Has anyone ever considered xp pting in the proms... i mean the lvl cap is 30 but it wont stop you from lvl to whatever lvl you have next. I have dlvld and went to Prom holla and solod my lvl back but was wondering how come ppl dont go to proms more often i think they could be a good place for xping on busy nights. Also could remedy ppl having problems finding pts there lvl if you all are 30 you will get xp regarless of the lvl gap cauz there is none in Prom... i may put my thoery to the test. Anyone agree or disagree i would like to know what you all think.

Well simply because the exp/hour is terrible in there. On the first floor anyway.

Now that I think of it, maybe on the second or 3rd floor it would be possible to do so, but not sure. And getting there is still a pain.

As far as soloing, it's doable. I farm memories there with WAR/MNK. But bring a lot of bloody bolts and potions. And again, you get a few exp, but you have huge downtime.

That has been my experience so far, I don't know about the others.


On a side note, if you spend too much time leveling there, I don't think it would help ou in the long run. You won't be able to learn how to use new spell or new abilities.

Theorically, you could level from 30 to 75 (let's all assume you did Genkais with another job....) without having to buy new gear or spells, but then, you'd suck has a level 75.

My good friend Tempes brought this to my attention some time ago, you could exp from 30-75 in a promyvion in theory and by the time you did you'd have it to an art form... all the normal exp places crowded? fine! promyvion time...

A few friends and I actually tried this out once.
The Experience on the 3rd floor is decent, however.
The AoEs from the mobs can be brutal, and reeeeally slow down the chaining.
They can sometimes take long periods of time to take down (With one party, at least)...

Also, for the jobs that are 31+ the experience points seemed to be nerfed quite a bit. We had a 50ish in the party at the time (He was using his main), and he was getting a fair amount less than the rest of us.

I suppose the Experience wasn't -that- bad. But we did have to get there first (Not that hard, especially after the MR nerf), and once we did, the AoEs just tore us apart. Made it real slow.

You can't XP chain after you're a certain level (outside the zone), so you only get base EXP, no chains once your real level is at the point where the mob becomes "decent challenge".

Others will, though. I was in the subligar hunt in Phomuina as 41(capped to 40)WAR and got 50-170 exp off the shadows, whereas the people using 50+ jobs were getting 20-30.

indeed. each xp range(i.e. 41-50, 51-60, etc) gets less xp the higher it is. so lvling in cap areas probably isnt the greatest idea X.x

Ok, I just wanna share my little story if anyone wants to try and exp in promies.

Last night I went in promy-dem with Sakhmet to farm some memories to make anima. After a while on the first floor, it got boring cause we were killing empties so fast. Jobs were me RNG/NIN and Sak WHM/BLM by the way. Even Goger, Barrage (with gun) for 531 dmg, half his life gone on the pull, easy 60 exp.

So we decide to take on the receptacle on the first floor, just the 2 of us. Easy. Got to the second in no time.

On this floor, everything was EM or T, with Gogers being IT. We could get exp chain #1 on a regular basis and #2 a couple of time. Exp was between 46 and 90, with one 115 on exp chain #2. So I guess if you were to duo there, exp could be decent per hour, but more people in the party, not worth it I think.

So after an hour or so there, we decide it's time to get out and we should do it with style! So we attacked the second receptacle. And defeated it! Now, I don't know if these increses in strenght like the empties from floor to floor, but it took more time and used that Seed ability more often.

So, it's possible to duo your way to the 3rd floor. For the 2nd receptacle, strategy was really easy. I use millitary gun and bullets by the way. First, kill the 3 strays (with the gun, it's a one-shot kill). Then shoot the Rec. but don't engage it. That way, when he pops a stray, just one-shot kill it on the spot. DON'T let the strays get to the whm. Receptacles always did the same thing, 3 strays then Empty Seed. So when you killed that 3rd stray, put your shadows up and fire at the Rec.

Whm kept Dia on the receptacle the whole time to prevent it from recovering. Use Barrage as soon as it's up and ws with TP you build off Strays. It takes a while to kill that Receptacle, but using that strategy, we got through it with more then half the whm mp left and I got in yellow twice only.

Once on the 3rd floor tho, we really had to log so we went for the Satiator. Ate us alive . Everything there was VT or IT, but we did not try. My guess is if you go with a reduced party, i.e. 4 members, you can probably gett good exp. Chaining I am not so sure about that.

For exp, we both are 30 and 31 outside of promy, so all that have stated is probably the best exp you can get in there.

Don't know if that helps, but if you wanna exp, I suggest a duo on the 2nd floor or 4-5 people on the 3rd one. AoE will kill your chain tho, as stated by someone previously.

Anyway, if I remember right, exp chains depend on your uncapped level, so chaining to 75 will be impossible. Also, the exp you get is either what you would get from your uncapped level, -or- half what you get at your capped level, whichever is more.
