i just installed FFXI on a family members comp which i know the specs are enough to run FFXI just don't know the specifics can someone please help

Hardware TnL?

Needs to level?

Have you tried kicking your computer?

Look at my post on the windower forums about how to fix this.

It works for that one thing (Hardware Transform & Lighting), I promise. It won't fix other issues (such as alpha textures for text, performance, etc. which are all hardware-related). Keep in mind that most onboard video cards simply are too simple for FFXI.

I don't know if you're looking to use Windower as well, but it works just as fine without windower.

The Video Card is severely outdated. Or it doesn't have a card and uses onboard video. "Family Computer" means Compaq/Gateway to me, if so, then it's the latter.

Also, if it is, you're 99% boned as they use non-standard parts and the motherboards will either lack an AGP slot, and contain standard PCI and not PCI Express, so you can't upgrade and would have to use work arounds, which are pretty unstable.

They make PCI Vid cards. They suck though.

I don't remember the last time I've seen a normal PCI video card anywhere, though.

Normal PCI video cards can be found at Best Buy for 150-200$
I just shoved one in a "Family Computer" that my friend needed updated

If the people who were asking why prebuilt computers are so bad are reading, your answer is in this thread... sucks to hear that though... ; ; Had to build an entire new computer for a friend once because of this same issue...

Well problem fixed just took one trip to walmart and bought a cheap ass vid card for like 60 bucks and everything was fine. considering the graphics don't look any better on the comp sucks ass.

Yeah, like I said in Demon's thread about his family computer, if he got one for his self and doesn't know how to build them, get a Dell from thier online site.

Custom Prebuilt, you choose whats used. It saves a lot of headaches. Plus they usually have differently deals weekly.

I've never seen a Dell that never had anything wrong with it. Even brand new ones. The ONLY company I'd go through to get a computer that I didn't build myself is Sony. I worked as a computer tech for a good while and I had only seen one Vaio come in. Come to think of it I've only seen one Alienware as well. Too bad they are overhyped and horribly overpriced.

Not as much as Alienware, but Vaio is also unreasonably priced.
