Help! I can't remove items from Mog House

I have been struggling with this for some time and haven't found the answer yet. I have been trying to remove all the gardening equipment from my mog house and send it to a mule, but I can't select the Remove option from the menu. The only options I'm allowed are Layout and Rearrange. Remove is there but it is shaded and not selectable. Is there a certain time that it has to be done? What am I missing?

Side note: does anyone even bother with gardening? I occasionally get a good return but not sure it's worth it, especially when you take into account the price of porcelain pots.

Your mog house slots are probably full.
Transfer some stuff to your gobbie bag, and try again.

Even if it is already in the mog house? These are items that I have already layed out. I need an open slot for that? I thought I had already tried that but will give it a go and see if that works.

Empty your storage spaces because you can't remove all your furniture without first clearing off the shelves, if you catch my meaning.

My main interest was to grow Fire Crystals and the occasional Red/Green rocks. I always think I know what I'm doing but it really stinks when you end up with Blue Peas.
