Everytime I try to run POL, I get this...

Error code = 20008001
DirectX 8.1 or later not installed. Please install from PlayOnline disc.

I have not touched anything on my computer, unistalled anything or even downloaded anything...I also installed DirectX 9.0 last week. -.-; Anyone know what to do?~

All I can tell you is that I am using DirectX 9.0c and I am not having an issue. I would try reinstalling directx (perhaps even your old version of it) and if that doesn't work perhaps then reinstall ff incase a file is missing or corrupted...

First try reinstalling direct x like kurgon said. Second, before reinstalling all of ffxi, try using pol's file file checker at the opening screen before loggin in if you can get that far. I imagine simply reinstalling direct x would solve it though. Try to get away with just reinstalling pol if all else fails, save you 4-5 hours.
