Hi.

asdflkj yeah, that's the worst part about giving blood. The needle/bag is nothing, the finger-stick-you-to-make-sure-you're-not-sick thing makes me go x_o every time.

You should have seen the finger-prick 'devices' they had in the 80's when I was a kid...

Back in the day... when I was your age...

No, I have high blood potassium, that's as bad as it gets for my blood lol. Makes the bugs love to bite me :(

Osse here.

Do you mean the "mouse trap" type finger sticks? The one with the spring-loaded swinging arm that kind of looks like a catapult with a small blade on the end? I had that used on me a few times as a kid, and they definitely suck. Those belong in the Torture Museum. At least they now have smaller ones for the fingers, and the newer ones for the arm.

Progress is occurring, although slowly. Inhaled insulin was on the market for a short time, then recalled due to inconsistent absorption from person to person. (Not knowing how much insulin you'll actually get is not good.) After the hundreds of millions they spent bringing that to market, I'm sure they'll fix the problems with delivery and get it to market again. Also, they've been working on a no-stick glucose monitoring system for years. It will theoretically be able to get a reading just by pressing a sensor to your arm. It could even be used for continuous, real-time monitoring of blood glucose levels. I'm just not sure if any progress has been made on the device.

Ok, I actually logged into my own account this time.

Depending on how high the Potassium gets, that's not exactly a small problem. High enough and it can cause dangerous heart arrhythmias. 6.0 (don't exactly remember the units, but I think it's mEq/deciliters) or higher and I'd be very worried. Give 1 injectable Ca and 50 mEq of bicarb and start looking for the reason it's so high.

I don't mean to worry you. If your's was that bad it would have been a problem long ago I'm sure. I just felt the need to chime in.

The spring loaded mousetrap is exactly what I was talking about...I couldn't think of how to describe it, that says it perfectly.

The no-stick glucose monitoring technology has been available since I was in high school...my diabetes specialist then said it'd be out within a year. Unfortunately the big business is in the test strips, so having a machine where you don't need to pay for the strips daily has been held back to my understanding

rofl at rappa's e-peen. It had shrinkage because of the moogle, lol

Don't worry, I keep it under check. ;)

I haven't rated anyone up in a while. I don't like anyone other than the FN group and a few others so it's hard to get enough ppl rated to get the next batch on you people. I need to make a list or something of people worth rating up.
