So, I recently got myself a 360. Everything has seemed fine for the first month.

I've been playing pretty casually, never really going over 3hrs a day. Occasionally i've left my current game (Lost Odyssey) on pause for an hour or more.

I experienced 3 occasions where the game "froze" on me, but only for 1-3 seconds. I thought it wasn't a big deal, after all the game is 4 discs so I imagine at times the cutscenes might be a little too much for the system (at least that's the reason I came up with)

Just now though, I was about to fight a boss and the game froze. My controller was stuck in "rumble". I waited more than 2 minutes, thinking it might unfreeze. No such luck.

I turned off the game, and turned the system back on manually. I noticed that my controller though, (wireless) was blinking - the green ring.

I figured that i'm probably due for new batteries, so I replaced those. Same thing, blinking green ring on the controller. So I try another pair of batters.... same thing. So I grab my USB rechargeable battery pack I bought but never used, and plug it into the system and controller --- same result. Blinking green ring.

Can someone please tell me if I killed my controller? or what i'm doing wrong?

My xbox used to do this sometimes. The green lights mean its searching for a connection. Try pressing the button on the top of your controller and the coinciding button on your xbox.

Hope this works for you!!

On the controller, roughly near where the port for the recharge wire is, there's a small white button. Press it, and your X-box should recognize the controller. That button connects the controller to that particular X-box. Pressing that button would disconnect it from the X-box. Every once in a while, the controller may disconnect after a rough shutdown.

Also, you could probably solve the game freezing by clearing your 360's cache.

Follow the instructions here: http://news.teamxbox.com/xbox/11131/Xbox-360-Cache-Clear-Code-Revealed/

Thank you for the responses, the little white button did the trick! Much appreciated ^^

I'm glad it worked for you and you can get back to your gaming!!

It said it would clear software updates for your xbox by clearing your cache, but what else is it going to clear?? I don't understand the need for clearing cache because there is no browser function on the 360. So what other information will it clear that may be useful to keep?

Depending on the game you're playing, sometimes the game will load information onto the hard drive to appease itself from load times. I know for a fact that Elder Scrolls: Oblivion does this. The game stashes the information on your HDD so when you zone in and out of a place it doesn't have to reload the whole world every time you leave a dungeon or shop.

Now imagine if it did that for every game. Tubes be gettin' clogged.

After you clear the cache its possible that some things will actually load -slower- at first but that's just because its re-caching itself.
