HOLY CRAP (update details)

If you play this game for fun, you're gonna like this update.

If you play this game cause you got picked on in 3rd grade and this gives you the chance to hoard everything and dangle your riches over other peoples noses so that they may know how weak they are and how 1337 you are, you are not gonna like the Update.

I'm totally extatic. I can now have a life AND a PCC.

And yes, seeing every one and their moms walking around with a PCC within a months is going to make me feel less "1337" thank you.

Remind me to hunt you down after I get mine.

And Falsey, I have more important things to be pissed off about than "losing" virtual currency (which again I wouldn't be "losing" because I don't play the stock market with the AH, I buy items I intend to use).

What is the point of spending hours upon hours farming/synthing/camping to have enough gil to buy a very expensive and rare item if SE is just going to make that item less rare whenever people that can't/won't/don't spend their own time to get that same item.

Funny, I don't recall anywhere in the update notes specifying *where* the new source would be. Not necessarily a safe assumption to assume it will be more common. Probably safer to assume it'll be less *campable*, but you're going out on a limb to make any assumptions about market supply when we don't even know where the new source is.

It might be more common true, and you'll be justified in feeling upset over "losing money". It might be equally as hard to get and nothing will change as far as AH value or how many of them are floating around. Or it might be even more difficult to get, and you've had the foresight of getting it before it *increases* in value. Like people who bought their Astral Rings before they were taken out of Oztroja and consequently quadrupled in price.

Maybe I'm reading wrong...So correct me if I missed this(I just woke up) but from what they said on the drops like PCC and whatnot..I think the change is going to make it so that once you get the item, if you camp and get it again, it will be given Rare/Ex or Ex status. This keeps one person from monopolizing an expensive NM drop. Not sure if that's what they meant, but that'd sure be nice.

Best thing i can say is try to sell it AS SOON AS YOU GET ON THE SERVER. It wont be waiting on the AH for 200k when you get on, so you will still have some time to get back a good amount if not most of your gil back.

They said that people will now get drops that will be rare/ex, not that they will change the current items into rare/ex.

Time to start shouting in Jeuno/put it on the Forum AH/game AH and try to get as much gil as possible.

Depending on what they do with the archers rings, I can see the price of snipers increasing. The gilsellers provide a pretty steady stream of archers rings so that the crafters can synth snipers. If that stream gets interupted.....

No, the mobs will now drop rare/ex items that have the same stats as the old items. They will have different names (assuming) and be totally different from the currently owned ones. The regular versions (ie non rare/ex) will now be gotten in another way.

Depends on if you're a gambling man. Who would've guessed that Astral Rings would've SKYROCKETED in value after they were taken out of the hands of a few (thfs mainly) and put into the hands of everyone (incredibly easy BCNM20 fight)?

What this means is, for example, the item "Peacock Charm" will come from *some* other source (we have no idea what, could be a new or existing NM, BCNM, ENM, treasure chest/coffer, or even a quest reward for Al'Taieu mob drops or something, or even just a slim chance from a random mob like Archer's Rings ... well, like Archer's Rings used to be anyway).

And if you went to go camp Argus (who may or may not have had his spawn time and/or drop rate adjusted as a consequence of this change), he'd drop some *other* item - call it a "Peahen Charm" for sake of argument - with the exact same stats as Peacock Charm except it's Rare/Ex.

And again, let me repeat ... we don't know whether the new sources are easier or harder to get than the old sources. If you go and sell it as soon as you log on, that's assuming that the new source is easier. But we don't know that. If it's harder (and so the price goes *up*), you've just lost even more money with the intention of selling it now and buying it later.

Here's what I think SE intended to do with the change.

Don't go selling your PCC, hold on to it.

What SE wanted, assuming the new variant of PCC is from Argus and won't be from BCNM, is to drive people out of the area who are just there farming them for gil, and usher in people who just want to camp the item for the item. I know, it might seem like a foreign concept. But if you're there just for the item, would you care if you got the salable version to drop, or the EX version? No, you probably wouldn't. I'd say the EX versions are going to be just as rare, so it won't ruin the elitist feel people will have for owning a PCC, while in the same time pushing the value of the tradable versions higher, since they're just that, tradable. Lazy people who don't want to camp will pay for it.

I think they're trying to break the "Hey, I can make money off this!" attitude, which is the only way we'll ever see the economy of the game stabilize.

If I'm not mistaken... EX status drops from these NMs were requested by forumers in Allakhazam no?

Most of them said that this would cut inflation?
I'm still happy with it because that finally means I can obtained a piece of it and not worry about a mad botter that will 100% get the kill... lol

*The way that the following items are acquired has been changed:
Archer Ring, Leaping Boots, Emperor Hairpin, Peacock Charm
In addition, players may receive an EX/Rare or EX item with the same attributes from the monsters who previously dropped each of the above items.

You might even not be able to sell your PCC... Read the bolded part... But you might also probably get the item as Rare only without Ex. My guess is that what SE is doing is, the item now is probably Rare, Ex, Rare/EX. So maayyyybbeee you get to sell it once in a bluemoon. But hey, what's the point of camping Argus? It's to keep PCC for yourself no? :) If this is the case, I'm pretty hell sure the Rare version's price will fly to the roof.

As already established, that's doubtful. What's much more likely is that it'll simply be a different (Rare/Ex) item that's available now, but all the old ones are still tradable, and the tradable version is now available from a different source.

it's comin, I'm sure. Along with most other items.

you will soon be able to Identify most gil Buyers by the equipment they have on.

The only exception will be the old school players. Even then, they'll prolly go after the new ones and sell the old ones.

People are talking about how the rangers are whining... well, wouldn' you, too? The biggest problem this will cause rangers is for fighting NM's that need to be kited like Kirin. Kirin is what, level 95? SE nerfed their damage on higher level mobs and also made their distance from the mob modify their damage. Do you know how fast Kirin runs and how long it takes to shoot an o.bow or hellfire?

Also, I'd be mad if I spent 20mil on an item that is now going to have a rare/ex counterpart. I'd rather get the rare/ex version and spend the 20mil on something else. Someone mentioned that if Legalus didn't think the item was worth that much then he shouldn't have paid that much for it. Well, you do realize he bought the item before the market changed, right? He bought the item when there was no comparable item with the same stats in the same slot (closest would be spectacles, but they aren't the same stats). Would I spend that much on an item when there is a rare/ex alternative? I seriously doubt it.

Now if we could just get a Rare/Ex verision of the Serket Ring...

It's called Vivian Ring and it already exists. And if you want a ring that converts 50 HP to MP, most people go for the buyable one because getting a rare-ex drop from a once-a-day HNM is more of a pain than you'd think for.

(And yes, Vivian Ring has worse drop rate than Serket Ring, but the argument still holds.)

Yeah, i was thinking about this myself... so the crafters are going to have to camp for their materials? Priceless. No really i mean it, its going to go through the roof if they have to spend a ton of time camping/counter-camping for their materials.

It's economics my dear forumer. If you are satisfied with your purchase at the point of buying, then the whole idea of yours is down to the drain. This happens not only in games, but also in real life. Boy do I remember spending over $300 on PS2 and suddenly it's like what $200 now? lol. I could've used $100 to buy something else, but hey, that's LIFE.

People are still too lazy to go out and get their own stuff that is rare/ex. Just check how many BLM and RDM have moldavite, or how many players are missing important AF. They are still going to have to camp it, now instead of the "Botters" as an excuse not to go, its going to be "No one will help me" or for the first week or two "There are too many people"

If they make these drops come from a 6 man BCNM or something I see the price shooting up even higher for these items. 6 people sharing 600k or whatever isn't that much.
