HOLY CRAP (update details)

hmm

masamura, the NMs are no longer gonna drop a tradeable version, so LL will no longer drop the leaping boots, but LL will drop leaping boots equivalent with same/similar stats but diff name that will be rare/ex, while the tradeable still called Leaping Boots, will either be from a bcnm enm quest or something that wont be as monopolized as the NM's

For the love of god people, learn to read!

The way that the following items are acquired has been changed:
Archer Ring, Leaping Boots, Emperor Hairpin, Peacock Charm

In addition, players may receive an EX/Rare or EX item with the same attributes from the monsters who previously dropped each of the above items.

NOWHERE in this text does it say that these items are going to become EX/Rare or just EX. NOWHERE. Your precious muled Leaping Boots will be the exact same after the update! The mobs will drop NEW ITEMS with the same attributes, only r/e! God, this isn't rocket science!

Oh, and these economic examples are getting absurd. My advice from now on: only buy shit if you want it, and then afterwards forget you ever had the gil. It isn't relevant anymore, you traded the gil for the product. This isn't a perfect world, and items will not be valuable forever.

Well people do want the best of everything, but not everyone is willing to act like a jap all day so they can have a certain JP power voker claim Kings, HNMs and LoO all day for them. But I won't even go there, oh wait, I did.

This is a ridiculous change, people camp Argus for a PCC or for the gil, they earned it. If anyone is whining it is yet again the poor and lazy or as they like to call themselves "We have lives and anyone that has gil does not" type of people.

PCC should never change, and I cannot BELIEVE you people are so god damn lazy that you can't even camp an Emp pin, with TH2 it's like a 70% drop! Leaping Lizzy is the easiest NM to claim as well! Wtf people?

This is horseshit, there is a reason only few get to be "1337" (roll your eyes all you want,) it's because they earned it or paid RL dollars like dumbfucks to get it. Either way that should not be means for average lazy doofuses to get their hands on one.

Do you guys have someone hold your dicks to take a piss too? What's next? Easier xp route to 75? Oh wait, yall cried about that and have that now as well. Give me a break and stop playing this game if you can't handle it.

I cannot express my disgust enough at this change and the way you all are acting about it. Seriously go pick up a copy of WoW, I hear that game is easy as hell to play and be successful at.

Pathetic.

yeah, mebbe make it a 2-4 hr pop or sumthing

Wow, so SE really does listen!

I would love to see more instance stuff, like in BCNM stuff.

Really, the best thing they could do is make all these drops that are stupid expensive rare/ex. That, and increase the drop rate across the board. There will allways be gil sellers, but maybe we can force em over to the Crafting side of things. I wouldn't mind seeing gil sellers having to craft to make money.

The more I think about it, the more I like it. Hell, there would be more of the crafted stuff in the ah, and it would keep them off in their own area, kinda out of the game

Vang, I hate to say it, but people like you are the reason this stuff happens... This game is at the point where if a theif doesn't have Leaping boots, Emp pin, +2 rings, and a pair of obnoxiously priced daggers, you think of them as a gimp and their not worth a slot in your pt. Same goes for almost every job now, everyone has to have the best equip all the time, every single spell (namely whm's ~na spells that almost NEVER get used yet cost 100k for a scroll) and yada yada yada for 10 levels past where they are now. All this gear dependancy led to too many people bitching about having to farm for MONTHS to buy the equip to get 5 more levels.

SE saw this and is now trying to make the equip they made severely overpowered, less difficult to obtain. Astral rings and leaping boots are made to help balance out the stats lost by different races, and yet, we see Tarus in the dunes with double Astrals and 10 HP, and we see Mithra theives with boots/pin on. It's all because people see uber gear and expect people to have it, and if they don't, cry GIMP GIMP GIMP. I understand where yes, people like to feel like they have the best and what not, but 800k for 25 mp, or 3 dex/agi is just obnoxious.

And people complain about the economy, well I'll be damned if it's not all of our fault for where it is today. For everyone who DID NOT undercut the AH or at least matched the current going price, for ever person who ever overpriced something on the AH, for anyone who talked down to someone for having lesser gear, YOU ruined the economy because people will pay what they must to stop hearing people call them a gimp, even if it ends up meaning they hafta buy gil to do so. I admit openly that I don't follow what I'm preaching entirely, but hell, 90% of what I list on the AH is at lower than current going rate, because I like fast sales. This update is not gonna fix or ruin the economy, it's only going to increase the options for the other 80% of us who simply don't have the will to farm up 25 mil for a single item while trying to play a game.

And to say "then go play WoW if you can't handle FFXI" is just stupidity, anyone who wants to play FFXI, should play FFXI, and it shouldn't be an elitist game. I hate WoW with a passion, but it's not a bad game for some people. SE is obviously seeing the success of their methods and trying to incorperate some of them to make money. We have made this game to the point where newbs are scared to lfp because they get laughed at by the 1337 players who don't want to waste their time in a shitty dune's pt. This makes them quit early and makes SE lose profit. Updates like this are to make it so that people can start the game, and not go around like an idiot for 6 months.

but 800k for 25 mp, or 3 dex/agi is just obnoxious.

3 AGI 3 DEX for level SEVEN is obnoxious?

25 Extra MP at level TEN is obnoxious?

The best neck pc in the game a melee can wear before they even go to Crawler's Nest all the way up to 75 is obnoxious?

I think people driving around 500k cars is obnoxious, but I'm not asking the government to make it easier for me to get one.

Either work for it, or wear a spike necklace, leather boots, or shell earrings at those levels idc, but don't make it worse for the people that WORKED for it.

Most jobs have no skill to play. The gear you have affects the number crunching behind the scenes and determines whether you're a good or a bad player. Bad players make pickup parties a gamble. This update should hopefully make good gear easily obtainable by anyone. Pickup parties should be quite a bit better on average. I should have a much easier time taking other jobs to high level. This pairs well with the exp update. SE made a Maat Cap for people with multiple jobs at 75, and this is their way of making sure most people get to use it.

Who said it's going to be easier to get them now than before? Everyone's just rapidly jumping to that conclusion (even me), but for all we know S-E could make the "new methods" for obtaining these items some kind of insanely impossible feat equal to obtaining Maat's Cap. There's no guarantee that the market value is going to decrease (and if the above is true, it will INCREASE). Some people just hate camping NMs, and they will continue to buy up these items. Crafters will still buy Leaping Boots to make Winged ones. The only difference now is that there won't be 5 /anon people standing and eagerly awaiting the next LL spawn to sell off those boots... now it will be 5 /anon people standing and eagerly awaiting the next LL spawn to WEAR those boots.

It's pretty obvious to me that anyone bashing Legalus for being pissed off about losing his gil hasn't ever had anywhere near that much gil themselves. Stop comparing it to RL items... In RL when you buy something you know you've lost the money. The instant you buy it the value comes down. And as you use it, the value continues to drop. In FF, especially in the case of a PCC, when you buy it, you can feel pretty confidant that the price will stay the same, or go up, so the money isn't lost at all; until SE gimps NM's so that the lazy jackasses (see: the vast majority of posters in this thread) can have an easy ride to the top.

Oh, there goes my leaping lizzy hunting pass time :?

But I can ateast(I hope) get a PCC now >.>

Atleast I can get the rare/ex version of some of them now ;o

Vang, I understand your side of this arguement, but most of those people driving the 500k cars, are trust fund babies who didn't work for the money, or got dumb luck on an invention. This is comparable to somebody who struck gold by seeing an unclaimed NM and taking it, and getting drops, or someone who had a friend quit and give them all sorts of money. That's where the majority of the rich folk come from. There are very few people, like yourself, who worked hard for what they have. I know you worked your ass off for where you are, but a great majority just got lucky and now bitch because they're "losing money". You deserve all the money in the world if you sat there and farmed beehive chips till you had enough for that Scorps Harness. That's just not the case very often, it's usually lucky drops at random times.

Yes, just like elemental staves were guaranteed to be worth 400-500k (which is talking pre-inflation). Oh wait, people learned how to grow ores and the price plummeted to almost nothing.

Just like Raise III was impossible to get yet required for a "good" whm at 3M gil. Oh wait, that tanked too.

There isn't a single item in this game guaranteed for jack squat. Everything's a risk, and if you aren't willing to watch your gil go down the drain, go find something else to do because you're going to be really disappointed one day.

until SE gimps NM's so that the lazy jackasses (see: the vast majority of posters in this thread) can have an easy ride to the top.

I've never had that sort of gil. I'd be mad if I were Legalus too. I have no item that costs more than 1.5 mil. The most gil I've ever had in my pocket was one million that was immediately spent on a Penitent's Rope. If Penitent's Ropes suddenly dropped to 100k, I'd be the first one here complaining. On the other hand, when an update like this makes it easier for me to be uber, I'll be the first one cheering. Whatever benefits me, basically. If I had a level 75 job, I'd be annoyed at the exp update. If I had a PCC, I'd be annoyed at it losing its prestige. Neither applied to me, and I can't find it within myself to complain about an update that makes my character more powerful and doesn't negatively affect me one bit.

Sorry taur, but Vang is mostly correct. If you want to be "1337" or whatever, than you should have to put in the time to work for it. It really isn't that hard. I happen to like the way thing were. This also severly limits options for obtaining some items. Like someone else suggested, I would rather spend my time making money and purchasing the item, then I would camping for it. Most of the people who hate farming for an item, aren't going to want to camp an NM for a rare/ex item either.

This is just a case where those who whine the loudest are the ones who get listened too. Funny part is, most of the people that scream "cookiecutter" when proper sub or weapon is suggested, are probably the same people that are happy that now everyone can obtain uber gear.

Do you think this will solve anything? Hell, just look at moldavite. Two classes really get any value out of it, and it is lvl47 with a 50ish gob dropping it. That thing is almost always camped. What do you think is going to happen ot the low level NM that drops lvl7 uber boots?

Guess this is reason why I never buy those over priced optional equipment. And nothing in the few weeks before a patch.

I'm hoping its a BC that will drop the rare/ex PCC. And not the NM unless spon time is like 1 hour. Guess if its just rare, can find a group who will do it till we all got one ^^ No more stuped ranger necklass.

Lol, aren't you assuming a bit much here? And even if that's true, who's to say they don't deserve it for the sake of their parent's hard work or their own 'dumb luck'? A lot of what you call 'dumb luck' is made thru effort and enthusiasm.

I think my main point is that the gear was too powerful for it's own good. The stats on all of the items in question, save Archer's Rings (a problem in it's own) are ungodly for the level available to it. Who in their right mind wouldn't want that amazing gear? SE fucked up big time by ever making gear like that. Now they're trying to make it even more the norm to hide that mistake.
