My reaction: Holy shi--, awesome episode. Did anyone notice the parrallels between season 1 and season 2? First, Mohinder and Bennet were sitting in the car in alternate positions this time, like they were in the first episode. Second, Claire says: "I'm just a cheerleader" to West which is exactly what she said to Peter when he saved her. And then there's Bennet's and Claire's awesome outro's with the "Holy sh- TO BE CONTINUED" thing.
My thoughts: I don't believe this 'Veronica Pratt' is going to be in this season. Much like Matt's father in the first season, they're setting up her arc. She was probably meant to be in the spring episodes before the strike. I think we'll find out what the older generation did to Adam and what terrible secret they had that eventually killed them by the season finale. Adam will most likely pull a speech out of his ass to convince Peter to release the Shanti virus.
Yes, I think Adam is the willing destroyer of mankind. When he cannot die, he can just re-boot the entire human race with any 'heroes' that survive the first outbreak, mainly: Peter & Claire. Then we'd see the genetic evolution of mankind and the complete destruction of the previous generation of 'imperfect' sapiens, think Magneto.
Hopefully we'll get some cool scenes. The preview for next week saw Hiro and Peter possibly fighting. I hope they wrap up the dangling storylines pretty tightly, or at least clean house with all of these characters. Personally, the Bennet, Patrelli, Parkman, Nakamura, and Gray storylines are the only ones we really should be focusing on. The characters from those five families (and that includes Molly and Mohinder, because Mohinder and Matt are totally gay for each other) are the most interesting. The Sander's family and the Hawkin's family are pretty useless and only serve as filler. Same with Maya and Alejandro, they're just not as in depth as the other families. I fell in love with the characters of the first season. These new ones are just not working for me.
Well, here's to hoping Slyar kills off a shit ton of people in two hours. *raises glass*
