I woke up this moring like normal, hoped on To ffxi via windower and started my normal E-mail scannin toss crap out and then on my left I see a MNS ad or w/e so I click this and I start to read on whats going down in NO down south. I dunoo I might be a puss or whatever but It brought a tear to my eye and a anger in my heart. no body not even are own goverment is helpin these poor folks. they have to steal in order to live and I am lucky enough to be sitttin on my PC and play a stupid game, I just sent red cross $100 but thats nothin I feel bad that I can't do more and this is why I brought this here, if anyone has a few bucks lyin around could like donate it PLZ? Red cross is a good place to send it, them folks care alot please go here and rember alot a ppl are donatin so it will take time to load.

that is not entirely true, Dark. the government is helping. ALOT of people and organazations are helping. i live about 100 miles west from NO. towns 30 min from here are destroyed. i still have friends missing. i could type all day about who is doing what to help. the roads are still flooded. as of yesterday, the water was still rising in some areas. they cant just drive in there and say here....lets go somewhere else. i have tried to go help people. roads are flooded, powerlines are down everywhere, homes are on fire, bridges are destroyed. they are evacuating hundreds of people as we speak. if u want to vent ur anger, vent it at the people who are shooting cops, rescue crews, military personel and helicopters trying to fly in to get the sick and elderly, people who are hijacking hospital supply trucks that are for 300 workers and 175 patients and hijacking nursing home buses full of the elderly, people who are looting and burning building, hindering rescue efforts even further. know that there are THOUSANDS of people who are helping. know that OUR government is doing everything they can to get those people out and safe. i talked to someone people who made it out of that area. i dont know what was worse about there stories.........dodging all the dead bodies or avoiding being robbed and shot by people with guns. but they were helped. they wouldnt be here if they werent.

Your not a puss. Your just someone who as the ability to show compassion for others. That is not a bad trait.

I would donate, but charity starts in La Casa.

they are not really helpin much in the NO part of it, New orleans or well from what I can read and understand. but ya I do see that in missi. ppl are helpin out alot but don't just let the ppl in NO go without notice.

you must be watching the wrong channel then Dark, there are more agencys helping out in NO than there are in MS, they can't do more than they are trying to do now.

Well up here in Canada the news is agreeing more with Darklion. People are dying on the streets of New Orleans (and not from drunk fights or gang wars for a change). When you think about the billions of dollars the US donated to South East Asia after the Tsunami, its a shame to see their own country in ruin and the government doing so little about it.

From what I've noticed, private industries have been helping out more than the government. For example, the Astrodome in Houston has cleared its event schedule and opened its doors to hurricane victims until December. Did the owners of the stadium have to? No. But did they out of the kindness of their hearts? Yes. I haven't seen such friendlyness from the Bush Admin. What a surprise...

Oh...

Honestly guys, what are you expecting? You can't rush too much aid to a place 5-10 feet under sea level, thats filled with water or it just causes more problems. Help is being sent there, but idiots are making it even more difficult than it is by attacking the relief workers and National Guard that has been sent there.

Sorry that moving trucks of people and supplies through 3 feet of water is so difficult, why not blame physics?

Theres a big difference between stealing to live and looting as well. Most people are looting, taking luxury items that aren't necessary, where as very few people are actually looking for groceries to feed and take care of their family.

Cause hey, when your house is destroyed and your children are hungry, nothing says loving like a lifted DVD player. :?
Morons.

my all time favorite quote i saw from the news on this hurricane came from a looter...a reporter asked a man why hes looting "dont you know its wrong to loot" the man replies with, "well if it was wrong, the police would be here stopping us"
people gotta do what they need to survive, but geez, that guy needs to go back to school and get off the dope

Don't know if this has been said already, but we'd have ALOT more aid and help down there if Bush would just pull us out of Iraq.

We're trying to make them a democracy and thats really none of our damn business, not to mention that it's costing like a million dollars a day just to keep our people there.

Troops won't be fully pulled out for about a decade, I'd say. We want to prevent what we got rid of from happening again.

And really, do you need the entire military to clean up a hurricanes mess? Seriously...

You've got to hand it to Micheal Moore. It takes a special kind of asshole to built a career on capitalizing on the suffering of others, but he's pulled it off. Colombine, September 11th, and now this. They should really honor him by naming a parasite in his name.

And as for the whole "Bush doesn't give a damn" thing. How come no one asks why the Luisiana government did nothing to PREPARE for this, knowing that the city is below sea-level and hurricanes are a common occurance.

You would think that they would have seen this coming, but expecting the federal government to pull an emergency evacuation of thousands out of its ass is just easier.

i will excuse your ignorance because you do not have to deal with hurricane season every year and can not understand how powerful a cat 5 hurricane really is or just how seriously new orleans and every other area on the gulf coast takes hurricane season. when they called for a mandatory evacuation, they knew this could happen. its not their fault that people did not heed their warning. the death toll would have been ALOT higher if they had not issued the evacuation.

just as california keeps building on fault lines, new orleans will always be in its bowl shaped hole constantly surround by water and plagued with flooding problems. you cant exactly fill the bowl up with dirt and build
on top of it. and dont be suprised when you see new orleans living it up on tv for fat tuesday in 5-6 months either.

and its Louisiana.

Exactly Sixx. The problem is not the government, but the idiots who insisted on not evacuating, and still insist on staying there in the cities current state. No sense in forcing someone to leave? What are you going to do when you do get them out? Lock 'em up so they can't go back?

Ignorant? I fail to see how I am ignorant and you aren't when we are arguing the same point.

Maybe I was a little harsh with my words before, but Micheal Moore just infuriates me. Now, no where did I say they should pave New Orleans into a parking lot then start over. But maybe if they could have put some bottled water and non-perishible food aside in the event the city was flooded, they wouldn't need to sit and wait for the government to organize and carry out the provisions supplying.

You're right, they did issue the evacuation when they realized just what they were deailing with. And it is mostly those people who refused to leave that are in trouble now, along with those who couldn't leave for one reason or another. But expecting the president to just whip up evacuations and supplies with a snap of his fingers is just foolishness.

Oh, and about me not understanding what a hurricane can do. My girlfriend lives in Gulfport. Last year when Ivan came ashore I stayed up until 4am talking to her as she told me how roofs were being ripped off buildings and signs were torn up all around her house. And after Katrina came, I didn't know whether she was alive or dead until I got a call at 2am this past Saturday from a friend of ours. So please don't presume to know anything about what I know from just 3 paragraphs.

You do realize that provisions were stationed 30 miles away and didn't get there for 3 days, right? You should also note the evacuation order came well before the storm made landfall as they had a 5 day warning it was on it's way. Aside from that planning for a natural disaster and making provisions is just as much in the homeland security's hands as the local government (homeland security presides over FEMA ... er well it was supposed to post 9/11, but they really botched this one.) Do some homework before giving your critique.

You said 4 days in another thread. I have also not been able to find info on those supplies anywhere and you have yet to post any articles describing it. Also to claim FEMA dropped the ball is silly. August 28th:
State and Federal Preparedness for Hurricane Katrina
Federal Actions:

The FEMA National Response Coordination Center (NRCC) Red Team is activated at Level I (Full Activation).
FEMA headquarters is conducting daily video-teleconferences at noon EDT with FEMA Region IV, the National Hurricane Center and the potentially affected States.
The FEMA ERT-N (Blue) team was activated and deployed to Baton Rouge, LA at noon August 27.
FEMA Region IV: The RRCC in Atlanta activated at Level I (full activation).
FEMA Region VI: The RRCC in Denton, TX activated at Level I (full activation).

State Actions:

Alabama EOC is activating, with full operations on 8/27.
Florida EOC is at Level 1 (full activation).
Georgia EOC is at Level 1 operations.
Mississippi EOC activated, State of Emergency has been declared.
Louisiana EOC is fully activated, with mandatory evacuation orders issued.
You can read more on it here although you (Mokk) probably won't since you dislike my links. FEMA activity the day of Katrina.

Actually i said that help didn't arrive for most until 4 days later in the other thread, i'd add a link, but i'm lazy ;)

Copy/paste all you like, after 9/11 FEMA was made a branch of the homeland security agency and has since been mostly absorbed by said agency, please read more on it at the link provided as i didn't feel like being lazy for this one. But knowing you, Rones, i doubt you'll bother as you don't like my style ;)

As far as articles on the supplies go search it up yourself if you don't buy it, i have a child to take care of so i watch the news. I'm sure fox, msnbc, and cnbc will have something listed.

Did you take classes to learn to act like a premadonna or is it an innate talent?

P.S.
It's not that i dislike your links i just find it incredible someone of your obvious intelligence can't come to your own conclusions without having some source feed it to you. If i'm mistaken i do appologize but your posting style comes off that way and it bothers me so i figured snide remarks would be the way to go, why not fight fire with fire? :D

I'm sorry I do not pretend to be a know it all who doesn't need support for his arugments. I use links as proof/evidence of my argument. I have my view, I find supporting facts, I link it. How am I not coming to my own conclusion?

I already searched there and tried google. I was unable to find it which is why I said that in my previous post. If you are going to cite something, you should provide the source. Thought they taught that in middle school.

From personal experience, FEMA is working fine. I have family there who are receiving reimbursement from FEMA on items used to clean up and rebuild already. $500 towards a gas generator for starters.

Attack the idea, not the person. When you must stoop to personal insults you admit defeat.

unfortunately i can't quote today's interview with shepherd smith on fox news nor can i quote any broadcast i watched on the news; have the vid card just not the cables.

Moving on....

While i am glad to hear it, your personal experience and/or opinions do not reflect that of the governing agency on numerous public forums as of today.
