Well, I'm doing some crafting in Windurst, at the AH as my level 15 Rng/war.

This guy Gothica comes out and shouts "I NEED A FUCKING TELEPORT."

I am annoyed, but I ignore it.

I continue crafting, he shouts again.

"YOU FUCKING LAZY ASS WHM'S THAT DONT TELEPORT"

So I see him, and I say, not shout, "Shut the hell up."
He examines me, so I examine him back. He's also a lvl 15 Rangers. Rng/nin I noticed. And his gear sucks. It sucks badly.
"Get a pair of leaping boots you lazy ass RNG,"
He shuts up, but enter this guy Marx, he examines me, and as he can't find anything wrong with my gear(it's the best possible trust me) he calls me a gimp for WAR sub. Now this is where I proceed to get in an argument with 3 people at once about how nin sub is better.
Marx is saying how I'm a damn gimp for subbing Warrior as ranger.

First off, let's make this clear. Before I even started ranger, my WAR and my NIN are both level 37+. This was before my ranger hit level 2. I'm also leveling SAM as a third sub, go figure.
At level 10, I checked the stats of /war and /nin. They are, in fact, identical. Before posting I checked stat difference at 15. Same everything, except /war has 1 more strength.
So Marx is like more acc is better than more str. Which I agree, however nin sub isn't more acc. Then someone bitches I've got no dual wield. No duel wield yet... lvl 20. Marx is SURE I have more agi as nin sub. I tell him I don't. Which is true. At least for that exact level I checked, and as tarutaru. But I get more STR and HP with WAR.

What really gets me, is aftar Marx walks away he sends me a /tell

(Little? because I'm taru or because I'm a new ranger. This is like my 12 lowest job sorry you've got 1 job higher level than it).

Then he continues...
"u lil shit i got over 20 mil in gear in my mog... keep talking"
"and I play THE most powerful job out there," he cointues.

And I inform him about my 75 BLM. Perhaps his lvl 30 or whatever ranger isn't impressing me in terms of l33t damage.
Then he goes off saying how I should know better than to rip apart that poor noob ranger. You know the one who was swearing at all the whitemages over shout? And he said assholes do that shit for fun, rip apart newbies.
(Like the newby he thought I was maybe? That he tried to rip apart for having an actually intelligent sub for the lower levels???)
So I start to barrage him with all the damn reasons WAR sub is better til 20, and he stops responding.

What pissed me off most about this guy was his attitude. He was so elite-minded he thought just by the fact I disagreed with him I must think I was a stupid idiot.

Well sorry I prefer more HP, more str as opposed to... subbing nin til 20 so some stupid assholes by windurst auction house won't call me a gimp?

So if any of you see my new buddy Marx and the newest entry to the Firestreak blacklist, give him a hi from me.
 
Right before I logged off and went to lunch, I heard that Gothica guy /shouting in Windurst. I just thought to myself, "How long before that turns into an arguement?" I guess it wasn't too long. :D

As for that Marx guy, I absolutely HATE people who think they are hot shit just because this is an online game. They think they can say whatever they want, and of course they're right because they're the bigger asshole. It's idiots like Marx, people who wont listen to reason even when they're clearly wrong, and then continue to act like they are superior, really really annoy me. The kind of people who just don't stop talking, and when you give up and go on to better uses of your time, they act as if they "owned" you.

since when was NIN sub useful for anything before lvl 20 at the very least?
 
I have seen Gothica around, *cough only recently, and didn't know anything about him...Thanks for letting me know he's an ignorant bastard I don't really need to deal with.

Bah I'm RNG22 right now and I'd only bother subbing nin at 24 for utsusemi but even then its not that useful till archer's knives at 28. Bah I'd sub war also or actually whm, costs a bit more but i rather solo while it's still doable, and avoid the mess of lower level parties.
 
Ok post 20 and 24 in particular I will say /nin is hands down the best sub for ranger, before that who gives a shit? I mean honestly you have LL boots and good gear, why is he bitching about at most 1 AGI. He is trying to defend his loud mouth friend is what, and he does not have a leg to stand on.
 
If your a Taru RNG, WAR sub is hands down the best sub til 28, so long as yoru gonna dual wield Archers Knives or something to that effect. The WAR sub will help you take more damage in pulls and damagae when you pick up hate, NIN sub is only better if your gonna spam Utsusemi.
 
It's funny how people read somewhere that a particular sub is better AT THE HIGHER LEVELS, and then automatically think they have to have that sub at every single level from one on. No sub is ever considered "the best" simply for stats. It's all about what abilities it can give ya, and that only applies after certain levels.

Who ever says war is gimp sub for range probably never played with war.War has berserk and all that str enhancing abilties and stats....Ninja is a defensive sub thats used when the pld cant keep hate.ofcourse if the pld could keep hate then i dont think there is any use of nin sub left... it gives like 1 agi and i think the 25 percent attack increase or something is alot better than that.i subbed nin with my thf for a while and then tried war... war had alot better dmg as compared to nin but ofcourse nin is better when u are pulling raptors but war has always more dmg than a nin sub.
 
I agree NIN sub is good to have, but personally, if I lvl my RNG, I'd rather have WAR sub. True be it NIN give utsusemi/more Agi But hey, Berserk/Sharpshot/Barrage is one kick ass thing. NIN is no good til lvl 28 in my opinion. Dual Archer's/Hawker's are nice. but until then, WAR is hands down the best. You get mroe attack per hit.
 
Btw firestreak u do have the habbit of talking shit about other people's weapons and armor (even skill in those weapons).SO i'm glad atleast someone made u feel the same way u make other ppl feel when u call em gimp :lol: eventhough he didnt know what he was talaking about :twisted:
 
I'm not defending Gothica or Marx, they deserve to be on my Blacklist. With that said...

Had he been minding his own business, or even been an unaggressive party member, I'd never had said what I said. I don't get my kicks out of running around in game calling people gimps. He just needed his mouth shut.
 
Marx sounds like some 12 year old shit head who had his step dad buy him gil. I wouldn't think of subbing /Nin before level 24 or 28.

Yes I have. I missed 1/2 of my Sidewinders, The damage I did fades in the DoT the other ranger was doing. Sure my Numbers were fancy and such, but over all, it sucked because I had nothing to defend myself with if I got hate, and I had to rely on Davio (Pld at the time) to regain hate, or the other ranger to take it off me.

But we're talking about lvl 15 RNG so no Strider yet ^^
 
If you have the means to get an advanced job, you have the means to get fricking leaping boots. You have to have gotten some job to 30. It should have been either THF or WAR, with the other one to 15 for subjob. At which case you can just camp the damn thing. Those boots are a necessity to ANYONE playing a melee job. But obviously until you're either 30 /w sub THF or a 18ish thf you don't really have the means to get them. But by advanced job you need them. In fact you should camp 2. And sell 1 for the emperor's hairpin.
 
/NIN is preferred when fighting high evasion mobs (Torama, Raptors, Crawlers -post60-), or mobs that use AOE attacks that can be absorbed with Utsusemi (Weapons).

/WAR is great when fighting mobs that don't use high-damage AOE moves, as well as if you have a Bard in the party for Prelude.


Oh and some stats

Lv.75 RNG (Hume)

/NIN- STR: 62, AGI: 73, VIT: 65
/WAR- STR: 64, AGI: 72, VIT: 63
/THF- STR: 60, AGI: 73, VIT: 63

So what we have here is /NIN gives you the highest possible AGI (Tied with THF), the 2nd highest STR rating of the 3 subs, dual-wield for using two Ranged Accuracy/Attack Weapons, and Utsusemi for taking hits. /WAR gives you the highest STR of the 3 jobs, 1 Attack Bonus and 1 Defense Bonuse Job Trait, 1 point less of AGI, slightly lower VIT than /NIN (I'm not sure why this is), Berserk for boosting Attack Power (Which results in a very noticable boost in attack power) and Defender for boosting Defense when you pull the hate away. /THF is pretty useless as far as EXP goes. You get the same AGI as /NIN, the lowest STR of the 3 subs, you lose Dual-Wield, Utsusemi, as well as Berserk. You can Flee once every 5 minutes for difficult pulls (Though you'll find yourself partying with THF's and DRK/THF's frequently, so you don't really need this ability), and you get a couple Evasion Bonus Job Traits which do absolutely nothing with your evasion as a Ranger because it's E-Rating anyways.

Berserk obtained at Lv.15 WAR, Utsusemi obtained at Lv.12 NIN, Dual-Wield obtained at Lv.10 NIN, and Flee obtained at Lv.25 THF.

So the earliest you can use Berserk is 30, Utsusemi is 24, Dual-Wield is 24 (No R.ACC weapons available until 28, however), and Flee is 50.
