Hockey 2008

On the radio they said it was the 8th longest game in history. Not sure if they meant during the playoffs or in general.

I'd imagine in history, since regular season games don't have multiple OT's.

You west coasters are lucky, I was up until 2:30 watching (well, fading in and out of sleep haha). Still, a great day of playoff hockey all around.

I thought Mellon Arena was going to implode when Hossa scored. I could seriously feel the whole place shifting, though I was so anxious I was shaking as well haha.

My emotion bet is Dallas vs. Pitt for the finals, but I have the feeling it'll be Det vs. Philly.

But how about that Malkin kid, I didn't see many Pitt games being in the South, but man he's the real deal.

Yes! Crosby gets a lot of the press, but Malkin is VERY good.

lol Sorry Morwen, it's the Philly fan in me. It seems the only way we'll ever win a championship again is some type of catasrophic incident to the other team(s). ; ;

More importantly, and I know it's been brought up, but how bout that goaltending in the Sharks-Stars game. There were some seriously phenominal saves. lol I was happy to re-watch everything on ESPN this morning at the gym (I <3 Tivo cuz I was not gonna stay up to watch that. Rather go to sleep early and wake up early)

sabers fan here, but im rootin for dallas... and i have to say this HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA to the sharks, i fucking hate that team... same with ottawa :X

Imagine if all American teams had to be made up of at least 60 percent American players. It would be bye-bye hockey franchises in American right now.

Everyone that bitches Canada is losing the cup again, really... look at Dallas, they have what 6 men on the roster of 29 from America and their top 3 play off point leaders are Canadian.

Detroit, they have 4 Americans. That really makes me wonder when their fans say, "Canada invented hockey, we perfected it" yea with some of Canada and Sweden's best players.

As far as I am concerned if the team won due to the playing skills of some awesome Canadian players then Canada did its job.

On a side rant, I feel the best hockey is pond hockey and the NHL should have more games OUTSIDE!!

Nationality and patriotism have a price. We decide your future.

muwa ha ha ha ha

Oh and by the way, I went to High School with R.J. Umberger and live apprx. 2 minutes from his house, so if he comes down with some sort of "Mysterious ailment" because "somebody" "hit him with a baseball bat", I swear to God it wasn't me.

I can't see Pittsburgh and Philly -not- being a 7 game series. Detroit and Dallas should be pretty interesting too. Glad Turco has gotten past a second round finally. But...

So good luck, Dallas!

lol I'm rooting for Dallas bad, I hate Detroit.

Tim, if you hurt Umberger I will pay a iranian fellow to "Place a firework in his car" and drive into the "vicinity" of crosby and "have an accidental brake malfunction" lol

I haven't been paying as much attention to the playoffs this year as I should be... I'm still rooting for a final series of DET vs PIT.

And did I serisously see Chelios with the puck a few nights ago??? When the hell is that geezer gonna retire?! Jesus, the guy is like 80 years old now.

Detroit looked pretty good last night, though I think it was a pretty weak game for the Stars. They really got away from the rough style they normally play and let Detroit run all over them. I'm really hoping Detroit sees some challenge in these playoffs before (if) they hit the Finals because they'll have some there.

But man, Detroit power play is dominating this year 23% (which is same as Stars to date actually, same as Penguins). That should be a huge factor in this series, if Dallas can start to deal with it, might actually get interesting.

I generally don't get to watch too much Western Conference hockey during the regular season, so I don't know a ton about these teams other than what I've seen over the last 3-4 weeks, but the Wings looked completely dominant. Their screens on Turco were executed to perfection, their power play was smooth, and they dominated physically. That formula is gonna win alot of games.

I think you nailed it. If Dallas continues to let Detroit have it's way in front of the net like that, Johan will get another trick and the series will be over in four. I'm happy Detroit won, but the effort of the Stars last night was attrocious.

Tim, tonight we go from friends to enemies as of 7:30 PM. GO FLYERS BABY

Grrrr. I busted out my vintage 1992 Away Lemieux Jersey for this one. Shit just got serious.

I have my John LeClair #10 Black away Jersey in prep for tonights away game from 1998. >.> I also have my Orange home jersey cleaned and ready for the next home game. Also John LeClair, because I played Left Wing and so did he and he was my hero. :B

Ugh, I hated them so much when LeClair played with Lindros and Brind'Amour. Also, Mark Recchi became a traitor and donned the Orange for a minute. Made me sick.

Jeremy Roenick.

Lindros-LeClair-Roenick = Legion of doom if I remember right. It's been a while and "the legion of doom" did shit for me cuz they didn't win a championship. Far less memorable to me than Bobby Clarke and the the Broadstreet Bullies and I wasn't even alive then.

Totally wearing my Red Wings shirt to work on Saturday. Fortunately they let us where sports shirts when playoffs are on and I'm sick of wearing black all the time. Oh, I almost forgot...

GO WINGS! DOMINATE THAT SHIT! XD
