Well, I did it, the bug FINALLY got me...

Idk how many people remember me or even knew me, but I've decided to pick up FFXI on a trial basis here and dip my toes in the water! Been doing a LOT of research and have decided to take the plunge!

I was on PS2 back in the day and left in 2007... I opted to go the PC route this time (minimal cost) and SE claims to have reactivated my character!

Sadly, prior to leaving I jumped servers chasing someone who ditched me on Leviathan...

So I guess, other than "Hey guys! What's up!?", I should ask, where is everyone, and what the hell have I missed!? I know, I know, no easy answer for the second one, but I'm studying! Anyone got any ideas where I should start? Where did the Quez server get ported to!? Should I pony up 25 bucks to switch off Levy?

Anyway, thanks in advance guys, hopefully this is a fun journey!

Not much here, been having a rough few months IRL but things are slowly looking better.

As far as gaming goes since I quit XI I think I played tons of MMO's: Aion, Champions Online, Rift, Vindictus, Dungeon Fighter Online, Hellgate, Minecraft, FFXIV 1.0, SW:The Old Republic, Guild Wars 2, and (if it counts) Boarderlands 2, Mechwarrior Online, Planetside 2.

None of them except XIV really had the same feel of XI, but honestly I don't think any MMO ever will require such dedication and preparedness that XI took to play, let alone master, and yet at the same time incorporate community and cooperative play as neccesities within the game. I'm referring back to before they had all this level 99 silliness. ToAU was the last expansion I ever played.. er.. well no actually I think there was one after that perhaps, that added the maws and time warping. I wanna say WoTG but that was the very 1st expansion name if I'm not mistaken. Anyway.. point is the cap was still lvl 75 and the game was brutal (in gameplay) even to players who were at level cap unless you had a group of friends to help you.

I think its the only MMO I've ever played where a max level character still had trouble fighting a mob solo that conned lower than the players own level, and the quest rewards were for the most part just the completion of the quest itself and rarely any actual treasure reward.

Currently one of my brothers gifted me CS:GO so I'm giving it a try. Much different than source which I am semi used to. MMO-wise, pretty much gonna be playing SWTOR until my subscription time runs out. I may even re-sub since I'm actually, for the most part, enjoying the game again. (Not really looking forward to the new "expansion" however. Seems like a ripoff)
 
Sorry to hear about the real life crap, but I feel you pain, trust me... My exodus came around because of my divorce and losing my son and all that shit, so I feel ya... I figure, now, I'm working full time, single, trying to save money to keep fighting for my son, so I need to save cash and become a hermit, so I figure this return might help with that! lol, certainly worked the first time!

Holy crap, I don't even recognize half of those games lol. KOTOR was the only one I touched, and well Borderlands and stuff. I've been in the Console world for a long ass time, so we don't get the same options lol.

I figure for the 35 bucks invested, I'll either love it or hate it. I have low expectations, but if I can play casual, It may not be the same sense of worldliness as before, but then again, I got screwed in being able to participate in end game stuff before, I guess cause of my job selections and shit. No one wanted my thiefyness, no matter how leet I was... :-P But then again, I was always a solo Thf, Nin, Blm, Blu, and all those jobs (of course I'm 75 on everything still since I quit right after ToAU), so I figure there might be a chance that my solo mentality might be useful now-a-days! Least that's what I'm reading... Who knows, I'll find out tonight! lol.

But good to hear things are getting good for ya again! And glad there's at least one familiar face around the forums! :-) Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy and shit... :-D
