I regret to say, something terrible has happened.

I went to install FFXI, and everything was okay, until I got to disc 4. I don't know why, but my disc 4 has two small cracks on the edge of the disc, and will not run.

Disc 4 contains the setup for the RoZ expansion pack, and I can't get the disc to run, at all.


So, I plead to you, my good friends of Quetzacoatl. If you know of a way that I can remedy this proble, please, let me know ASAP.

This really irritates me, because my FFXI discs I took especially good care of in the event I needed to format and reinstall, and yet the fourth disc is still messed up ><;;;;
 
call the tech support #

I had the same problem from a small scratch when I installed the game on a second computer. The tech person I talked to gave me an FTP site along with a temporary password that allowed me to download all of the content that is on the original game discs.

Get someone to make an ISO of it and send it to you, then load it on a virtual drive using a program(Daemon Tools for example)
 
Yeah, I was thinking of that Skaw. I actually have a window open to Mininova with the iso of the last disc. Unfortunately, noone is seeding.

I guess I'll try to contact tech support via Playonline.com and see what happens.

edit: Duh, tech support doesn't work on weekends. Well, unless I can find an ISO (or if someone has one they could direct me to) I'll have to try my luck with playonline tech support in two days. I have the feeling they're just going to say "You're fucked, by a new game"
 
I already tried to make someone an exact copy of one of the discs. This is actually what tech support suggests you do, but we could never get it to work. I ripped an image of the disc, but the person on the other end of the transfer said the resulting disc was no good. They may not have been familar with mounting though. Peoplw who aren't familiar with it usually just try to use it like a normal disc, and I forgot to ask if they mounted it.

If you could do that for me, that'd be great. I can easily get Daemon Tools to mount the disc and run it.

As far as sending me the disc, I'll leave that as a last resort if tech support doesn't help me and either noone is willing to send me the file, or I can't find the ISO online (which I haven't been able to find, all trackers with the file seem to be down).

Gameboy Advance and about 2,000 games oughtta do the trick.

A HUGE thank you to Eulore, who sent me what I needed (which took 4 freaking hours to download).

With this I SHOULD be able to play FFXI again, and it's all thanks to you man. Thanks a lot, and if there's anything I can do to help, let me know. I owe you big time.
 
Sorry about leaving you hanging. I don't even have my discs at this apartment :?
