"He's here to offer 'assistance healing.'"

I already have 1 job at 75 and one at 70, and I still wouldn't like to get PL'd or even join a static for that matter.

Even at 50+ you can learn things about your job (well, maybe not learn, but to do smething more effective) even if you don't THINK about it.

Besides, I love meeting new people, which is one of the reasons I don't want a static.

Powerleveling do ruin the game for people. Not maybe for the ones getting PL'd, but for people playing with the powerlevled later on. If a WHM PL a tank in the party, he will have a hard time hlding hate later.

Rangers and BLMes won't know when to stop nuking

WHM'es won't know how to effectively heal and how to conserve MP without getting anyone killed

the only jobs I can't find a bad reason to get PL'd for are most melee jobs, since they rarely have to worry about hate, or don't miss out on anything important by letting the high-level tank...

heck i didnt learn Hastega overrides slow til lvl 56

I do not think that PLing causes bad players...but Uzor is correct about the mass PLing in dunes. i was in dunes for probably about 30 hours in total xping...i would say i had a PL for at least 20 of those hours. i confess i did try to get a PL whenever possible...but that is because noobs suck. I have found that PLing has actually improved my job as i have gotten skill ups far easier due to fighting higher level mobs and having the common sense to ask someone better at the job than I if i was doing anything wrong.

PLing has become a scapegoat...it is not the root of all evil and is not the source of PLD and NIN who can't tank at lvl 60+ (although when i do find the source i am going to nuke it....).

The only things i think are bad about PLing are A) it will lower tanks parrying skills etc. B) idiots who bother people constantly for PLs and cannot make a half decent party without a PL. apart from that i think PLing is a good thing as it lets players skip the crappy noobie parties as quick as possible.

Yeah...might seem a little out of place...as i kinda didn't realise that there was a page 6

And btw...there is a big difference between not knowing haste overides slow and not knowing how to tank or something. (btw there is erase only slow...i think it is off spiders only though.)

To me, powerlevelling is the same as taking high level, overkill help on missions/quests/events. It helps people who don't want to invest as much time and effort into a goal get their reward faster and easier. It's not something that should be encouraged, but it's too commonplace to bother fighting against. Most people in XI, I would imagine, aren't as interested in earning their way to the top (as the game's first players would've had to do), as they are in just getting to the top.

Unless the top is level 30, powerleveling isn't going to do much in speeding them to the top. They're still going to have to earn their levels later on.

I thought there was a spell called "Slowna" wtich I got confused with Stona. I was still kinda new though, like LV39SAM. I got confused also because Haste does not override spiders slow. It can only be erased.

You should of heard me screaming like a Jackass at the whm, "Slowna me!!! Quick, im slow!!!"

 I'm such a retard.

I refuse the so called "PL" that people bring to parties all the time. I'm not a noob, and I don't make noob parties that need a crutch to level quickly. If a person in my party says, "lets get a PL"...then I know that person is just a noob who can't cut it on their own.

And, its not really "power leveling" like back in the days of say Diablo 2 where you really did level quick with higher level helping. Its assistance healing...and its for noobs.

Unless the top is level 30, powerleveling isn't going to do much in speeding them to the top. They're still going to have to earn their levels later on.

Since this is a thread about powerlevelling in the 50's, it seems the amount of levels a person has to "earn" has shrunken quite a bit. I've never been in a powerlevelled party before, much less one at a high level, so I don't know how much a powerleveller really adds, but it must add enough to warrant this many pages of debate. If the powerleveller wasn't making much of an impact, the original poster would have nothing to complain about.

I dont think he was complaining about the powerleveler making an impact...it was the fact that that "impact" was stopping a party with a perfectly good setup from dying...at lvl 55 with a good party set up there is NO WAY IN HELL you should need a PLer to keep your party alive...i think thats why this thread was made...and it just kinda went off topic about how PLing sucks really...Thats my take on the matter anyway...i'm sure there are plenty of people to disagree with me as always.

Maybe you should stop crying...

 I personally think the way you went about it was rude. Most people that PL are just being friendly or they ar RL or LS buddies with someone in your prty. And maybe if you wouldn't have fraked out about it you're prty would not have died because the PL would have assisted you more. You must really be full of yourself if you think you will never need high level help at some point in the game. [/quote]

Lilsmooth.... I think you are trying to get the quote tags to work but missing something.

Its like this

Code:
[quote="insertnamehere"]  Quote goes here  [/quote]

Lack of an edit button is annoying I know...just trying to help.

There is no need to ever be power leveled, especially once you've reached the levels where you have refresh. It doesn't matter if they're trying to help or not, they're essentially playing the game for you if you are the whm in the group, and what fun is that?

You really don't need high level help in the game. If you have friends going through the same stages of the game, you can do them together (genkai, af quests, etc) wthout having someone 20 levels higher than you do all the work... or hold your hand and do everything for you.

I think the next time I get asked to PL I'm going to agree. I won't forget to cast Shock Spikes first.

I personally can appreciate a PL when, and ONLY when i'm not the whm. When I'm the whm it makes me feel useless and as though I'm leeching free exp. I'm not that kind of player. Not to mention there's always a party somewhere that needs a whm. I think it should really be up to the Whm of the group whether to use the PLer or not.
