Hironobu Sakaguchi joins Microsoft.

http://www.gamasutra.com/php-bin/news_index.php?story=5011

Even more stuff that the GameSpot article didn't have. That article says that Sakaguchi would like to get Uematsu, as well as Amano for the games. Also, that article states that they are also making a DS game, so that doesn't mean that all of their games will be for Xbox 2 (NextBox, Xbox 360, or whatever stupid name they're trying for the new one). It's only two that have been Xbox exclusive so far.

I was wrong with the first post. Nobuo Uematsu did indeed start his own company as well (and I posted it here, and forgot :? ). It's independent, so I'm hoping he'll still do the Final Fantasy games, even though he's not part of SE anymore. I don't want another FFX-2 type soundtrack to happen again (or game for that matter).

you'll note i said MOST. the people i'm refering to are about 90% of the X-Brick owning population.

just because anyone owns x-box dont mean they wont understand ff :?

its not because you own one, but the major draw of the system isnt the complex nature of its games. (most) people buy an X-Box to play against thier friends online to prove who is better. They wont see the merit in a Final Fantasy game, because they A) cant kill thier friends, and B) there is no *easy* method of getting ahead. Those people dont want to have to spend hours lvling up just to advance the plot slightly. They dont want to spend hours and hours on a single side quest just to get one single item (ex: Chocobo Breeding in FF VII)

Each system has its market; Game Cube is geared more towards family gameing, and younger gamers, PS2 is more towards mature players, who like to think about thier games, rather than just play them, and forget them. X-Box is more for the instant reward players, and less intelectual gameing. Yes there are some games on each system that cater to difrent groups, like Twin Snakes on GC, or Crash Bandicoot on PS2, but those are the major draws of each system.

long story short, the majority of the people who buy an X-Box arent people who would get huge enjoyment out of a FF style game.

i would also like to note that i'm not bashing other consoles in favor of the PS2. each system has its own merits, and its own audience. the PS2 just has more of the types of games that i enjoy, so its the system that i own. that doesnt make it better than others, but its the system that i will get the most enjoyment out of for my money. yes ther are many cool and exciteing games on the X-Box or Gamecube, but i dont really want to spend 200$ just to play Halo/Halo2 or Super Smash Bros Melee.

however, i AM mad at Twin Snakes being GC only >_<

GC is $100 Canadian right now :D

add in the cost of SuperSmash and 3 more controllers, and you get 200+

Baaah $20 for SSBM and ask your friends to bring their own controlers

Console war conversations have a certain effect on me.

Its akin to hearing this:

"Dude, Ozzy rules"
and
"oh yeah, wanna fight about it?"

If you dont like a system, dont buy it. Plain and simple.
Most people that waste time bashing a game system they supposedly dont like, dont own it. How can you not like it, if you spend no time playing on it?
You also end up missing out on a lot of great games because of the "my local sports team is better than your local sports team" attitude.

Bothers me too Sabs, However, I have a problem with gamers who stand on top their game machine like an impromptu soapbox and declare "my system rules, yours sucks"

Money is always a factor, and I think because some choose a gamecube, or an "X-brick" they should not be ostrasized because of it. I own all 3, and have no favorite. The reason I own all 3, is because I dont want to miss out on a great game because its system specific.

My little vent has nothing to do with system loyalty, thats commendable.
Its the system haters that chap my ass >.<

Asia, you are my hero.

Next will be Amano.

This I highly doubt....Amano isn't really part of Square Enix. He has his own art shows in New York now and is a huge part of the Fine Arts community. Amano isn't a Game Character Designer....he's an artist.

He just kind of still does Logo Designs and a few random pics for SE...he doesn't even design the characters anymore.

I wish more people would realize this...

Anyway, when Nobuo Uematsu left SE, he issued a statement to his fan club stating that he wants to work at his own pace, and spend more time with The Black Mages (his rock band).

Translation: He's not working for a single video game company anytime soon.

I really wish he would get back with Yasunori Mitsuda (who composed the soundtrack for Xenosaga II, which is just brilliant), but he works for Namco, so that's just wishful thinking I suppose.
