level various jobs on one character. You'll figure out all the differences when you start the game I'm sure. Have fun and good luck!
 
Thank you very much for the comments. I actually wasn't very big into Wow, in fact I didn't like it at all but I did play Daoc(Dark Age of Camelot) for 5 years and was a officer for most of it in a large guild running raids and having lots of fun. It's just time for a change with the game losing more and more population bonus and I've done everything you can do in that game.

Due to the fact I've played all the FF games on playstation that have come out is why I'm coming to FF online. I already know the jobs and how things work so it should be easier for me to fit into a new game...I hope :-). In Daoc I played healing classes and hybrids so that is why I decided on the White Mage. In all honest I might not ever make it to the Dragoon with a level cap of 75 lol. Might just be one of those pema healers in the game.

I do hope to get on a sever with you all. I read that is was random where you were put :-(. I'd be on now but I'm still getting the Pol-0011 error :-(. Oh, thank you Kelyon for the offer for help. All I'll need is maybe to be shown the ropes but I do not need money or items. I like to earn my place when I join a game or a guild and like to show I'm not a taker but a giver. I guess that comes from being a support guy in most of my classes and a officer in a guild for so long on Daoc.

Anyways. going to watch a movie on my computer since Playonline still isn't working for me. CSR said that the servers are just really backed up and have been for the past two days so I'll just have to keep waiting. It's a bad first experience but I won't give up.
 
How long does this POL-0011 stuff last? I really wanna get on this game lol.
 
Wait am I missing something? When was he rude to me? lol and aldfjoaidfu I still can't log onto play online to join up because this dumb Pol error.

I think you're probably having problems because the new expansion just came out so everyone is clogging up the registration servers... :(
 
I just check all I have is Rise of Zilart I really behind so I'm going out tonight to get the other expansions. I hope to get on soon and heal some people.
 
Grrr, so many problems. Now that Join Play online is working the dang playonline registration code isn't working. Says it's not valid :(
 
Update: Talked with a CSR and the best advice I was given, which I'll to tomorrow, is to go get the starter pack from Game stop etc for $1.99 and use it's registration code. It's current up to the last expansion, excluding the newest one that just came out. However I won't be able to use them since I don't have them installed.

Yeah Romper laid it out for yeah. You start with those 6 jobs once you hit 18 you can get your subjob. A subjob is a support job that allows you to use the HP/MP/Stats/Whatever else the subjob has to offer. Your sub job is always 1/2 your level. So when you're level 10 it'll be level 5 when your 75 it'll be 37.

For Dragoon(DRG) you need to do a quest which unlocks the ability to play the job. If you happen to get up and running and level 30 before January 1st send me a /tell ingame and I'll hook yeah up with the job if your on Quetza.

If you like this server make a thread asking someone if they can get your a World Pass code which will put you on this server.

Yeah I got this error a lot when I tried to log on my unactivated char to take care of some updates. Took me about 2 hours of continually logging in to actually get passed it. POL can be a HUGE bitch a lot of the time best advice I can give you is to just keep at it and phone SE if you are really stuck.

P.S. Who would ever be DRG *cough*

My goal I've set long term is to be a 75 White Mage and a 37 Dragoon for my sub job. I think it would be really cool to have a strong support character with this healing wyvern.
 
Okay, I finally have everything working. I am requesting if anyone would be willing to get me a world pass so I can insure that I get on this sever. Thank you.
 
You can select Quetz... no need for world pass

Please, no. lol Number 1, Using Dragoon as a sub gets you no wyvern. Number 2, Mage with melee sub will get you no where fast. WHM is a decent sub to have for DRG, as a 75 DRG/WHM, I could solo a lot of things. The other way around is pretty crap. That is unless you want people to no invite you.
