This is a thread I have on the Nightblade message boards, just thought I'd post it here for anyone to read and enjoy. Unfortunatly, alot of chapters got cut off when my old message board blew up.

--------------------------------------------

Since my chapters are long gone with the old boards....i'll recap and continue on with mah story. ^.^

RECAP

At the age of 10, Brin lost his mother, Lilith Ahlrine to an illness and was there by her side at her last moments. The two had lived out on the streets ever since Brindalo had left…..and now Brin was alone, or so he had thought.

Kao, an old friend of Lilith and Brindalo, took Brin under his care. It was in Jeuno that Brin was trained in the basics of adventuring. It was also in Jeuno where Brin had a kind, yet a bit annoying, girl named Anayia. The two always spent much time together and life seemed good until a tragic accident ended Anayia up in the hands of goblins.

Luckily, Anayia’s life was saved my Kao and Brin, who was now 14 years old. Anayia was not quite the same though. She began her training with Kao to ensure she could protect herself if such an incident was ever to happen again.

Over time, both Brin and Anayia became more adept to the art of defending one’s self. Anayia excelled in the arts of the monk while Brin, while quite proficient with a staff and polearm, leaned toward the art of the warrior to walk in his father’s footsteps.

At the age of 18, Brin was sent out on his final test with Anayia to retrieve a certain item for Kao. They would travel from Jeuno to Windurst on foot. A trek which would be riddled with hazards.

Already they had narrowly avoided certain doom in Sauramugue Champaign…..and it was with the help of a white mage passing by that they had survived.

CHAPTER 08

As Brin ate some of the food that he had packed, sitting next to the fire, he looked over the white mage who was sitting near the fire as well and asked him, "Not to be rude.....but....your not from Windurst are you?"

The white mage shook his head and answered, "No.....i'm not. Its my accent right? I get it all the time. No.....I'm from Bastok. Not an easy place to live for a taru but I do what I must to survive."

“Whats your name by the way, young one?”

Brin replied, “Brin Ahlrine.”

The white mage nodded and said, “Ahlrine eh? I am…..Rhonin Seather. I suppose you hail from San d’Oria right?”

A cold breeze brought Brin closer to the fire as he replied, “Well….I was born in San d’Oria, but I live in Jeuno now.”

Rhonin replied, “I see…I see. What brings you all the way out here if you don’t mind me asking?”

Brin smiled and said, “Oh no….I don’t mind. My….companion and I are on our way to Windurst to retrieve an item for my master. Its….a training exercise.”

Rhonin slapped his hand on his knee with a smile as he said, “Ahhh…it all makes sense now. Well, I wish you all the luck on your journey. The road ahead is quite perilous.”

“Who is your master by the way?”

Brin told the white mage taru, “His name is Kao. He’s an elvaan monk who once fought in the Crystal War.”

Rhonin replied, “Well…..isn’t that something else? Training from the Iron Fist himself.”

Brin said, “So you have heard of him I assume?”

Rhonin told Brin, “There is not many who have not heard of him. He is a great and powerful monk. After the Crystal War though…..he sort of…..disappeared. So I suppose he’s living in Jeuno now…..that’s nice.”

Brin asked Rhonin, “Did you fight in the Crystal War?”

Rhonin chuckled a bit as he replied, “No….no. I was much too young then. I did hear the great stories of the heroes with much interest though. I always wished to achieve such greatness as white mages have before me, but it just wasn’t in the cards for me. No regrets though….I am satisfied with my life.”

Brin replied, “Aye…..I hope to be a great warrior someday.”

Rhonin told the elvaan, “Perhaps one day you shall.”

“Now…..I don’t know about you but I’m pretty tired. If any of the undead comes near, I’ll be able to sense it and wake up. We should be alright though. This is a safe area to camp.”

Brin shook his head in agreement as he said, “Yes….I am quite tired.”

“Anayia, how about you?”

Looking back at Anayia, Brin noticed that she was sitting still, meditating. Opening one eye, Anayia replied, “I’ll be fine Brin…….just get some rest.”

Brin scratched the back of his head as he said, “Alright then……”

Once morning came, Brin noticed that she was still sitting in that same spot meditating. “Did she stay up all night?”, thought Brin as he prepared himself for the journey into the Meriphataud Mountains. By the time Brin was ready to leave, Anayia stood up and asked, “Are you ready to go?” Brin nodded his head yes and looked back at Rhonin as the taru said, “Well…..I suppose I shall be heading onward to the citadel now. You two take care of yourselves. The mountains of Meriphataud are not much friendlier than Sauramauge.”

Brin waved goodbye to his newly acquired friend as the two parted ways. The rest of Anayia’s and Brin’s journey was made very cautiously as they came closer and closer to the mountainous ranges of Meriphataud. Walking across the rocky ground, Brin looked over to Anayia and asked, “Your not tired are you?”

Anayia replied without even looking at Brin, the sweat dripping down her soft face in the hot sun, “No Brin……I’m not. I have trained myself to be able to go with minimal sleep. Had you taken your training seriously…..you would be able to do the same.”

Brin, looking a bit offended, told Anayia, “That’s not fair Anayia. I have always taken my training seriously, even before I had met you.”

Without slowing her pace, Anayia said, “Have you Brin? Truly…..you have taken for granted everything you have.”

Grinding his teeth in frustration, Brin held back his anger as he said, “Can we focus on the mission at hand? You have changed so much over the years……I..”

Anayia turned back to look at Brin, her red hair swinging furiously to one side as she said, “I don’t want to hear it Brin. You don’t know me……nobody knows me. Now stay focused…….were in the Meriphataud Mountains. If we are quick, we can make it to Tahrongi Canyon before nightfall.”

CHAPTER 09

Fortunately, traveling through the Meriphataud Mountains wasn’t as bad as Brin was dreading it to be. They came to an outpost shortly after entering Meriphataud and was even able to replenish their supplies there. The guard was quite helpful in lending advice and directions.

Nothing prepared Brin for the sight before him when his elvaan eyes came upon the Drogaroga’s Spine. The spine was an amazing and mysterious structure from the years long past. It stretched from one side of Meriphatuad to the other. Brin asked Anayia in amazement, “Have you ever seen anything like that Anayia?”

The red-headed hume monk replied, “Do not lose your focus…...there are Boggart’s all around it and none look quite friendly at all. We’ll have to move carefully.

As Brin sighed from his companion’s comment, Anayia took two bottles out with what seemed like a dark liquid inside as she said, “Take one of these and rub it all over. The sneak oil will absorb into your body so that we can have a chance of passing by these weapons without catching their interest.”

Taking one of the sneak oils from Anaiya, the warrior apprentice asked her, “How did you get these??”

The monk gestured her head toward the direction the outpost was in as she said, “The merchant at the outpost handed them over as a gesture of kindness……and for a bit of gil.”

Brin nodded as he said, “Well……we will defiantly need it. These weapons are not to be underestimated.”

CHAPTER 10

Once the sneak oil was applied to both Anayia and Brin, they both made a quick dash by the boggarts lurking around Drogaroga’s Spine. Brin held his sword tight in his hand just in case ‘something’ was to happen.

Luckily, the oils lasted long enough to get them through the dangers of the Meriphitaud Mountains. Before they knew it, they were in Tahrongi Canyon as the evening approached. Their quick transit through the mountains left the two quite tired. For once, Brin was glad to see Anayia was actually still mortal and able to feel fatigue.

As they set up camp in the shade, Brin volunteered to go get water from one of the cacti. Anayia raised an eyebrow as she asked the elvaan who was covered in sweat, “Are you sure you don’t want to take a nap first? You’ll need to stay nimble to avoid any goblins in the area. Goblins are known to set-up camp near water sources.”

Brin was frankly quite tired of her snide comments. If he ever traveled with another monk….it would be too soon. The elvaan replied wearily, “I can handle it…..just…..just make sure everything is ready for when I get back. We need water…so…..I’ll go get the water.”

The monk in training nodded as she said, “Very well then……be careful Brin.”

Making sure his buckler was still secure and in place, Brin walked off without saying another word to Anayia. As he walked onward, he brushed his dirty wet blonde bangs out of his eyes while focusing on the task at hand.

It did not take too long to arrive at a group of cacti. In the middle of all the cacti, a goblin tinkerer and a goblin digger sat back against each other’s backside taking a nap. The tinkerer wore his black helmet even in this heat. Brin thought to himself, “Well…..at least their sleeping.”

Carrying a small knife and a pouch in his hands, Brin crept ever so closely to one of the cacti. Luckily, goblins could not hear all too well. The warrior in training was not about to let Anayia say “I told you so.”, so Brin worked quickly and effienciantly as he took water from the cactus.

Once Brin had all the water he needed, the elvaan crept off from the cactus. He was almost safely away until he clumsily tripped, due to his exhaustion, and fell to the dirt. The sudden impact woke the two goblins up very quickly. The annoyed goblins pulled out their weapons and looked about, growling curses the whole time since their sleep was interrupted. Brin scrambled up and ran at the same time the goblins found what had made the noise. The two goblins gave chase instantly as Brin ran as quickly as he could in hopes of loosing them.

After running for so long, Brin realized that not only did he not have a chance of loosing the two goblins, but he also had no idea where he was. And now…….Brin was out of strength, and could run no longer. As the goblins approached, Brin thought to himself, “I cant believe its going to end like this. Such a simple task……and I failed.”

Chapter 11

As Brin wearily drew his sword to defend himself, the goblin digger shot an arrow from his crossbow at the elvaan. The arrow missed Brin just barely, as he leapt to the side onto the ground. The goblin tinkerer brought his black blade down with a sheer delight. Brin was just barely able to defend the attack in time as he brought his own sword up as he lay on the ground.

Before the tinkerer could strike again, a mithra came out of nowhere and landed a flying kick right into the side of the goblin tinkerer’s head. This sent the goblin tumbling to the ground. Brin scrambled up from the dirt to see Anayia save him from the goblins. The monk leapt at the goblin digger and began slamming her fists into the goblins soft flesh. As Anayia went toe to toe with the goblin digger, the tinkerer stood up angrily and quickly charged at the monk.

Brin was about to rush in to help, even though he knew neither he nor Anayia would be no match for the goblins, but all of a sudden he witnessed something amazing. Right as the tinkerer approached the red-headed hume, she performed the technique she had been practicing to perfect for quite a long time. She performed the “Hundred Fists” technique, and fought both goblins at the same time. Anayia’s fists pounded the globins so quickly that it was hard to watch her motions.

The goblins did not expect this sudden outburst of energy and were subdued quickly. When the dust settled, the goblin’s were left on the ground dead. The tinkerer’s armor was all dented-in all over, and out of the eye-holes the goblins blood leaked out. The digger was in no better shape and was almost unrecognizable.

Anayia breathed heavily as she looked back at Brin and said, “Did you at least get the water.”

Brin nodded in amazement as he said, “A-aye…….I’ve got it.”

Hands covered in goblin blood, Anayia said without emotion, “Then lets head back to camp. The sun will be setting soon……and I would like to get an early start.”

Chapter 12

The two walked back to the camp wearily and in silence. Even once they arrived at the camp, Anayia cleaned the blood away and Brin drank some water all done in silence. Anayia had always been slightly stronger than Brin for sometime now. She learned techniques faster than him and progressed overall at a quicker pace. Brin, however, refused to see this for so long until now. It had now become harshly apparent of how behind he was.

Brin had trained with Kao for much longer than Anayia had, yet somehow she was the best. The elvaan was now ashamed for always being so angry with Anayia. She had always been right…….Brin just did not push himself hard enough. He still acted like a kid. It was time for Brin to grow up. Anayia had long past already grown up…..ever since that time in Yuhtunga Jungle.

The two went to sleep when no words had yet to been spoken as the night filled the sky. The red waning moon high in the sky watched over the camp. The young Brin had dreadful nightmares that night. He tossed and turned in his sleep as he saw horrid visions of his friends dying. If only he was stronger…..he would be able to protect everyone he loved.

Sun rising from the east and winds blowing from the west, Brin and Anayia woke up early in hopes of reaching Sarutabaruta before nightfall. As they broke down the camp, Brin said to Anayia, “I’m sorry.” At first, Anayia looked at him a bit confused until Brin continued, “I’m sorry how I’ve been acting. You have reached a level I have yet to reach, but now, I truly plan to reach it and will do whatever it takes. It is time that I lived on my own two feet. Once we return to Jeuno……I will tell Kao that I’m moving back to San d’Oria, to my home. I will become stronger and one day……I shall be at your level and we’ll once again be equals.”

Anayia saw that this was not as simple of Brin wanting to be stronger,….she saw that Brin only wanted to be her equal. He wanted his friend back that he lost long ago. Thinking about it now, Anayia agreed that she had been quite cold to Brin all these years. Perhaps she could try a little harder to be more civil…..but some things will never change. After her experience in Yuhtunga Jungle, she was never the same and never will be the same again. Anayia looked at Brin and said, “I am sure you will accomplish your goals, just as sure as I am that you will be as great as your father. For now, let us focus on the task at hand.”

It wasn’t much but it was the nicest thing Anayia had ever said to Brin in quite some time. With a renewed sense of self worth, Brin walked with Anayia while being watchful of any aggressive animals or beastmen. Their journey was not quite over yet.

Chapter 13

The hours melted away as Brin and Anayia traversed the dusty Tahrongi Canyon. Being very wary of the local beastmen, the two were able to make it through the canyon with no problems. As they came closer and closer to East Sarutabaruta, more and more small huts could be seen here and there. They were finally within the bounds of civiliazation. The past few days had been rough, but now Brin’s weary eyes glanced at passing travelers which brought a smile upon his face.

The two young adventurers made such good time that they were in East Sarutabaruta before the sun had set. But now, it was coming quite close to nightfall and the two would have to set up camp soon.

Anayia glanced over to Brin and said, “We’ll set up camp near the Zanbibi River…..but not too close. The yagudo use the rivers as their water source. No need to bring trouble down on us now we can easily avoid it. Tomorrow, we’ll head straight for Windurst Woods.”

Brin nodded as he shook the canteen and said, “We have more than enough water to last us tonight anyway. I have no problem with camping a safe distance from the river.”

Once the two found a proper spot to set up camp, Anayia went to go collect wood for the fire while Brin set the tents up. It wasn’t too long till Anayia finally returned with a stack of wood to cook the land crab meat she had gotten from the river crab she had killed.

The night then followed with stories of all the experiences the two had been in while training under Master Kao. Some of the stories were regretful…..some were happy…..and some were even a bit sad. Most importantly though, Brin and Anayia were finally seeming to get along and talk as they once did before that incident in Yuhtunga Jungle all those years ago. Brin was glad to see that this trip had not only opened his eyes a bit more, but had also opened the eyes of his companion.

As the stories began to wind down, Brin asked Anayia, “So…..what are you going to do once you’ve learned everything you can from Kao?”

Anayia crossed her arms and bit her a lip slighty before responding, “I don’t suppose I’ve given it much thought. I know that I should have……but, sometimes it just seems like I’ll always have something to learn from Kao. The realization of it all….is that I’m going to find myself lost in the world. I mean…..how else can I become stronger? Master Kao had spoke of living alone in the mountains before, and that the experience had enlightened him. Perhaps that should be my next step? I suppose I should live somewhere away from civilization to become totally self-reliant.”

Raising an eyebrow, Anayia asked Brin, “And what of you? I suppose you’ll be joining the San d’Orian Army like your father before you?”

Brin nodded slowly, appearing to be lost in thought, as he said, “Aye….I’ll be proud to walk in my father’s footsteps.”

Anayia said, “You don’t seem to be too certain.”

Brin shook his head as he said, “No no…..I am….I was just thinking about something else.”

“Care to share?”, asked the red-headed hume.

Brin shook his head “no” once more and said, “I’d rather not. Lets….lets just get some sleep alright?”

Anayia nodded as she said, “Good night then Brin.”

The two then headed to their separate tents and went to sleep. The night was peaceful as Brin has his usual odd dreams, but it wasn’t anything too dramatic. In fact, it was perhaps the best sleep he had gotten the whole trip.

In the morning, right as the sun was creeping over the horizon, Brin woke up before Anayia…..which was quite unusual. Lazily, Brin crept out of his tent only to be met with a sharp blade in his face. The goblin thug holding the knife, said menacingly with his brown mask secure to his calloused face, “Don’t make any sudden movements now. You get up now….and hand over all yer supplies, and if you even think of waking up your friend then you’ll be dead before you can blink.”

Brin held his hands up with his palms facing outward, showing that he didn’t have a weapon, as he crept out of the tent. Standing up, Brin felt the knife poke him in the back as the goblin forced him to take out his valuables. Luckily….his sword was lying right next to his pack of supplies. The elvaan would have to be quick though……and this time, he would have to do this alone.

CHAPTER 14

With one hand, Brin dug through his supplies, and with the other hand…..the elvaan let it go over the hilt of his blade. In one swift motion, Brin tore the sword from its place and swung it around to meet the blade of the dagger that the goblin thug held so tightly. The goblin had only been quick enough to defend from the attack, but now that he saw Brin was ready to fight, the goblin would show him his true skills with a dagger.

Fortunatly, thanks to his training, Brin gave the goblin a run for his gil, although, without his buckler or armor, the elvaan would be at a disadvantage. Dodging a few of the goblin’s attacks, Brin kept focused as he attacked the goblin fiercely. The goblin seemed to be even more evasive than the elvaan. Some of the attacks Brin would almost dodge but not enough to keep the dagger from drawing blood.

As the fight went on, Brin was beginning to feel fatigued. This was obvious as the sweat rolled down his face and his breathing became raspy. The goblin saw victory in sight, and decided to use his ‘trump card’. After one of Brin’s attacks went through the goblin’s defense and cut across his left arm, the thug leapt back then charged forward instituting the ever popular technique called the “Goblin Rush”.

This was an attack that Brin was not able to defend against. The intense blow of the attack knocked Brin down on the ground onto his back. His clothes were obviously torn and slowly the blood began to come forth. Brin slowly stood up, coughing as the goblin cackled and said, “You just had to do this the hard way eh? Heheheh….”

Brin couldn’t give up though. He would fight till the very end…….which it would be the end for him if he didn’t think of something soon. The goblin had the upper hand, but he was still a bit tired from the fight as well.

For so long, Brin had tried to learn a particular technique, which Kao had tirelessly had tried to teach him. Now was the time to show that he was worth a damn. Now was the time to prove to himself that he was worthy enough to walk in his father’s footsteps.

As the goblin rushed forward to end Brin’s life, the elvaan leapt forward himself, performing the technique he had long since failed at…..”Mighty Strikes”. The goblin was taken by surprise, as Brin’s attacks seemed to be intensified….tearing into his flesh like Selbina Butter. The sudden rush of pain caused the goblin to lose his defensive position, and he was quickly brought down to his knees.

Brin, in a berserker rage…..yet focused as much as one in his position could be……slashed forward one last time to take off the head of the goblin thug. The head hit the ground and rolled helplessly away, as the body of the goblin fell to the dirt with a ‘thud’.

Covered in blood……some his own and some from the goblin……Brin went down to his knees in exhaustion, still holding on to his sword with both hands wrapped tightly around the hilt. Breathing heavily, Brin only stared in awe at the dead body of the goblin. His victory amazed him and brought him much needed confidence.

Behind him stood Anayia with her arms crossed and silent as always. After the moment of silence, Anayia said, “You did well Brin.”

Brin looked back, not surprised that she was there, and said, “So you let me fight him by myself?”

Anayia replied, “And had I helped you, would you have been able to push yourself as far as you had?”

Brin looked back at the body of the goblin and nodded while he said, “No….your right. I’m glad you didn’t interfere. It truly was something I needed to do myself. Now….I’ll go wash up and we’ll continue our journey.”

Anayia agreed and waited as Brin washed up in the river and cleaned the blood from his sword. Their adventure was almost half-way done, for soon…..they would be in Windurst.

CHAPTER 15

It had been so long…..but finally, Brin and Anayia had arrived in Windurst Woods. Brin let out a sigh of relief and said, “Now…..we need to find the Timbre Timbers.”

Anayia nodded toward the chocobo stables to the south as she said, “I’m sure someone who works there would know.”

Nodding in agreement, Brin followed Anayia toward the stables. As they walked, Brin was amazed at how much different Windurst was from Jeuno and San d’Oria. This city almost seemed like it had rose right of the ground. Everything seemed so natural and peaceful.

Once the two arrived at the stables, Anayia approached one of the mithras standing outside and asked her, “Do you know where I can find the Timbre Timbers?”

The mithra looked at the two adventurers with a questioning eye as she said, “You’ve neverrr been to Windurst have you?” After Brin responded with a simple shake of the head, the mithra continued, “Well, Timbrrre Timbers is over in Windurst Waterrrrs, south of Huntsman’s Court, acrrrros from the Rarab Tail Hostelry.”

Brin bowed slighty to the mithra and said, “Thank you for all the help…..now…if you could please point us in the direction of Windurst Waters?”

With a smile and a chuckle, the mithra responded, “Overrr on the northwest side of Windurst. You have quite a walk in storrre for you I’d say.”

Anayia nodded and said, “We’ve been walking all day today…..a bit more won’t hurt us. Thank you again.”

As Brin and Anayia began to leave the chocobo stables, a tarutaru waved them over, trying to get their attention. Brin scratched the back of his head after gesturing for Anayia to follow him. Looking down on the taru, Brin asked, “Do you need something?”

The taru replied, “Hello-wello there! My name is Pattsu-Yabittsu, and I’ve been practicing my magic. I was wondering if you would be so kindly-windly as to let me warp you to Windurst Waters?”

Anayia shrugged and said, “I don’t really care.” Brin, after looking at Anayia’s response, looked back at the taru and said, “Well then…..I suppose it would be alright. We need to head to Windurst Waters anyway. There shouldn’t be any problems that could occur right?”

Pattsu-Yabittsu held his small little belly as he chuckled and said, “It will be fine! I’m very-wery good at casting “Warp”. This is like a work-out for me.”

The next moment, the two vanished within swirling pools of dark energy. Once they had their bearings straight, they asked one of the residents where they were. The stranger thought them to be quite odd as he said, “Uhh….Windurst Waters of course.”

A bit embarrassed for asking, Brin offered his thanks as Anayia had a look around then finally said, “I believe were in Huntsman’s Court.”

Brin looked back at Anayia and asked, “How could you be so sure?”

Anayia pointed at the tavern across the way and said, “That sign on the tavern says ‘Timbre Timbers’.”

Brin smiled and said, “Well…..that was almost too easy. We’ll have the special item that Master Kao wants before nightfall. I’m looking forward to sleeping in an actual bed tonight.”

Without further discussion, the hume and the elvaan approached the tavern.

This is great stuff ^^ Looking forward to the next chapter.

(( Thanks for all the encouragement everyone! I'm glad you like the story. I'll be writing up the next chapter soon. ))

I will....I just dont usually write on weekends. I'll probably have something new up tomorrow. :)

CHAPTER 16

As they walked in, Brin looked around before turning to Anayia and asking, “How will we know who the person is that were looking for? How do we even know he’s already in here waiting for us?”

Anayia shook her head and said, “Kao had said that this person would find us. All we have to do is sit and wait.”

Brin slightly blushed as he scratched the back of his head and said, “Oh, that’s right…..well….I suppose we should get something eat then eh?”

The hume shrugged as she said, “Doesn’t matter to me. If your hungry then lets sit down and eat.”

The two had a seat at the extremely short tables and had to basically squat on the floor. Before long, one of the tarus who worked there took their order. They both had a simple meal due to the small amount of gil they were limited to spending. Still, it was much better than the food that they had to hunt for up to the point of arriving in Windurst, thought Brin.

As they ate in silence, a tarutaru wearing a brown cloth with the hood drawn over his head approached the table. With his eyes hidden within the hood, he spoke softly, interrupting Brin and Anayia’s meal, “The “Iron Fist” sent you did he not?”

Brin stopped eating with his fork halfway to his mouth, while just noticing the taru at that moment. As he set his fork down, cautiously watching the taru, Anayia had replied to the taru, “Yes, he did.”

The mood seemed a bit tense as the taru’s hand went inside his brown robes and pulled out a flask of some type of liquid. The taru said, “This for the “Iron Fist”. Tell him that I thank him for his contribution.”

Anayia took the flask from the taru as Brin asked, “Whats in it?”

Anayia glared at Brin as if he has just said something rude, but just as easily as the question was asked, the taru answered equally as easily, “In that flask…….is my special blend….of liquor.”

Brin staggered and fell over on to the ground, and even Anayia faltered a bit at learning what they had traveled all that way for. As Brin picked himself up off the floor, he said, “That’s it??”

The taru crossed his arms angrily as he exclaimed with his hood still covering his eyes, “Whataru do you mean, ‘that’s it’? That is some of the best spirits in all of Windurst! How rudey-wudey.”

Anayia stood up and bowed toward the taru as she said, “Please forgive us, we are just a bit out of sorts today. I thank you for your time and wish you well.”

The taru simply spun around in the other direction and stormed off, muttering under his breath. Anayia looked over at Brin with a mean look as she said, “That was a bit unnecessary wouldn’t you think?”

Brin stood up and looked at Anayia in surprise as he said, “Are you serious? Your not in the least bit miffed that we had to come all this way for liquor?”

Anayia replied, “The point of the training had nothing to do with what the item is…..the point was the journey was to challenge us, which it has. Now, I see you have obviously had your fill of food, so let us be off to bed so that we may get an early start in the morning. The journey isn’t done yet.”

As Anayia walked past Brin and out of the tavern, the elvaan put his hand to his forehead as he said, “By the Light…..that woman is impossible.” Brin then followed Anayia out of the tavern.

^.^ I say that honestly it isn't so much RP as it is a really freaking great fan fic almost lol. ^.~ great job on the writing, you're very talented. I can honestly count on one hand the number of people that aren't proffesional writers that write this good. *claps excitedly* GJ lol.

(( Thank you, everybody, for all the kind words. ^.^ I always enjoy ppl getting a kick out of what I write and posting what they think. And yea....it kinda is more of a fan fic, but its actually background story RP for my character. My members and myself post stuff like this all the time on our own message board, I just so happen to post this one here as well so that more ppl get a chance to read it. You can expect another chapter really soon. ))

CHAPTER 17

And so….the stern faced, red-headed, hume and the innocent looking, blonde haired, elvaan, made their way out of Windurst come dawn. When Brin saw Anayia leave the residence area as he waited for her, he noticed that she had braided her hair into one long braid which came down to her upper back.

Anayia approached the grinning elvaan with the same composed look she always maintained. Just as he she suspected he would, Brin asked Anayia about her hair. She replied, “I didn’t feel like cutting my hair again…..so I had to braid it so that it doesn’t get in my way when I fight.”

Brin coughed into his hand, then collected himself and said, “Well then….I spoke to someone who said that there is another black mage who warps folks to Windurst Woods. His name is Torono, and he hangs out around the east side of the Optistery basically all day. I suppose once were in Windurst Waters then we’ll head out the same way……out to East Saurutabaruta.”

With a kind nod, Anayia said, “Well then….looks like we’ll be on our way in no time. We should take our training to the next level though. I propose we try to make it back to Jeuno on foot within three days.”

The elvaan staggered a bit as he replied, “Three days eh? That’s a day less then what it took to get here. We’ll almost have to run the entire way…..and still avoid the aggressive animals out there.”

Anayia nodded and said, “Exactly……You are willing to make it to the next level aren’t you Brin?”

Sighing heavily, Brin replied, “Aye…..I’m sure glad I got a good night of sleep. Well, no use in waiting around. I suppose we should get started.”

With a light laugh, Anayia ruffled up Brin’s hair and said, “That’s the spirit. Now lets get going!”

As Anayia ran off toward the Optisitery, Brin followed close behind her as he thought, “For a second….it was as if she was the same old Anayia I once knew. Perhaps it’s always been there….I just wasn’t looking hard enough.” A grin began to creep up Brin’s face.

It was time to return to Jeuno.
